Legendary Spring Break Hotel The Sandpiper Beacon #sandpiper #tikibar #pcb #panamacitybeach #panama #city #beach #springbreak #spring #break #tiki

I stayed at the sandpipper 6/29/24 - 7/2/24. I want to provide a real review of this place. I stayed in room 325. I paid roughly 1100 for the 3 days know beach view. 1st check in was a long process it was made 3 people checking everyone in the lobby was full. Upon check in everyone in your party has to come into the lobby to give they full name and recieve a bracelet. Parking lot across the street from the office is free for two vehicles. They have 20 dollars a night Parking at the condos. You have to get a cart to bring your luggage to the room. So we used the elevator. It was extremely hot no air circulation at all. Once arriving at the room I would say things looked fairly OK. The funiture was dated. The mattress kept sliding on the bed. The bed was extremely uncomfortable for everyone in my party. The air conditions made a really loud noise when running in both rooms. Also all night water dropped on us from the unit for three days. The floors were extremely nasty. We ran out of towels everyday because no housekeeper comes. We once asked for towels and it took several hours. Another time we asked for towels and they came fast. Our room did have a balcony that faced the pool with the yellow slide. That was a Bouns. We tried the indoor pools but it was extremely hot inside. The inside pool and lazy river is not big at all. It's a restaurant across the street called coconut. The food was horrible. There was another restaurant there that sold bbq and other things. They were a lil expensive but better tasting food. The game room is extremely small maybe 6 games total. I asked for change to play and was told I had to go to the office for change. I later found it was a change machine in there. Now I did love the Tiki bar and the fire dancing. I loved being so close to the beach. Now let me tell you the reason I will never go hear again. My children got in the elevator and it broke down and they were stuck in there for over an hour. They were beating and crying for help. Several guests were trying to help them. No emergency button inside the elevator worked. The air was not working they were burning up the entire time. Finally maintenance got them out. He brushed it off like it was no big deal. Didn't ask if they were OK or nothing. I later called and asked for a manager. The manager said he didn't know nothing about it and he would place a note in the computer. Noone ever cared to check on my kids. My son has had nightmares and is extremely afraid of elevators now. So this place is a no for me. I hope my review is helpful.

I'm giving this resort 5 stars because of how fun it was and the location, but I want to elaborate on why 4 stars by many is reasonable. We stayed in a King + Queen Sofa Sleeper with a kitchen. We also brought our dog, so it is possible we got a more dated room to accommodate him (hotels usually choose older/non renovated rooms for pets, totally fine). First impression: the entire place is dated with very minimal supplies for the kitchen and bathroom. Then we realized that we had a huge patio with the most beautiful view of the beach. Our bed faced the glass doors, so we got to wake up each morning to a phenomenal view! We didn't go on this trip to stay in a fancy resort - we wanted comfortable, fun, and easy access to the beach. That's exactly what it turned out to be! The staff wasn't over the top with their customer service, but they were all nice enough! Their restaurant across the street, Coconuts, was fun, and their staff was great there - they were super accommodating to our pup. The on-site bar was a blast with karaoke and pool tables. The ice cream shop was good. There were very nice swings throughout to relax on, adorable kitties throughout the outside playing, and loungers to rent on the beach. We came to actually sort of like the dated appearance of everything because it reminded us of the charm from the old beach places we went to growing up. They aren't kidding when they call it the fun place. We actually decided that we would be back because of how fun it was and incredibly affordable. Just don't go expecting a whole lot of your room, and focus on going to have a good time! If you have a room without a beach view, I definitely wouldn't plan on being inside much since they face inward towards other rooms.

BE WARNED|short version:|NOISE all night. Sleep was nominal.|SMELLS! Rain streamed down the entry door/wall, soaking across carpet. |DIRTY!||Full review:|BE WARY!!|I have tried repeatedly to resolve this with management - but Patrick avoids doing his job. He won’t return phone calls - thereby refusing to resolve sensibly. It has left me no choice but to leave a thorough review in as many locations as possible. For future guests - forewarned is forearmed. ||We arrived hopeful for a pleasant week. We were spending a week at the beach looking for some peace after an extremely hard season in our family with dad recently passing. I made a reservation at the Sandpiper to be close to other family staying at the beach. ||We arrived at what was obviously an older resort, but had no idea what we were in store for. The staff greeted us well and we made it to our room (down badly tilting hallways and up an extremely smelly elevator.) If you have instability issues be prepared. Flat walkways are NOT guaranteed. The VIEW was amazing! The room - tolerable. There was obviously rain damage in the room and the beds were uncomfortable - but it’s just a week - we will make the best of it. ||There were three of us in a room that sleeps six. While there were plenty of beds squeezed in that space - I have no idea how six people would have navigated in that room daily. I know the assumption is people will be outside at the beach or resort amenities - but when it’s raining constantly you end up in the room more than usual. Space is limited. ||As for room supplies - dishes were definitely not available for six people, glad we only had three. We had one fork, three spoons, no glasses, but plenty of knives. ||The smoke alarm was beeping due to batteries as soon as we arrived. They came and changed them - but must have used old batteries because it started beeping again incessantly the morning we were packing. ||👉🏼 None of the above was our complaint. We rolled with it - it’s just a week. ||NOISE:|You expect some level of noise when you stay at a place like this, but typically they come with a reasonable “noise curfew.” Supposedly they have one (10 pm). Obviously not enforced unless someone complains. We never knew that until our last night there. Every night - EVERY NIGHT - there was ridiculous noise levels well into the night. 1-2 am. Including what sounded like: music, yelling and shouting, kids running (playing chase) down the halls, furniture being moved, something being built. It was crazy. Sleep was nominal. The last night - and ultimately the straw that broke the camels back) was awful. We tried all week not to be “those” people who complain about everything. We just kept saying it’s only a week. We finally had no choice but to call ☎️ the front office at 2 am. The banging had been ongoing and the music was deafeningly loud. After FIVE nights of no sleep my husband had had enough. He complained. ||ROOF DAMAGE:|We happened to be there during a week with rain. On day three we found out first hand WHY there was rain damage in the room. It was literally streaming down the entry door and wall, soaking across the carpet. We called the front desk to alert them in case they didn’t know. 👀 They knew and offered to send us towels to help absorb or move us to room 213. (Move to the floor BELOW the running, banging and screaming noted above - um, no.) We will stay. Bring us towels. By the end of the week the mildew smell from all the rain was ridiculous and the rain trapped WITHIN the wall would rain down on you whenever you walked through the threshold. ||Ultimately, we left a day early. Check out is at 10 am - we were loaded by 8. The smoke 🚨 alarm sounding off was a constant reminder that it was time to go. ||When we checked out on Saturday morning I explained why we were leaving a day early to the receptionist. I did so quietly as to not cause a scene with incoming folks and guests in the lobby. She was very nice and apologetic. I simply asked for a refund of the last day cost. I was told “It shouldn’t be a problem. I will confirm with management when they get in.” I called on Monday to confirm I was told, “It was approved.”||Here we are two weeks later with no refund and a manager that is never in and refuses to return a call. It’s sad 😔. It has been a hard season for our family. We tried to be respectful and understanding the entire week. This is just another hit. You have...

Location is the saving grace for this hotel. Before I get into it, I do want to say the young man who checked us in was great! The guys working the beach chair rentals, the girls at the gift shop and dolphin bar were amazing!! Especially the gift shop woman and girl were just so sweet. The Polynesian show was awesome as well!! I was extremely mislead by the reviews on booking.com and by the companys website. The website says they have a strict noise policy which if true, isn't enforced. Two of our three nights we were up until after 2am with the sounds of music blaring up and down our hallway on the third floor and just constant noise. Our room was streetside, which I chose, but our bathroom sink was clogged almost to the point we couldn't use it, so we mostly used the one in the kitchenette. There is a fullsize fridge, but the t.v is about the size of Michael Scotts plasma. It's so small and in the farthest corner away from the beds which makes it hard to hear and see. We didn't use the stove, but it looked unstable and was probably as old I am. The elevator wasn't the best and it was quicker to just take 3 flights of stairs than it was to even mess with it. Also, the pipes run where you wait for the elevator so you get to hear the sweet sounds of toilets flushing if you choose to wait. The three pools were convenient and for my 7 seven year old he was totally happy, but unfortunately we couldn't enjoy them with him. The one with the big slide just smelled like someone urinated on all the bricks around it, the one that was in the middle on the beachside was the best one, but between the smell of weed and people yelling profanities from the balconies surrounding it, it wasn't enjoyable for long. The bathroom by the pool which is for guest only was absolutely disgusting. When my son absolutely had to use it the smell was so bad I had to stand with my foot holding the door open to let some air in while he was in there. The attendants don't speak or look up from their phones, so I didn't even waste my time trying to tell them. We only went to the indoor pool once because the intoxicated adults made it hard to enjoy. Theres no one monitoring if the people using any of the pools are actually guests or not either. Our last day we had an awful smell coming into our room, it was worse in the bathroom and smelled like old #2. And yes, I'm from Florida so I am very familiar with sulfur water and paper plants and all the smells of the sunshine state... this wasn't that. When we opened our door it was awful in the hallway too so theres no telling what it was. The location of this hotel is the best part. The tiki bar being family friendly is nice and multiple beach accesses are convenient, but just know this is the Carnival cruise of "resorts" in pcb. If you love the smell of marijuana, the sound of disorderly conduct and the way other peoples hair feels wrapped around your body in pools then you should...
