I had originally booked reservations at the Hilton Garden just a couple of blocks away. Upon my arrival at the Hilton Garden, the front desk clerk informed me that the entire housekeeping staff had walked out at 1 PM. Being that it was 8 PM at night checking in, I asked why I wasn’t given a phone call? He said they did not have time and that they noticed that I was a Florida resident so they gave phone calls to out of state bookings the priority. WOW! Been a Hilton honors member for 25 years. Moving on, I’m driving in the dark and I passed the Georgian in Beach club and thought well I’ll give this a try it looks nice. I pull underneath the portico, walked inside and was greeted by a wonderful woman who dropped her job when I told her what I just experienced. Being that it was at the end of bike week for Daytona beach, they were pretty booked. She searched & searched for a room for me. “Found one!”, she let out with a burst of energy. At this point, other than safety, I really didn’t need anything but a safe place to stay. Boy was I SURPRISED! I walk into the room on the second floor and it was appointed beautifully with nice furnishings and a full stainless steel kitchen. I walk into the bath and it was completely remodeled clean and well appointed. The coup de grace was when I walked out onto the balcony. Hard to hate that backdrop! After a nice hot shower it was now 11 PM. I sat on the balcony and listen to the ocean and finally was at peace and safety. I wish I had more time, there was a cool restaurant/bar directly across the street that looks like a fun place to go! Publix grocery is directly across the street. Along with a TJ Maxx & a liquor store & many restaurants. I did not get to enjoy the facilities as I had to leave by 8 AM for a doctors appointment. I will say that the staff and the accommodations were absolutely 4 to 5 stars. I believe that this is a privately owned boutique hotel. While the staff is extraordinarily attentive, obviously that’s not the Ritz Carlton and you have to do some things on your own which after reading the reviews, I see some people are clueless. Thank you regarding the Hilton, they charge my card for that room I didn’t stay in. It took me three phone calls and over three hours of my time to get that charge removed, adding insult to injury. I will be staying at the Georgian in beach club again and will recommend all of my relatives who visit from...
Read moreAfter staying at the Georgian Inn for the past many years it almost pains me to say that I will not invest another penny of my hard earned money into this place ever again. We like to stay here because of the friends we made over the years that stay the same weeks as our family... During our past stay however they gave us no reason to ever come back. Two weeks prior to our reservation my wife called the hotel to confirm our two rooms and to let the front desk know that we would be checking into one room on Sunday, while the second room was for our daughter , who would be checking in on the Saturday of the same weekend. My wife was given the numbers of our adjoining rooms and told we were all set. This was important to us as we were on a cruise the previous week and not contactable by phone. We gave our daughter a copy of our confirmation letter. At check in time she was told that they had a room for her but that she could not check in without a copy of her mothers drivers license, no exception. Since our daughter could not reach us until we docked on Sunday morning she had little choice but to drag her two young children to a hotel and waste $140 on a room and phone charges trying to reach us. With a phone call and a text from us to the Georgian Inn, they were finally able to check into their room, note without copy of license. Problems will happen but what is most important is how they are handled. My wife and I arrived later in the day and my conversation with a manager named Laura was like banging my head against the wall. Our conversation ended with her telling me that she would speak to her general manager Theresa. I told her that I believe that someone at the Georgian Inn was responsible to reimburse my daughter for money she should not of had to spend. Her paid for room sat empty for all Saturday and Sunday morning. Two days later I spoke with Theresa and she had not been told of our situation and when I shared our frustrations to her she could not of cared any less....to top this all off, NO CURTAINS or shades of any type to block out the blinding light coming in our ocean front room at sunrise each morning... Was told room under renovation and not quite finished,...
Read moreThe staff at the front desk was wonderful. The rooms were excellent. We took our family with us and we had great rooms on the end of one wing where it was just us the rest of the rooms were for housekeeping. I am not sure why they have full kitchens because the first morning I cooked scrambled eggs and toast and one of their housekeeping ladies names Pebbles called the manager and complained that she didn't want to smell the food and the general manager actually called my husband down to his office and told him we needed to open the door to the balcony so the smell of cooking would not bother her. We had our service dog with us and again the housekeeping lady named Pebbles complained because she does not like dogs, and the general manager "Marty" called my husband to his office about our service dog. Saying we needed to be careful because Pebbles could cause us alot of trouble. The manager has no managerial control over his staff, never did he take up for us as customers. It was the first time my grandchildren had ever been to a pool and I was not allowed to go to the pool and watch them because I was told my service dog was not allowed at the pool area. So I missed out on seeing my grandbabies in the pool for the first time. We loved the area and we loved the rooms. We stayed 7 nights and the good thing is Pebbles only worked every other day. The other housekeeping lady was named Donna and she was a sweetheart. On the days she worked we got fresh towels and she was so sweet. On the days that Pebbles worked we never go fresh towels. We asked several of the employees about Pebbles and was told she does not get along with anyone. We were also told to go to the general manager and when we told them that the general manager was aware of the problems and had called my husband to his office twice and we were gotten on to for the complaints, they were surprised. I love the place and would go back again, but before I book reservations I would have to check and see if Pebbles still works there, because if she does we will not be going back there. She ruined our vacation on the days...
