Subject: Concerns Regarding Stay at Fairfield Inn & Suites Las Vegas Stadium Area
Dear Management,
I recently stayed at your Fairfield Inn & Suites Las Vegas Stadium Area from 26 to 30 August 2024, and unfortunately, my experience was far below what I had anticipated nor met my expectations for your Brand. While I understand that renovations and improvements are sometimes necessary, the conditions during my stay were simply unacceptable, and I felt compelled to bring them to your attention. My experience was so negative that I feel a 1-star rating is justified for the following reasons:
Ongoing Construction on the 3rd Floor and Main Areas: During my stay, half of the 3rd-floor rooms (I was placed in room 340) and hallway were undergoing reconstruction, which led to constant loud noise, dirty hallways, and excessive airborne particulates from sanding and painting. As someone with asthma, this triggered multiple attacks, forcing me to use my inhaler more frequently. Additionally, the main floor, foyer, and lounging areas were also under renovation, leading to further noise and air quality issues.
Inconvenient Construction Crew Breaks: The construction crew frequently took their breaks and meals in the hallways just outside the elevator doors, which felt very inconsiderate toward guests trying to navigate the floor. The hallways should be kept clear for the safety and comfort of guests.
Poor Elevator and Common Area Conditions: The elevators were filthy, with cardboard taped up inside to protect the walls, but it gave the impression of a poorly maintained space. It wasn’t welcoming or comfortable for guests.
Room Issues:
The bathroom tiles were falling apart, and there was mold in the shower stall, which was extremely unhygienic. The room safe was inoperable and missing its door. Trash cans had no liners, and the coffee maker and microwave were dirty, indicating a lack of proper housekeeping. Several electrical items were plugged into one power strip, which raised safety concerns. I later discovered an unknown device plugged into the wall under the television, used to detect unauthorized smoking. I was not informed of its existence, which I found intrusive. No Gym Available: I was disappointed to learn that your hotel gym was closed. I was directed to use a gym at another hotel, which was highly inconvenient.
Shower and Sink Issues: The showerhead in my room was loose, which made it difficult to shower, as water was directed at the wall. The showerhead was out of reach, so I was unable to fix it myself. The sink faucet was also poorly designed, with less than an inch between the water exit and the countertop edge, resulting in water spilling onto the countertop every time it was used.
Safety Concerns and Air Quality: The construction crew had taped off half of the hallway to prevent dust spread, but a door was cut into the plastic barrier, and it was left wide open throughout the construction process. This rendered the barrier ineffective, allowing dust to circulate and exacerbating air quality issues.
Overall, the four days I spent at your property were filled with noise, dust, and many unnecessary inconveniences. If major renovations are being conducted, guests should be notified before making reservations, and the affected floors should be closed to ensure their comfort and safety.
I sincerely hope you will take my feedback seriously, as these issues greatly impacted my stay and left me with a negative impression of your property.
Thank you for your attention to these...
Read moreThe room was very clean, the bathroom was very clean as well (even though we always re-clean the toilet seat with disinfecting wipes before any use). The staff (housekeeping and kitchen, and front desk) was excellent and the continental breakfast was above average (Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs/cheese omelet, a decent (not GREAT) assortment of fresh fruits for a salad, and fruit juice. Coffee and tea go w/o saying). Kitchen staff were nice enough that even when we arrived late on one of the days we stayed, we got there like 5 mins after it had ended, they still welcomed us and waited for us to serve ourselves and asked before picking up items from the serving table(s) in case we wanted seconds. Housekeeping and front desk were very attentive and nice. My beefs: The shuttle service to/from the strip were every half hour to Mandalay Bay, and every hour to Aria on the strip. It'd be nice if they had one that went further north of the strip and higher frequency (once an hour not enough) and inconvenient. Also, cost (avg, not great). Though it was decent priced, and the continental breakfast helps to save a lot in food expense, you can still find great deals from the luxury hotels/resorts on the strip itself. My friend & his wife who traveled with us, stayed at one of those luxury hotels and paid about $50/night. Granted, you have to look for those discounts, but still... They don't have 'resort fees' (great), but do not allow pets of any kind (even small & trained dogs), parking is about $10/day (overpriced, about $10 too high). But overall, I'd stay again w/o any reservations (pun intended) other than for the price & parking fees.
Location: It's a 10 min. drive to McCarren Int'l Airport, (15 to rental car return), 3 mins to the new still under construction L.V. Raiders' stadium and highway. 7 mins to the L.V. strip, 45 mins to the Hoover Dam (highly recommend), etc.
LOL, I'm like a travel critic with my review here, but I know this was among the info we looked at before we booked a hotel for our vacation. Hopefully others will pay it forward with their reviews. I'm definitely NOT an employee of any hotel or airline nor associated in any way. We just stayed there 3rd week of June 2019 so info is very fresh in my mind.
Overall, I definitely recommend it and...
Read moreThe hotel was nice, it was super close to the Raiders stadium. The staff was really nice. Especially KT at the front desk. She was a pleasure to work with. The breakfast buffet was back to normal and it had a decent selection and pretty good food.
We had two main issues. First, we checked in at 3:17pm. 3 is the suggested start time to check in. We had 3 rooms that we had requested through Bonvoy, Marriott's travel club. In the booking instructions we asked that two of them would be adjoining. We talked to KT and she said they don't have those type of rooms but can get all 3 close. 2 next to each other and one across the hall. That was just fine. She said they weren't quite ready and it would be a little bit. she said we could relax in the lobby. We had 6 adults and a 2 year old, and a baby. We thought it would be a minute or two, ten would have been ok. We were sitting right where the front desk people were interacting with the babies and watching us all sit there. At 4:43 pm, one and half hours after check in time, we were told our rooms were ready. That was not good and they were kind to try to help us out to make up for it.
2nd, was there was a UNLV game one of the days we were there. No one told us that the parking lot becomes a pay lot for the game. so they blocked off the entrance we had been using from the street. we had to turn around and come in the back way. The parking "attendant" was completely rude to us as we were trying to get in the lot. They blocked off 1/2 of the lot for the game and we could park in the other part. We only had to show our hotel parking pass to get in but the attendant (that wasn't a hotel employee) was annoyed by us and was really rude to us. No one told us this would be the case when we left for the day, they make you pay $15 a day parking and then treat you like that. NOT OK.
An additional side note, they make you pay $15 a day per room for parking. I didn't see this anywhere on the documentation on the site or the email i got with my reservation confirmation. Admittedly, this one I may have missed but I don't know where it would have told me that...
