I just wanted to drop a note and let the other Hotel seekers out there know that this is another GREAT Candlewood Suites to stay at. My check-in experience was perfect, quick and flawless. Kori, the Manager here at this Hotel does a great job hiring what I consider an almost perfect Staff (Since no-one is actually perfect, I have to say almost, lol). Kori, Cooper, John, and Chima were extremely accommodating and very very nice Employees. I literally had a perfect stay. I have no complaints and I really enjoy giving credit where credit is due. I pride myself on being fair and balanced and feel too many People only go out and put reviews up only when they have a bad experience. Fortunately, this Hotel treats their Guests so well, it has earned a 4.4-star rating due to the great reviews that People have felt compelled to write. This is a perfect example of how to treat People. Of course, we all know that you can't please everyone, especially those of us that have been in the service industry most of our lives.||So, on to the things that pleased me the most. The bed was great and I slept very well. The room smelled pleasant when I entered it and it was very clean. The housekeeping staff was excellent. When my room was cleaned, it was cleaned. I am a very clean person and my standards are high and the Housekeeping staff met those needs. Anytime that I needed something that involved the front desk staff, they were so nice and friendly. I saw one review where someone complained that there was a liquor store next to the Hotel with some very questionable characters coming in and out of it. Really? There are questionable characters everywhere, lol. People that read my reviews, please understand that others that write things like this on a Hotels website amaze me. Don't hurt a business's reputation by highlighting something they literally have 0 control over. So there is a liquor store, so what! Some may be happy it is there. This Hotel's rooms are all interior rooms. If a liquor store scares you, stay inside. You are safe there. The only open entrance to the Hotel is the front lobby where you WILL be seen by a staff member upon entering as well as multiple cameras. All the other doors to the Hotel are locked and require your room key to enter. Also, the Staff knows who and who is not a guest as they engage personally with everyone, as far as I saw, and I pay very close attention to how People are treated out there with regards to businesses. I spent time every night outside at the lounge area and felt zero threats to my safety from the patrons of the liquor store, lol. I only saw one questionable character out there and he actually entertained me riding his bicycle around the parking lot and he was having a blast. It made me laugh. I only say this because this is not an appropriate thing to review a hotel by. I never once felt unsafe in this area. There are great stores and restaurants very close by and I enjoyed the town. My reviews are based on the product itself and this Hotel Rocks. There can always be inconveniences and things that go wrong, in any establishment out there, bottom line. For instance, I had a slow drain. I mentioned it to Kori on a Saturday but Maintenace was not back in until Monday morning. When I arrived back from work that Monday evening, the problem was fixed. There will always be problems or inconveniences, but how the Staff handles them is what makes the Guests happy. They are getting geared up to do a full renovation and I hope to be sent back to this area for work so I can see what they do. For the price, the Staff and how well the Hotel is managed, I HIGHLY recommend giving them a try. I personally did not feel the Hotel was very dated, so it should be really really nice once they are done. Kori, Cooper, John and Chima, Thanks again for making me feel at home. This is where I will be staying the next time in Richardson for work. Have a GREAT day all, I appreciate the 5-star service. Oh, by the way, I am not affiliated or an Employee of IHG in any way so my...
Read moreThis hotel had been a previous favorite of mine and my girlfriend. No more. I booked thru Priceline and checked in just before midnight. They will charge your card $25 security deposit per night and max at $150. It will take a few days to be refunded. I was asked the reason for my stay? I had not been asked that before and told her because we needed a hotel room. They allow dogs and I have stayed many times in the past with my dog and had never been charged additional for a pet fee. After getting our bags from the car, we walked past the front desk where "Sara" stopped us and asked if the dog was a service animal? I answered honestly by saying, no. Sara said she was sorry but I would need to pay an additional fee. I asked why that was given my multiple previous stays and had not been charged extra. I got upset and rather than argue, I went out to my car while my girlfriend went to the room. While sitting in the car in the front parking lot, I saw the trash dumpsters (that were semi hidden by gates) had rats actively running around the containers. I took my dog over to them and she quickly flushed one out, caught it and killed it. By that time it was past 1:30 AM and my girlfriend came out and suggested I pay the pet fee and take the matter up with the manager in the morning. I went back in and Sara had me sign a pet agreement and asked me to swipe my card for a charge of $33 plus change for the pet fee. The room charge and the deposit had already been charged with the card but, my luck ended as the charge was declined. It was run three times but, declined. I verified with the bank that it had funds available but, Sara said I wouldn't be able to take the dog to the room. I took out my cash to pay the fee but, Sara said she can't accept cash as she has no way to post it. Any employee faced with such a situation should have taken the cash, noted the situation and referred it to the day manager to follow up with me. I was not given that option. It was then past 3:00 AM and I had no choice but, to leave and I told my girlfriend that she should stay since she needed to get some sleep and I would go home with the dog. Sara told me I needed to call Priceline and add my girlfriend to the reservation since it was made in my name.... Even though she had her bags in the room already. I was very upset with Sara at that point and decided to show her my call log in my phone and pointed to the record and told her that our reason for the stay was because I had an appointment later that morning at the "Cancer center" because I had just been diagnosed with throat cancer. I was livid when Sara responded by saying, "Congratulations." There is no excuse for her conduct. It reflects poorly on the hotel for having such an insensitive employee at the desk with such poor customer service skills. I left the hotel soon after but, my girlfriend stayed behind to wait for a friend to get her since I was going in the opposite direction. A final note: The following day I saw that the pet fee charge had gone thru as it was posted to my account. I sent a message to their corporate office but, have not been contacted yet. I have not received any refunds either, even though we did not...
Read moreThis is the best hotel (Candlewood) I have ever been to hands-down! I mean when I say these people go above and beyond to make sure their guests are taken care of and if you have ANY problems, you won't be treated badly for making suggestions or asking a question at the front desk. This hotel really knows what it means to make sure the needs of every single guest are met. For the price, I would've expected bad service just like at two of the other Candlewood properties, to be specific, Candlewood by the Galleria, where I had problems that were unimaginable caused by staff members and Candlewood at Jupiter and President George Bush Turnpike, where the Manager told me that they only changed sheets every 6 days and that I couldn't exchange sheets and make the bed myself, even with COVID-19 Pandemic going on. I thought that was strange. I mean thats a violation of my rights and a safety concern if you ask me. I simply love the design of this hotel and the staff makes you feel right at home as soon as you arrive and they always have a smile on their faces. They even helped me fix my problem having to do with my points and stays being deleted out of the system by the other two hotels so that I couldn't accumulate free nights. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone whether you are here from out of town for business or pleasure, or if you need a good comfortable place to stay. They have full size refrigerators with ice maker, and a cooktop, dishwashers, blow dryers, iron and ironing board, and a gym and laundry room for your use for free as long as you buy your own soap. Every room is equipped with with dishes. cups, eating and cooking utensils, a toaster, coffee maker and basic pots and pans. Its a home away from home. They provide body wash, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the showers, along with dishwashing liquid under the sink. You could change the saying "There's no place like home!: to Candlewood Suites located in Plano North is almost like being at home. I'm gonna miss them. The Candlewood Cupboard here is always fully stocked with a nice selection of odds and ends that you may need during your stay including a variety of food, beverage and snack choices unlike the other two locations who rarely had anything to offer....
