While on vacation In Ormond Beach recently we decided to take a short walk down A1A to a secret little hideaway, hidden behind the Ocean East Resort Club, for a little breakfast action! What we stumbled upon was simply glorious for anyone local or vacationing who would love ocean views and the sweet soothing sounds of the Atlantics waves crashing on the shore while enjoying an outstanding meal.... WITH impeccable and friendly service! It was a beautiful morning so we decided to sit on the back patio to take in the salty air and ocean views! It does get a little hot and bright, so prepare for that...BUT, totally worth it! We shared the Chorizo Benedict (Toasted English Muffins topped with 2 incredibly seasoned Chorizo sausage patties, perfectly poached eggs, covered in a creamy rich Hollandaise sauce with a dash of paprika) PLENTY TO SHARE! They even split up the portions for us! When I tell you the home fries were the best I've had, I MEAN IT! Crunchy on the outside and golden with a creamy potato center! They coat them in a special seasoning which makes them even more unforgettable! We MAY have ordered a savory Bloody Mary (which they rim with such a different type of salt mix that I could not figure out the flavor profile! I could put that salt concoction on ANYTHING), They have a full bar open all day! They also serve lunch and dinner! We will definitely visit again when we travel to the East Coast FL beaches! Do yourself a favor and get your BEACH ON!!!! Pics are of the back patio, most of the breakfast menu and our more than delicious Chorizo Benedict! The yolks we like golden seas of...
Read moreGreat view, the exact location was not clearly marked or easy to identify by signage. Rather, its located behind a motel next to another restaurant on A-1-A. The parking next to the Beach Bucket was full so we parked in a beach-lot 1 block north of the eatery. We visited the Beach Bucket mid-afternoon on Friday May 26, 2017. With a broad range of table/seating available, we were seated almost immediately.
The wait-staff were mostly inattentive and apathetic. The craft beer selection was scant and uninspired. Both my first and second micro-brew choices were "out of stock", I was informed. I then selected the next best option of available craft beers: a benign, generic, run-of-the-mill Sam Adams. Though I'm skeptical whether Sam Adam's actually qualifies as a true micro-brew. The point is, their meager brew selection disappointed from the get-go.. as one who began dabbling in micro-brew in 1988.
The menu selection included various deep-fried appetizers, fish sandwiches, po-boys, breaded shrimp basket, fish tacos, burgers, etc. I ordered the shrimp basket w/ seasoned fries. The serving portion was generous with medium shrimp that was not overly battered. It was decent, but not particularly interesting or unique. The food was moderately priced. Our visit took place during an afternoon lull.. smack-dab between lunch and dinner. Despite having plenty of wait-staff on hand, we waited about 35 minutes for our entrees to arrive. With its terrific location and ocean-view, the Beach Bucket could be something special, and maybe even spectacular. Instead, it aspires to little beyond...
Read moreBeach Bucket is a nice place to get a bite to eat or maybe have an adult beverage. Food is good and so is the service. I can't comment on the adult beverages as I did not partake. 4 stars instead of 5 because they seem to not be sure if they want to be a restaurant or a bar, It used to be a great, cozy little restaurant with a cute little bar in case you wanted to get a drink. No problem! The problem (to me) arose when they greatly expanded the bar at the expense of indoor tables. The coziness disappeared entirely. Outside tables have remained the same throughout. Overall a really good place - just not the 5 it used to be to me. If you are more interested in a quiet bar that also serves food - you will likely give it 5 stars instead of the 4 I gave, Some night they have acoustic music which is nice for the drinking crowd. Not too late - not too quiet. Enjoy!
Edit: A few years later....
I raised my review to 5 stars because of the great service we received for breakfast today from our server Jose. He listened, was honest about upcharges, and was diligent about making sure we had all we needed. Met the GM and appreciate his attitude towards customers. Both are very personable and helpful.
Super BONUS points to Beach Bucket for keeping NORMAL salt and pepper shakers on the table. At last I can salt and pepper my food...
