This location is slipping into bad habits. When it first opened I came here often. I live down the road and love the fresh ingredients and nicer offerings for breakfast. I truly liked this place and was shocked how consistent, quick and great tasting it was. Portion control on all dishes is awful. I'm not sure if it's the cook, the recipe, or the expo/chef suggesting the portions or if it's coming from a corporate chef but, it definitely needs attention. In the beginning, it was very consistent. As time has gone on, its a throw of the dice on what you will get. Maybe you will get a normal portion, maybe you'll, get something you didn't order, maybe the portion will be out of wack.
The dishes I am speaking of are the Chorizo hash, another hash, and all of the omelettes. The potatoes in the hash were undercooked. The smaller pieces were cooked great. The larger ones were still very firm. Maybe a smaller cut is in order? Maybe a longer cook time? Every time I ordered the hash the protein was almost nonexistent. Kind of sad considering the dish sounds wonderful on paper. I have worked the the Food and beverage industry for 23 years as a chef. I kid you not, the portion "special protein" was less than 1oz. The omelettes are the same way. Sometimes they are great. sometimes not. More and more often they tend to be bad. This location is always busy on the weekends. So I can understand how a unexperienced server may get flustered. I can also understand if the kitchen may get overwhelmed. It happens to the best of us. My girlfriend had ordered GF toast. She received the regular multigrain bread. She doesn't have a allergy thank goodness. The sever took about 20 minutes before he circled back to ask if everything came out alright. I feel with small changes and attention to detail this place could shine like it did when it first opened. I truly hope they get back to that kind of service, good tasting food and...
Read moreWe are frequent customers at the First Watch at Crocker Park in Westlake, Ohio. We were in town in Plymouth, Michigan visiting my son, my daughter-in-law and two grandsons. We decided to go to breakfast at this new location this past Sunday arriving at 9:05. The restaurant was 1/4 of the way full when we arrived and there was only a party of 9 ahead of us. During the next hour and 10 minutes the hostess seated only call ahead parties. She was a high school student who was extremely rude and unprofessional when addressed. Two of the adults in our party are educators and one a school administrator and we’re stunned as all previous locations we have dined at had such cordial young people representing your establishment. Twice during this period we politely spoke with the restaurant manager who assured us both times we were next to be seated. Unfortunately, he did not stick to being truthful and seated two more couples that walked in. At this point, the conversation got heated and we expressed our frustration with the lack of hospitality we were shown. Because we are unusually familiar with First Watch restaurants we have never witnessed only call ahead parties seated while walk-in customers are completely ignored while multiple tables were clearly available. Again, accountability for the lack of friendliness and providing equal service to all guests needs to be addressed. This experience was such a disappointment we left and went to another restaurant right around the corner where we were greeted with a smile and seated upon arrival. So sad for the rest of the First Watch restaurants that ROCK! Such a terrible first impression of...
Read moreFirst time at First Watch. Our server was fantastic, five stars to her. Food, I had the Classic Eggs Benedict with a side of grits and a small fruit bowl. My Eggs Benny was just okay. In place of Canadian Bacon it was thinly sliced ham lunch meat. Not sure is that is the right choice. I didn’t really care for that change. The Hollandase is very lemony. Maybe a tad too much lemon, it’s thin but creamy. The poached eggs are small. Seems like some of the whites were missing. Like they are cut off because the egg is a perfect round. The lemon dressed greens that accompany the dish is very nice. The buttered grits were so delightful. Buttery, creamy and delicious. The fruit bowl was nothing special, your average fruit. Grapes, pineapple, honeydew and strawberries. The Million Dollar Bloody Mary is any but……. The pepper completely over powers the drink. Comes was a slice of bacon that is very tasty. The pepper taste was so strong I ended up giving it to my husband. I was choking on the all of the pepper. I then chose the Sangria which was nothing special. The atmosphere is very loud. In fact the noise level is too loud. The ceilings are very high with that industrial look. I think that is why is was so loud. I will give another location a try next time. There were a few more items on the menu I’d like to try. I think they need to step up their alcoholic drinks though. Brunch equals drinks and their menu is completely lacking in...
