We were guests there from Thursday, June 24th through Sunday, June 26, 2021. It didn’t start well and ended even worse.
On Thursday, June 24th, 2021 we realized our bathroom sink was very sluggish, and it took several minutes to drain. It was particularly concerning that a considerable amount of sand, dirt and sludge came up from the drain and filled up our sink. It looked as if someone had showered after attending a sandy beach, yet the beach is well over an hour away from this hotel! We reported the sink blockage to the front desk, and requested a room change. The hotel employee stated that the hotel had no other rooms available and that we could not switch rooms. The hotel employee indicated a service person would come to the room Friday and plunge/service the sink.
When we returned to our hotel room after a funeral on Friday, June 25th, we immediately inspected the sink and it was draining better, but still not draining properly. We figured we’d report this issue on our departure on Sunday.
On Sunday, June 26th, my wife awoke at 5:15 a.m. and entered the bathroom. She had not yet turned on the light, when the hotel guest above us began showering. Then, she heard a loud gurgling noise, and sewer water began spraying on her. Quickly, she turned on the lights, and was horrified to see the sink was completely filled up. It had become a giant water fountain shooting sewer water all over the bathroom floor. The water was quickly flooding the floor, ready to overflow onto the room carpet. I quickly grabbed the ice bucket and began bailing the sink sewer water into the toilet. We grabbed all the towels to absorb the floodwater. Then, we called the front desk to report the flood, and again requested a room change. It was now after 5:30 a.m., and we were exhausted. The front desk operator said he would have to call a plumber, and that we could change rooms. We were told that once we left our room, that we would be unable to re-access it. I went down to the front desk to get a luggage cart and none were available and had to make multiple trips to move our stuff. We had to transfer our belongings to another floor in multiple trips while one of us stayed in the room.
While I was moving items, my wife heard yet another hotel guest start shower in the room above, and sure enough, a new "waterfall " percolated from the sink, and sewer water began flooding the floor. Again, she grabbed the ice bucket and feverishly bailed the sink, and moved the towels to absorb the flood from the floor so that it would not flow onto the room carpet.
One might expect that the hotel's supervisor would reach out to guests who had experienced such an awful stay, but no one ever did. Regretfully, I booked the hotel through Hotels.com, rather than through the Hampton Inn directly, thus we couldn’t ask for compensation directly from Hampton Inn.
Hotels.com indicated we purchased a non-refundable room and thus after months of "we can't reach the right person at the hotel" denied any refund. Hampton Inn indicated they'd give us some points - who the hell wants points - give us a refund for an obvious flaw with the hotel that had been a problem for a while.
I went to write this review on hotels.com and they blocked my ability to do such.
If negative stars were an option they'd get that rating.
I wished I had made a video as it was unbelievable!

Read moreI'm usually a big fan of Hampton Inns as I'm a Diamond member with Hilton. But occasionally I do run into a hotel that may carry the name "Hampton Inn" but is not up to the quality comparable to their other hotels.
The walls are paper thin where I could hear the entire conversation of my next-door neighbors. The doors are flimsy; the carpeting soaked with cigarette ash and dirt from decades prior; the elevators very close to an "Out of Order" state, with numbered buttons turned every which way but straight. Also, what's with the floor and room numbers? It wasn't a big deal but there are six floors, yet all the rooms are in the teens - I was in room 151X but on the 5th floor? The bed was okay but you could tell it was old. I sleep on a firm mattress nightly but anyone else would be in bad shape. This place is one step away from roaches with how downtrodden everything looked and felt.
Service is a joke; it seems a family bought the hotel from the previous owners and is staffed by immediate members of overseas origins. One of my room keys didn't work. I went to the front desk to hand in one and get the other re-magnetized. The front desk attendant acted like I was asking him to borrow money with the attitude I received.
Room service did not come to clean my room. The cleaning lady was parked a couple doors down from my room at 9 AM on my second day and showed no signs of moving by 10 AM. I called the front desk and asked if I needed to request room service the night prior as I was worried she would pass over my room. The front desk guy in his clipped accent said as long as there was no sign on my door, they would come by to clean. Before I left for the day, I made sure no sign was on my door. Lo and behold, when I returned that evening my room was just as I had left it - trash not taken out, the bed not made/changed, towels still on the bathroom floor with no fresh ones. I attempted to call the front desk to voice a complaint and NO ONE ANSWERED after 20 rings. Perhaps my room number (that didn't match the floor number) was placed on the "troublesome" list after my first call.
Speaking of towels, ALL of them were of the quality of the bathroom floor mats - very rough from so many washings and barely able to soak up any water. The owners are too cheap to replace these old towels, among other things. Also, the soap from the previous resident was left in the dish along with their "hair" from a certain body region, if you catch my drift.
The only upside to this place was the coffee, which was surprisingly good the morning I woke up early to escape this dump. Hampton Inn's aren't known for their breakfasts so this served the same typical meal standard across other Hampton Inns.
I'm mad that I used all my points to stay at this poor excuse of a Hampton Inn but the cheap nightly rate got my attention when I was looking for a same-day book. The nightly rate should have been a warning sign but I listened to my wallet instead of my gut. I would have given this location one star but my loyalty to the Hampton Inn brand swayed me to give two stars. Stay away from this hotel if you are a Hilton Honors member - this is a Hampton Inn...
Read moreWe were incredibly disappointed with the cleanliness of our room.
The bathroom felt very unsanitary. Firstly, the bathroom ended up having many flies flying around and landing on the ceiling, towels and shower curtains. In addition, when I went to take a shower, I discovered that the water would build up in the tub and not drain properly. Even half an hour later, barely any of the water was drained. Lastly, when I went to grab a towel to dry myself off, the first towel I grabbed had two disgusting brown stains. For me, that was the last nail in the coffin. I felt incredibly disgusted.
In addition, when we requested to swap out our feather pillows for non-feather pillows (as one of us is allergic), one of the replaced pillows had a brown streak on its pillowcase.
The air in the rooms was also very dry especially when sleeping at night. We brought a leaf inside that we wanted to preserve and within just a matter of a couple of hours, the leaf completely dried out and shriveled up!
Thankfully, when we brought the cleanliness issues up to the front desk, the employee assisted us by moving us to a new room that seemed to not have any of these problems, so we were grateful for her despite it being the middle of the night.
Overall the price we paid for the stay was NOT worth it considering we ran into these basic problems. I would not stay here again. This is incredibly surprising considering that Hampton has a generally good reputation.
One other thing to mention is that although we used the Hilton messaging app to request our room to have the feather pillows swapped out with non-feather pillows before our visit, the app made zero difference. Despite the employee promising that he would swap our pillows, we still had feather pillows upon our arrival and had to go to the front desk to request the pillows to be swapped out.
I will say there are a few things we were happy with. Firstly, when we arrived early (before check-in), although we were completely fine with waiting and checking in later, the employee at the front desk kindly waived the early check-in fee for us and let us check in early. Second, an employee at the front desk that moved us to a different room upon hearing our issues with the bathroom, was very quick and polite, even in the middle of the night. Third, we greatly enjoyed the food provided at the free breakfast, as it had a good variety of foods to choose from and was very tasty. (I really enjoyed the fact that they even had waffle irons and batter to cook your own...
