Mattress Firm State College — Hotel in Patton Township

If i had the option to give zero stars, I would. I will never use Mattress Firm again, especially in State College, and I will always recommend to others to stay away from them as well.

This specific store provided the absolute worst service I have ever had as a customer in any sort of establishment. I have never even written a review before today, but I felt the need to write this after the nightmare of an experience I had with this store.

On the day my mattress was supposed to be delivered, I received a call that it would not be ready for another four days. I slept on my couch those four nights. Next, when my mattress was delivered, it came 30 minutes before my scheduled two hour time zone, forcing me to rush home. When I got there, the delivery people gave me the incorrect bed frame which did not fit my mattress, and I did not know this until I had already put it together myself.

When I called to ask for help, I was told I had to go pick up a new one myself. They did not even have the decency to drop it off themselves. On top of that, I had to take apart the whole bed frame they originally gave me and throw it in the dumpster myself as well.

I had never bought a mattress prior to last weekend. I was told by friends and family to prepare for high pressure sales and overselling. I did not experience any of that at Mattress Firm! Trent was amazing. He was patient and kind and I really felt like he wanted to help me find what I needed despite it obviously not being a big ticket sale (kids bunk bed mattresses). After patiently showing me different options and allowing me time to make a painfully slow decision, he generously gave us time to try out the more expensive beds as well and answer questions that were completely irrelevant to the sale, even from my curious 6yo. He gave my husband and I time to talk over our options and was available when we were ready. The other staff were also friendly and pleasant. I will go back to Mattress Firm on N Atherton again for any future mattress needs. Despite not haggling over price or pressuring me into a sale, Trent did give us a fair discount at the checkout, which I was honestly not expecting. I am so glad to be able to shop a brick and mortar store that employs community members (especially such kind ones). I hope this store is open and under Trent's management for many...

Thanks to Joe Manager of the Hanover store for taking such great care with our order. While filling in at the State College location we purchased a mattress from him for our 12-yr old daughter. He was very knowledgeable about the various product lines and took time to explain each mattress and let her try each one out before deciding. Joe from Hanover was such a pleasure to work with, especially when our order was delayed for shipping due to the base being on backorder. Despite being back in Hanover, Joe was responsive to our frustrations, addressed the issue and worked to make it right. While certainly not his fault for the lack of communication on the delivery issue, Joe did what a manager should do and assist the customer with whatever options they have available.

Although the State College store has a lot of new/inexperienced personnel working that would make me question ever buying something from them again, I wouldn't think twice about calling Joe from Hanover and ordering from him.
