Updated on January 12, 2024:
I can't improve my review of this restaurant because order inaccuracy continues to be a problem. I can forgive issues like slow service, but when I buy something, I expect to get what I paid for, not a pizza missing toppings that costs them less to make.
The order accuracy of Papa John's has fallen to as low as 60%, which is completely unacceptable, so I stopped going there. As I've stated in other reviews, I don't understand how with Papa John's limited number of ingredients one of out every three orders would be incorrect.
I would estimate that Domino's probably has an accuracy of 95%, so I order Domino's now, and you should too.
I edited this review to state that on April 20, 2021 at 7:22pm, Papa John's employees were observed making pizzas and talking inside the building while not wearing masks, and while improperly wearing ineffective bandana masks that didn't cover their noses. This is the second time this month we saw that employees were not wearing masks.
I had purchased hundreds of pizzas at Papa John's religiously for 13 years at this location. For potentially exposing me to the virus, I reported this violation to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and will never visit any Papa John's location again. There is an epidemic going on right now in this area. This incident is not a single mistake, but one instance of a pattern of dangerous behavior that could get someone killed.
Additionally, I reported the masks issue to Papa John's by submitting a support ticket to them. They failed to reply.
At Pizza Hut, every employee I've seen wears N95 or KN95 masks, which is why I am now buying pizzas from there.
Before that, Papa John's order accuracy has been slipping. I'd say it's now as low as 60% for my orders. One night, they had only one driver, and it was too late for me to stay up for them to correct their error, so I had to drink Soylent instead.
It's not difficult to read the label and make a pizza with the correct ingredients. At the time, I lowered my review from 5 stars to 3, and have started to order from other restaurants like Chipotle, which has never made a single error.
Their delivery timing is also a problem. Twice, I pre-ordered from them for an 8:15pm delivery, and the food showed up as early as 7:50, when I was still in a meeting and could not leave. It had to be left outside and was cold and awful by the time I was able to eat it. I don't expect perfect timing, but 25 minutes early is unacceptable.
It's a shame that a chain can get the hard part right - the food - but get the easy part wrong - putting the right ingredients...
Read moreOrdered two pizzas with the mailer deal. Pepperoni and banana peppers on one and the other was a well done, bacon and pineapple pizza.
The pepperoni pizza was fine when it arrived. The other had no pineapple at all. I called to tell them this and the associate that answered the phone said maybe I ordered the wrong pizza and maybe it was a specialty bbq pizza. I said it wasnât and the sticker on the box said so. She gave me to the manager who proceeded to ask if I ordered from the other store across town. I said no and gave her the order number. She asked about the driver to verify it was their location and my description was enough to let her know it was her location. She finally found the order and saw that I indeed ordered what I told her and not the bbq variety. She told me that maybe the pineapple was maybe smaller and that with multiple topping pizzas they lessen the ingredients and I stopped her as she spoke to say there was no pineapple at all and not that it was just lessened (Never mind the fact that I pay for the toppings individually and they shouldnât be lessened).
She finally asked if she could make another one and send it out to make it right. I said great and appreciated it.
The replacement pizza came and I opened it to see there was in fact pineapple on it and told my wife her replacement was here. She smelled it and said it was a bbq pizza of some sort. And that it had Canadian bacon on it instead of regular bacon. This new version was also wrong and even worse than the first. Needless to say, it will not get eaten as it wasnât close to what we wanted.
So sad. It shouldnât be hard to double check a replacement item that was made wrong the 1st time. There is no quality control at this location and will keep us from ordering from Papa Johnâs...
Read moreDo you want the RUDEST service in town? Then Papa John's on North Atherton, State College, PA is the place for you! I used to order pizza thereânot because of the taste, but because itâs the closest pizza point to my home for takeout. I ordered online and received an email saying it would be ready in 18 minutes. Then I got a notification 20 minutes later that it was ready. I arrived after 30 minutes, but the cashier couldnât find my order at first. After some time, he finally found it, but told me it wasnât ready and asked me to wait another 3-5 minutes. I was in a rush, so I told him I had received a notification saying my order was ready and that I needed to leave ASAP.
When my order was eventually ready, a different staff member, who was preparing the pizzas, SLAMMED them onto the counter without calling my name and said, 'Here it is, and you get a coupon.' The look on his face was angry and hostile. I was shocked, so I told him he could treat customers more politely since it wasnât my fault I received the notification early. At that moment, the cashier came over and told me, "You donât need to order from here anymore. FLY FROM HERE!"
Thatâs the end of me ever ordering from Papa John's....
