I almost never write reviews but felt obligated to write about my stay at Palms. First, I like the location and look of the building-- it's a cute setup. Pets stay free on request, so I took my cats. There is only one maintenance person so he's not always there each day, but is very nice and helpful. Some issues included my room key not working each day; ice maker that would constantly run out of ice; bad TV signal that would often freeze and skip about 5 seconds of whatever was playing on all channels; smelly sink/bathroom area, possibly backed up plumbing; loud walkways especially with children running and scootering across the 2nd and 3rd floors; no lobby access nor coffee as advertised, due to covid. The service is really sub-par though. I guess my first warning was a sign on the lobby window "All sales final, no refunds after first 15 minutes". I thought this would be ok since I'm not one to complain, had already paid online, and I'd make this stay work out.. The first night Saturday my air conditioner was extremely loud when turning on and would rattle non-stop when running, which kept waking me up overnight. The next morning I spoke to a guy in the lobby and mentioned the issue-- he said he would be at the lobby the next morning and if the noises continued overnight through Monday he could switch my room, since maintenance wouldn't be in till then, which seemed reasonable enough at the time. I had to work in the morning though, so early evening I decided it would keep me awake again and went to the lobby to ask to be moved to a different room. The lady in the lobby did everything in her power to not accommodate me, saying the other rooms were all booked this Sunday night. My friend convinced her with his Spanish to come to the room and see the AC issue herself, and she did but pretended like the AC sounded fine. I refused to leave the lobby window and she called security to escort me to leave without refund. By the time security arrived I was on the phone with my credit card company seeing about the dispute process. Meanwhile the security guard stood outside the door with my friend listening to the AC and decided not to remove me, and instead took notes and told the lobby lady that she should get the air conditioner fixed. I had to sleep the rest of the night with earplugs. The next day Monday after work I asked the lady if she could send maintenance to my room, and she was really nice (as she was the rest of the stay) and raidioed the maintenance guy. He wasn't sure about the noise but swapped out the air compressor for me and that fixed all my AC issues. I am really grateful for him. Anyways, I had booked on the Palms website which is managed by 3rd party Travlu, so a lobby receptionist said I should contact Travlu about refunding the remaining nights so I could stay elsewhere. The Travlu agent seemed sure I could be refunded-- they scheduled an appointment with the manager "Jacky" and when I finally got through the Travlu phone lines again days later (After 5 minutes Travlu takes you off hold and asks you to leave a message) they explained I could not be refunded due to the "no refunds" policy of the hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone since if you have problems with your room, the owners do not care and will not accommodate you. After all, there are no refunds and they already have your money. Edit: 2 days after posting this review, the credit card I used had a fraudulent charge of $299 for some online stock trading bot purchase. This is the only place I went to that took my card info when I checked in, so I can't imagine my info was stolen anywhere other than this hotel. Be...
Read moreIf I could give the service a zero I would! Before checking in we mention we would have a bird a dog, the lady said it was ok and let us check in, second the ac and fridge weren’t working, when a lady from housekeeping came she saw my small dog a little poodle, she starts screaming like if the dog was trying to attack her, mind u the dog was on the bed with my daughter sleeping.!!! She continues to tell me the fridge is cooling! While the lol is hot and it looks bad already! As she’s leaving she gets all mad saying there’s no pets allowed but the website said yes and the lady in front said it was ok!!! Front desk calls the room and she’s yelling at me all mad that the dog is damaging the room and I have to take it out, that there’s no dogs allowed!!! Clearly she has memory issues, I go to show her it says pet friendly and she says yes but she would give me another room because my dog has damaged the restroom door!! Let me tell you this door has fist punches and it’s taped up in 3 different spots! She’s cleaning my dog did that and wants to charge me $300 for a new door! I went to Lowe’s and the same door cost $50 and she wants to charge $300 for something that’s punched! What’s worse is that when I was talking to the front desk the same housekeeper cleaner lady was talking over me as I asked her multiple times can I talk she said ur talking and I told her your talking over me and she went inside to complain about me! She’s the one who started this!!! So I’m not going to pay for a door that’s damaged and clearly not my dogs doing! My poor dog is small at 12 years old poor thing has arthritis!!!! His bones hurt!!! But the housekeeper swears it was my dog!! I’m not staying here again and I’m not paying money...
Read moreCheck in time requires a minimum of 15 minutes per person. If there is a line, multiply that by the number of people in line ahead of you. If you register to arrive at 3:00 p.m., the rooms may not be ready until 4:00 p.m., in which case you still have to wait until they are ready before the front desk will start the check-in process. See timing above. The rooms are basic, with mostly functioning accommodations. Front desk staff either has no idea how to use their computer, or the system that they are using is useless. I stayed here for 6 days going from a Sunday through a Saturday, and while the third floor is quieter than other floors, the walkways are carpeted which attracts every kind of filth there is. The rooms themselves are fairly clean, with the usual two-star hotel number of cigarette burns in the bedspread. Hours only had one burn. The bed was comfortable, and the cable was basic antenna. Electrical is a little sketchy. Only one outlet available for use to plug devices into in the whole room. One of our pendant lights fixtures is not wired correctly, the fixture itself is electrified.made special note that this was for a pet friendly room, and the pet friendly room has carpeting... The cleaning staff is very nice and polite. The security guard does actually walk around the property all night, and is visible. Refrigerator worked well. No microwave present...
