We stayed for two nights in Peoria and booked at the Edn Hotel, and after reading some of the reviews figured it couldn't be too bad. It wasn't. But it wasn't great, either. The lobby has all the personality of a bus station. Check in was easy enough, though, and the room on the third floor was ok. That's about it - Ok.
The door looked busted at first glance but apparently the lock had been replaced, leaving a huge gash in the frame were the latch would, well, latch. The inside of the door showed were it had been painted around the old lock, as nobody had bothered to repaint the door. Locked pretty bad and the door itself was rattling when closed since the door latch (see above) didn't really fit. The safety latch didn't really inspire a lot of confidence once engaged.
Vacuuming didn't seem a high priority, lots of stuff on the floor, especially the corners and around the baseboards. Cleanliness in general had LOTS of room for improvement.
Bed sheets had fairly big brown stains on them.
The sink was a joke with the faucet running a thin stream of water just past the rim so you couldn't really was your hands. Hot water (whether for hand washing or taking a shower) wasn't available. At best it was barely luke warm - if that. So no hot shower after a long drive. The shower fixture was busted in pieces and just a metal piece sticking out of the shower wall.
The elevator door was shutting on me and wouldn't retract as apparently the safety switch didn't engage. It hit pretty hard and actually pinned me to the frame so I had to push it back with both hands. The maintenance guy happened to walk by and said "Oh, it did the same to me last night." Really? Well, fix the thing or call the elevator service tech!
For a Sunday night in April it was really quiet and the best feature of our stay and the only reason for 2 stars. Else it would be 1 star. A few kids running up and down the hall and some fools coming from the pool with only a towel around the hips walking around the place - can't unsee some things.
Had worse stays at other hotels but the Edn certainly is in the bottom third of our hotel experiences. The bottom of the bottom third. Do yourself a favor and keep looking. We wouldn't stay...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE This place is awful, my room was dirty, the window blinds fell out of the window when I tried to lower them, and then I had to sleep with the bright light from the parking lot shining into my room all night, floors were dirty, no washcloths in the bathroom, no hairdryer in the room, (and i don't think I've EVER stayed at a hotel with no hairdryer SOMEWHERE) then they have a sign by the check in that says they charge $100 deposit for damage or whatever and acted weird when I gave them my credit card and not cash, then went to breakfast and there was hardly anything offered for breakfast, garbage was almost overflowing in the breakfast area, tables were dirty and no one was even trying to clean up breakfast area, AND if you want a pool during your stay too bad, because despite their website saying there is a pool, got there and it says under maintenance. Only reason I did not ask for a different room was because it was midnight when I arrived and I was exhausted. There was also a brand new window blind in the room so I'm pretty sure they knew there was a problem with the blinds. If you are looking for a nice clean hotel in peoria this...
Read moreWe take out a week every month or so to give ourselves a break .... So we spend a lot of time in hotels! The EDN Peoria was our choice last month - and we were very glad we chose them!
Everything was clean and orderly. The front desk was extremely outgoing and helpful. If we needed anything, like a broom or even a vacuum - it was readily available for the asking.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming! Everything was very clean. We really enjoyed their morning breakfast included with our stay each day.
The indoor pool that was very clean and a welcome break on a day that was too chilly to swim outside.
I would highly recommend EDN.(We call it "Eden", as in the "Garden of" because it was such a nice experience!) We will most definitely...
