I did a team building event with my coworkers (game masters from our escape room in Richmond) this evening. We chose the 80's prom room and it was AMAZING.
I will start from when I walked into the SUPER COOL lobby. Great places for photo ops with your friends. The lady(whose name I don't remember and am so sorry) who owns it and her team member greeted me right away and we're INCREDIBLY pleasant and nice to chat with. The lobby has very comfortable couches where I played with locks during my wait for my coworkers to arrive. The ladies at the desk told me about their mobile escape room launch which I am SUPER excited about and I was able to use their very clean ladies room.
When my friends arrived, we were given a cool backstory and got to go into the 80's Prom room. Immediately, I thought it was very neat just with the decor. Then we got to the puzzles which were very well thought out and clever. I work in escape rooms so it takes a lot to impress me and I was IMPRESSED. We escaped with the new fastest time and zero clues(which I personally challenge anyone reading this to beat) and got to write our names on the door.
I would 10/10 recommend this place. I love that it's a local, veteran owned business and was so welcoming and fun. When I learned that the owners and staff actually designed and wrote their own rooms, I was TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY. THIS ROOM IS FANTASTIC and I cannot wait to play the rest! Everyone in Petersburg should book a game immediately....
Read moreI sent my cousin, one of her local bridesmaids and her mom to Escape Old Towne for her Bachelorette party. The booking process online was very easy, and calling and confirming a few days before was very simple. I chose the Alice in Wonderland themed room as it was the easiest and none of them had done an escape room before. Before they arrived, Escape had called to double check that they would be running on time for their 2:15 room. The girls all stated that the woman helping introduce them to the escape room process was very helpful and thorough and they felt confident enough to begin. I was told that although initially they were frustrated, they were able to work together and power through and finish with about a minute to spare! In their words, the experience was "bomb" and they would love to go back! I truly wish that I had been able to attend this experience, as I love escape rooms, but living in Rhode Island during Covid with an infant and toddler at home made this impossible. The next time that I am able to visit my cousin safely, I will be sure to...
Read moreEscape Room aficionados here... or addicts, at least. We've hit rooms across the states, stopping randomly as we road trip. So glad I-95 took us past this gem! The staff were terrific and understand that the staff experience can be just as critical as the room itself. The room (Get a Clue) was relatively simple with numerous padlocks and minimal tech trap doors or magnets, which normally turns us off, but the puzzles were delightfully challenging and varied! Also, the room was wonderfully aligned with the board game, making it feel more immersive as well as nostalgic. Our family of five (kids aged 8 to 14) finished in about 40 minutes. While there, we were fortunate to try out their Mobile Escape Room. What a fun mission in a tight space that would be great for any corporate or organizational party. You never think they could cram it in that trailer and be able to drive it...
