The worst hotel stay of my life! Spider infested rooms, and your room might just be over the bar which blasts music until ungodly hours of the night, so if you were planning on sleeping I would take your business elsewhere. There is also no staff on duty that will assist you or help you with any issue because they are all new as they have a high turnover rate. During our stay, on the weekend mind you, the manager was never there to assist us with our problems. We called to let them know there was an issue with sound, we were told there was nothing they could do. We called at 10 pm to let them know, so apparently we should have called more than once to let them know because the one time was not enough. Switching our room for one further away from the bar was never an option. Furthermore because of the bar, there were several drunk people running around screaming profanity. Falsely portrayed bathrooms you will not get a bath tub but rather a walk in shower. The lobby smells atrocious as soon as you walk in. Their website needs to be updated as there is no longer a upscale restaurant, but rather a sports bar. The hotel staff claim it's still a fine dining restaurant, but what fine dining restaurant blasts music until midnight? This is also in fact a motel as the front desk attendant told us, and not a hotel contrary to the website. The pictures portrayed on the site make your room seem much bigger than what it actually is. For the room we received along with the service, this was way over-priced. We didn't even stay for breakfast because we were so disappointed with our stay.

Stayed a night at the hotel in April- May 2025, while waiting for our boat to arrive from FL, to our new marina at the lake. I chose a corner room with a great view toward the river in Port Clinton. The room was large and clean. The bathroom was also clean. We chose this property for its proximity and walking distance to restaurants, bars, coffee shops as we had almost a day of downtime while awaiting our boat delivery. The property, I believe, is actually one of 3 properties owned (?) managed (?) by Our Guests hotel a bit more east on the main road- that is also where you check in / receive / return your keys + parking pass. You will receive via email a very detailed description of the check in process, which went smoothly for us. It definitely would’ve been a nightmare checking in as the hotel is not regularly staffed and the main doors aren’t unlocked.

COVID-19 review: Reception: all staff were wearing masks, though I spotted the clerk once to have a mask on but not covering his mouth. Room cleanliness: the room was cleaned overall but very dusty in the harder-to-get spots, i.e. bed head, chairs, tables. I had to wipe and dust everything to be sure it’s properly disinfected. The room could loose a lot of unessential furniture I make it easier to deal with during the pandemic. Extra bed linen: they brought fresh sets on request, without delay. What I liked: the corner room 2215 was quiet large and quiet. The lobby is stylish with the old charm, Marilyn Monroe and quite a few other celebrities have stayed here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. What could be improved: The bathroom is a bit small and could benefit from more surfaces.

We stayed at the The Island House for a group event. Knew there might be problems when the check in clerk explained how it might take 15-20 minutes for the hot water to make it to our room once it was turned on in the morning. Should have known that was a sign of bad things to come. Started when we went to bed......every time the Air Conditioner kicked on there was a horrible loud clicking noise. My wife, who NEVER wakes up in the middle of the night for any reason, woke up every time the AC came on. So no rest in that room. Then the next morning, I turned on the shower to the hottest setting and let it run......10 min, 15 min, 20 min, 25 min, 30 min.......still cold. Played with the control and finally got to cool instead of cold........so we took very cool showers. I stopped at the front desk and the clerk said "Oh yes, we have had hot water problems in that room before, and I think there is a certain spot on the dial that you need to put it on to get warm water." Might that have been a good thing to let me know when I checked in? So, the maid marked on the dial with a permanent marker where to put the dial......unbelievablly it was in the middle, between cold and hot, and not even close to the hot setting. So, day 2 we had a warm (not hot) shower.......I'd say it was the minimum temp you could call a warm shower. As for the AC, the clerk said the maid checked and didn't hear anything, so they basically were saying "you are crazy"! It only makes the sound when the compressor comes on, so no sound for 15 min, and the horrible sound for 15 min........easy to see that she didn't hear anything if she stopped by when the compressor wasn't on. ai asked if someone could come up and check it and she said nobody was available. So, night two and no sleep again. I asked if they could give me a credit for all th issues, and they gave me $20/night.......on a $150/night room!!! Come on. I called the GM after returning home and asked about getting a bigger credit. She said she would check with her manager and get back to me. Well, 8 days passed and I called her back......she said he manager had said the $20 was the best she could do. What a horrible experience. Net is I will never stay there again, and will tell everyone I know to avoid this place...

Although this hotel is prime location for using the Jet Express after a long day at the Bay, that is probably the best review I can give, unfortunately. The front desk staff is extremely rude and not courteous, during all shifts. I got there before check in and while I understand the inability to check me in before other patrons have checked out, my name wasn't taken down and no instructions were given on how to go about that. It stated clearly on the website that without checking in before 9pm, the reservation may be cancelled. We were never told that breakfast was no longer included due to covid, and in fact, I had to call the front desk to ask this information. The rooms were ok. The pillows were hard and lumpy. There were only a few thin sheets on the bed to cover up with. The coffee was inedible. The water was EXTREMELY hot during a shower and left my friends very red, even with the cold water cranked. There were no washcloths in our stack of linens, and we were afraid to ask due to our already bad experience with the unfriendliness. We stayed in good spirits and even after having a bad experience with staff the day before, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. We were met with cold stares and even colder personality. We were not told "thank you" or "have a nice day", despite being extremely respectful to the lackluster staff. This hotel has so much potential to be great and it is a beautiful historic hotel, but until there is a revamping of staff etiquette, I will not return and will not recommend this hotel to anyone. A friendly smile and warm personality goes a long way with many people and perhaps my review would have been less harsh if the staff were friendly and...
