I recently had a very disturbing event at your Fairfield at 2215 N. Atherton Street in State College PA. I stayed April 5-6 for a visit with my son. Everything went fine and we were coming back for a stay on April 7th. Before leaving on April 5th I confirmed the stay on the 7th with Kelvin. He said everything was in order for a King Suite Room.
When we returned on the 7th, Kelvin was again at the desk and he told me they did not have my room. They gave it to someone that checked in the day before and they wished to extend their stay.
So your Marriott did not honor my existing reservation and instead gave it to another customer. I am a loyal Marriott customer, but that decision might have to change if making a reservation doesn't guarantee a room.
Kelvin provided a smaller room which was not satisfactory as I had 3 individuals being put in a room with one bed. No other rooms were available and Kelvin didn't even acknowledge a problem. All he stated was that he "called me to tell me" earlier in the day that he gave away my room. I have no missed calls or voicemails from Kelvin or anyone else at Marriott. Kelvin also continued to charge me for the Suite and not adjust the rate for the smaller room. Absolutely no accommodations were made, no reason was given, I was to just accept his decision to favor another customer without a reservation over myself with a reservation.
I do not believe this hotel and this service is compatible with the Marriott brand. I definitely will not be returning to your hotel.
Disappointed Marriott...
Read moreI stayed here one evening, on a weeknight while visiting the area for business. The overall property is nicely maintained, which is impressive given how dated the fixtures, carpet and overall appearance of it is, especially in the room I was in. ||||||The young lady who checked me in was awesome... very friendly and helpful. The room was comfy and very clean. The bathroom was spotless, very clean and the shower in it had amazing pressure. The tub area was very clean as well. The hand soap was tiny, but it worked. Only issue with the room was the light in the entry area, near the door to the room (ceiling light inside the room) didn’t work. || ||||TV worked well and had more channels than I think I’ve ever seen at a hotel! So many channels, too bad the channel guide didn’t work, so I needed to actually go to each channel to see what’s playing to know what to watch. || ||||The room could definitely benefit from having more outlets too, so phones, laptops, etc can be plugged in, especially next to the bed. ||||||This property has an indoor pool and also a gym. The gym has a set of dumbells and three pieces of cardio. The treadmill was Lifefitness and it worked great. It was disgustingly coated with sweat though, so maybe hotel cleaning staff can keep a better eye on it while cleaning other common areas. ||||||Overall, I liked the property and I’d definitely...
Read moreI wanted to leave a review about my recent stay here in State College. Before complaining I want to say that the front desk staff was nothing but perfect. I was having trouble with my TV and Nick went above and beyond to help figure out what was wrong. He wouldn't stop until the problem was fixed (turns out the plug was slightly pulled out of the socket) and he was fun to talk to. The day front desk guy (I forget his name) was very kind and took my complaint serious and helped me get into a better room immediately. Now for the complaint: I was first put in room 128. It had a weird smell. Over night I was sneezing and woke up with a scratchy throat, red itchy eyes, and mild asthma. I thought I must be getting sick but I left to eat breakfast with my family and my symptoms disappeared. When I returned to my room they came back with a vengeance. I couldn't stand to be in there- my body was reacting strongly to something in that room. Since it is a ground level room it makes sense to me that it was mold. It was musty. I was given a room on the 3rd floor and my symptoms again disappeared. I hope the hotel takes this seriously and tests room 128 for mold. Also I hope they comment Nick and the other guy for being great...
