“We’ve stayed in the dirtiest and filthiest cabin we’ve ever been in.” I mean, “The” dirtiest.
My husband and I were thrilled to book a cabin in Cherokee, North Carolina. We’re huge fans of cabins when we travel to the mountains. However, our excitement turned to disappointment upon arriving at Cabin 3.
Parking was limited, and as soon as we entered the cabin, we were hit with a wave of dirtiness. The mats were old and stained, the table and chairs were covered in stains, and the couch was full of pet hairs and stains, as if it had never been cleaned. The bed was equally filthy, with multiple stains and pet hairs, again as if it had never been washed. The towels were old, brittle, and musty, smelling like they had never been washed either.
The kitchen was complete, but surprisingly, they didn’t provide paper towels or dish detergent. Paper plates were in the cabinets, but they were full of pet hair. The toilet area was also dirty, with piles of dust in several corners throughout the cabin.
The decor and furniture were old and thrift store-style. We found a small extra blanket in a closet and used it to cover the couch so we could sit. The air in the cabin was thick with dust and mold, making me feel suffocated.
My husband fell very sick overnight, and by the next morning, he was too weak to make it to the concert or the baby shower. He had to drive back home to Florida to avoid spreading the illness to anyone else.
We had booked this cabin because we had tickets to a show at the casino the next day, and after a baby shower. Now, we had lost a lot of money, a ticket, and the opportunity for my husband to attend our son’s first baby shower.
I don’t recommend staying at Cherokee Cabin Rentals. It was an incredibly disappointing experience. On top of all this, the prices on their website were misleading. We were supposed to pay $99 a night, but they ended up charging us $139.99. I didn’t even bother to argue about it because it wasn’t worth it. Not sure how this location is a 4.6 star rating.
The only positive thing about the experience was the manager’s attentiveness, communication, and friendliness.
This cabin was incredibly dirty, and I was deeply disgusted. I will never stay...
Read moreGreat place to stay. It's a group of rustic cabins. We stayed during winter and our cabin was cozy warm. It was also very clean.
The kitchen had stove, frig, sink, coffee maker, and microwave. There were also dishes, silverware, and pots. Just needed groceries and paper products - everything else was set.
The bathroom had towels, washcloths, and bath soap (we brought toilet paper). The hot water lasted through lengthy showers.
The manager was very nice, extremely helpful, and always available.
Although the cabins are secluded, they're close to everything in Cherokee. The cabins are located up a steep(ish) hill that's behind/beside the casino.
To us, directions to the cabins were a bit murky. (It's Casino Dr then Tahquette Cove then 1st right turn toward various cabin sites) The road up to the cabins is Tahquette Cove. It's a one-lane dirt road but fairly easy to navigate. We enjoyed our three-night stay. Price...
Read moreOk y'all, these are the nicest people in the whole world. We have stayed twice and they remember us from the 1st time to the 2nd. The location and seclusion are perfect. In the woods but literally walking distance from the casino. A couple of blocks from our favorite restaurant in Cherokee. The prices are amazing! They got us a cabin even with the annual kids fishing tourney AND the WSOP going on that weekend. The cabins are clean, the owner is so accommodating. We always arrive late at night and he always asks us to call him when we get in anyway since it is so dark at night in the woods. I can't say enough good things about Cherokee Cabin...
