This hotel is very mixed in its quality…some good and some bad.||Cons:|- When arrived used the luggage cart but the cart were like ones you find at an airport versus a regular hotel cart with places to hang things.|- Hotel took picture of my id at check in..only ever had that happen in Europe|- Supposed to have ice machine on every floor. Does not. When used stairs to switch floors noticed a very strong bad smell. Garbage bags left piled high (see picture).|- Room had someone else’s belongings in one of the drawers. Makes me question how thoroughly the room was cleaned. |- This room is a kitchenette but there is only one plate and one bowl. |- Bathroom door is barn style but the set up is such that you could easily pinch your finger.|- Remote for tv hardly works (probably needs new batteries).|- Breakfast was typical cereal, scrambled eggs, yogurt, bread, sausage, waffles, fruit and juice. Fruit was fresh. Waffle mix dispenser was either clogged or empty. The timer on the waffle machine did not work. Silverware was plastic.|- Pool closed for maintenance.|- No place to pull car to front entrance to load/unload luggage.|- Front desk challenged us when asking for more towels stating room already had two bath towels. |- Fan in bathroom does not work. |- Fridge small for kitchenette more like mini bar size but does include a freezer.|- Room could use 1) more than 3 drawers, night stands with drawers, more than one luggage rack (due to lack of drawers)|- A/C unit is type you see in cheaper hotels where the unit blows on the bed all night (but there is a thermostat control)||Pros:|- Fairly new hotel…does not look worn.|- Lots of pillows and bedding included a blanket.|- Lots of outlets throughout the room.|- Adequate lighting.|- Beds are comfortable.|- Curtains allow you to keep out light.|- Microwave, dishwasher, stove top and cooking utensils included.|- Shower water temperature/ pressure adequate.|- Lots of counter space in bathroom.|- Two desk chairs (not those are the only chairs)|- Adequate room to move around for 2 people.|- A/C unit cools adequately.||Bottom line is that next time we are in the area, we will use one of the other two hotels across the parking lot verses staying in this particular...
Read moreI still have not figured out what the “plus” stands for, because there was nothing “plus” about this Best Western. We visit Phoenix several times a year and we prefer to stay in this area. We’ve stayed at several other hotels around Happy Valley and this was by far the most disappointing stay. I typically don’t “nit pick” hotels but we were fed up by the time we checked out.
Upon checking in, another guest was mentioning to the front desk clerk that their room was never cleaned and they needed clean towels. The man at the front desk told the guest to bring the dirty towels down to him and then he’d give them clean towels in return. I’m sorry, why are you expecting your guests to do the cleaning?
Turns out we had the same exact experience. We stayed 3 nights and not once was our room ever cleaned. Are we still using Covid or understaffing as an excuse to not clean your guests’ rooms? This hotel isn’t exactly cheap. If you’re going to charge your guests over $100 a night for a hotel room, then cleaning needs to be included OR you need to lower your prices to match “motel” prices. Unacceptable.
Our TV also didn’t work for the entirety of our stay. We were told by 2 separate employees that someone would come down to fix it and nobody showed. We asked for a new remote and the new remote didn’t work. Mentioned this to the man at the front desk and were asked why we didn’t try the remote on the TV in the lobby first. If the remote doesn’t work on our TV in the room we paid for, why in the world would I walk out to the lobby to test the remote there?
The coffee machine in the room did not come with coffee cups. I suppose you need to provide those yourself. Sheets had stains on them and there was trash under the beds and the vanity in the bathroom.
Breakfast options were completely out at 8am when we went to eat. Ended up going out for breakfast since food was never replenished.
May I suggest a name change to “Worst Western...
Read moreWe have stayed here at least a few times.
One of the older employees that was (is still?) there was gruff and short with us. Unfriendly.
We called down for bedding for the pullout sofa bed and, at that time, a woman (she did not mention her name) said she was alone at the front desk. She said she could not leave the front desk unattended and it would be after midnight until she could get the bedding to us (the bedding that we put on the booking request). She claimed the lobby was full of guests checking into the hotel. The hotel did not appear too busy at that time and we did offer go down to get the bedding from the front desk ourselves. She said we would still have to wait (again, until past midnight). When we went downstairs to see if there was someone else there to help us with the bedding situation and there was no one else in the lobby except for this woman and another guy both behind the check in desk.
In the morning, we saw what appeared to be housekeeping eating at the breakfast area.
The sheets were the thinnest, cheapest sheets we have ever seen in a hotel before.
We also had to search for a luggage cart upon intial check in to the hotel the first time there.
We took all this in stride, but the last straw with this Best Western in Deer Valley AZ, was when we were checked in on a different stay and there was already another hotel guest in the room we were assigned.
Felt bad for that other guest and we politely checked out before a third full stay and never came back.
The hotel is conveniently located, the water worked well, the beds were comfortable when we did stay, the room we stayed in had a refrigerator and microwave that worked and a small balcony.
It is also worth noting that some of the employees (possibly one of them being the owner) were really friendly and seemed...
