I recently spent a week at IGH, and overall, the experience was memorable, though there were a few areas for improvement.
Location: The hotelās location was one of its biggest strengths. Situated in the heart of Plymouth, it was conveniently close to popular attractions, restaurants, and public transportation, making it easy to explore the area. The nearby park added a nice touch of greenery and a serene escape from the hustle and bustle.
Check-in/Check-out: The check-in process was smooth and efficient. The front desk staff were welcoming and provided all the necessary information about the hotel and surrounding areas. Check-out was equally hassle-free, with the option for express service, which was convenient for my early morning departure.
Room: My room was comfortable, well-maintained, and equipped with modern amenities like a flat-screen TV, minibar, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The bed was plush and ensured a good nightās sleep after long days of exploring. However, the bathroom, though clean, felt a bit small, and the water pressure in the shower could have been better.
Dining: I had several meals at the hotelās restaurant, and while breakfast was consistently good with a wide selection of fresh fruits, pastries, and hot dishes, dinner was hit or miss. The service was attentive, but some of the main courses were a bit underwhelming for the price. On a brighter note, the rooftop bar provided a stunning view of the city skyline, making it a great spot to unwind.
Amenities: The hotel offered a range of amenities, including a fitness center, which I used a few times. It was well-equipped and never crowded, which was a plus. Thereās also a spa, but I didnāt get a chance to try it. The complimentary Wi-Fi was reliable, making it easy to work or relax online. However, the pool was closed for maintenance during my stay, which was disappointing.
Service: The staff were friendly and professional throughout my stay. Housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping the room tidy, and the concierge was always available to provide helpful tips on local activities. One small hiccup occurred when I requested extra towels, and it took longer than expected for them to be delivered, but that was a minor issue.
Overall: My week at IGH was enjoyable, thanks to its prime location, comfortable rooms, and excellent service. While there were a few areas that could use improvement, such as dining consistency and some facilities, I would definitely consider staying here again, especially for the convenience and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I were able to rate this hotel with negative stars, I would do so. The customer service and level of ineptitude at the management level is unbelievable.
My wife called to confirm a reservation three separate times and with each call (the last one with the hotel manager) they confirmed that our reservation for an adjoining room for my 10 year old daughterās birthday party would be available.
We requested the adjoining room for safety purposes, so my daughter nor her friends would have to enter the hallway at any time to get to my wife.
Fast forward, we arrive on the day of the party, my wife is given the keys, and we go upstairs to find that we have two rooms, but no adjoining door.
Long story short, (if this is even possible) we understood that things happen and someone extending their stay was not in the control of the hotel.
We were just asking that the hotel make us whole and comp the rooms for the inconvenience.
Did they honor our request initially? Absolutely not! Instead, we were not only told no, but we were threatened with having the Plymouth Police Department called on us, so they could remove us from the property for requesting the hotel comp our stay.
Instead, we called the police and upon arrival and understanding that this was a civil matter and not criminal, the wonderful police officer agreed with us and believed that the hotel should comp the room for the inconvenience.
Almost three hours later and several continuous conversations with the hotel manager that made the mistake(this was by phone, even though the sign on the wall said āManager on Dutyā) she finally accepted culpability for her mistake and eventually comped the room.
This is a warning to anyone planning to stay at this location. Even when you call multiple times to confirm your reservation ( my wife called two weeks before, one week before, and the day before our arrival) you may still not receive what has been confirmed by the employees at this hotel. More specifically, Trina Thompson (hotel manager) that confirmed our reservation the day before and then instructed her employee over the phone to call the police because we would not accept her not taking responsibility for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stayed here for the first time, pre-Covid, right after the hotel first opened and it was really a nice hotel at that time. Structurally, it still is, but it is starting to show some wear and tear. Room tiles a little loose, stains on lobby carpet. Nothing major, but not quite as pristine as it once was. They also should properly train the desk clerks in hospitality ettiquette and how to greet guests with common courtesy. At check in, I was poker-face stared at for several seconds before the young lady made some sort of noise, like "hmm?!" Doesn't give the best first impression when your desk people can't even be bothered with a simple "Good morning/afternoon/evening, are you checking in?" or just speaking for that matter. I suppose it was made worse by the fact that my first stay was stellar with exceptional team members in every department - managers, food prep, desk personnel. To be fair, the daytime clerk was polite and professional. ||Our room was otherwise clean with somewhat hard mattresses. No issues with the bathroom. Nice Dove toiletry products. ||The pool area was awful. There seems to be some sort of ventilation problem because there was an overwhelming chlorine/mildew smell and the water looked more murky than it should be. It was really muggy and stiflingly hot in the pool room itself - which prompted us to quickly retreat. ||Parking was never a problem and the location is right next door to a McDonalds with a Starbucks across the street. The view from our window was interesting as there is a drive-in theater right next door. ||My only other issue was a minor safety issue. We arrived late one evening to find about a dozen men hanging around the entrance and spilling out into the parking lot. This felt rather intimadating as a female traveler, but luckily the side doors allowed entry with the room key card. I was able to enter the hotel from the side door without issue. ||I would probably stay here again, but I was a bit disappointed that this hotel didn't live up to my original experience. For that reason, I will consider other hotels when in the area and not exclusively book...
