I booked a room through Booking.com. My friend who lives in Palmdale was pleased and said that it's a safe and quiet area in Palmdale. The staff was friendly and hepful. I had asked for a room on the street level, but the previous traveller stayed one day longer, so they gave me a room on the next level. The room was clean and spacious, but unusual layout. As you walk in, there is a space to hang your clothes and then, a handbasin to your right, not inside the bathroom. I found it very inconvenient. The shower was above the bath tub which had non-slip strips length-wise and a hand rail. But as I didn't want slip and fall, my friend bought a non-slip mat for me to use during my stay. |There was a coffee maker but no hotwater jug. As I wanted to make a cup of tea, I had to go downstairs to get a boiling water from the machine. Breakfast was included in the stay. During the breakfast time, we were allowed to take the food from the breakfast counter to eat in our rooms. But I ate in the room, where a TV was on with news. I had a toasted bagel, a cold hard boiled egg, a mandarine and a banana on the first day, then, from the next day I had a porridge with dried fruit, a boiled egg and a banana. Then, I picked up a nice crispy apple to take to my room. There were other kinds of American food which I was not familiar with. After the breakfast time, the breakfast items were cleared away and only the drinks were available at other times.|My friend in Palmdale was going to pay for my stay, but they mistakenly checked me out one day before my departure and cancelled my keycard! So I had to have a new key card issued for another day. Furhtermore, they had charged to my credit card instead of my friend's! Thankfully it was sorted out through my bank in Australia. It was...
Read moreDon't know what the plus is at this Best Western. The room was mediocre, stocked with 2 halves of rolls of toilet paper, the attendant told me the "gym" does not open until 8am, the breakfast was disgusting, we asked for a late checkout which was 11:30 am by their standard even though they had very minimal booking judging by the 10 vehicles parked in the lot. However, the maid came into our room at 8:10 to see if we had checked out yet, and again at 11:12am to ask us if we were going to checkout. We informed her we requested a late check out the night before, and we would checkout then. She said they had no record of this and as we were exiting at 11:25am the front desk attendee was walking up to our room presumably to ask us to leave. When she saw us leaving she acted as if she was walking down the hallway, and as we were exiting the elevator down stairs we then saw her coming down the stairs to the desk. What a crummy stay, at a crummy property, and thanks for making us feel like we were in communist Cuba. The area is ghetto and the motel was not even close to what a Best Western Plus should be. However, the worst part were the staff. I guess the Plus means we kick you out by 11am, don't record a requested "late" 11:30am checkout, come into your room at 8:10am, sweat you to leave before your check out, and send additional staff to your room tomake sure you leave so you can feel like a criminal. Garbage staff, at a garage area, and the property was...
Read moreFor starters I stayed in the one bedroom king suite. Nice upon entry however the televisions didn't work. Called front desk, came up and miraculously he got the TV to work...in the living room. A couple days later the television in the bedroom began turning itself off and on. AS WELL AS displaying the Samsung screen saver. Very disappointing. Second the WIFI was a complete failure. Disabling two minutes after signing on. Everytime I signed on, so I just gave up and used my own cell phone plan data service. Obviously this place is haunted by dead military MK ULTRA spirits. BECAUSE when I tried to sleep with the lights out, was awakened by scratches on the floor boards as if there were racoons in the room...very halloweenish. So I slept with the lamps on for an entire week. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone used to five diamond hotels and resorts. Try another chain, maybe you'll have better luck, but in Palmdale,...
