Royal Inn (Port Lavaca) — Hotel in Port Lavaca

Guests beware! The rooms have bed bugs! I rented a room for a week and after the first night I noticed a couple of red spots on my arms but thought they were mosquito bites. A couple of days later I had spots all over my body. I inspected the bed and found several BED BUGS! I brought this to management's attention and got no consideration, no apology, no discount, no refund. The manager even told me I probably brought the bugs from work. Really! When I told them the least they could do was switch me to another room they tried to charge me for it even though I still had a day left on my weekly rental. They said they had to charge me because it was another room. At the end they did switch me without charging me because they had to remove the infected bed from the room. The new room was not clean. There were food crumbs on the floor. The towels were dingy and stained The rooms are expensive for the quality. The manager changed the rate from 320 to 350 a week out of the blue just because she felt like it. I hated my stay there but was able to find a really nice room share for 125 a week in town that is a thousand...

The room's cleanliness and comfort are notable, and the housekeeping team provides excellent service. However, the Wi-Fi is not operational, and the in-room phones are also non-functional. Additionally, the office phone is consistently unanswered. I experienced a double charge due to a technical glitch in their card reader system. Following the provision of bank documentation, including a printed statement and contact information for the bank employee, I received a refund after an extended delay. Unfortunately, the office staff, including the manager, exhibited a negative attitude towards me, and I was subsequently blacklisted for requesting a refund for their error. Fortunately, I maintained a personal record of time-stamped dates and times on my phone. Although the room is satisfactory, the management's behavior is subpar, and it is clear that the housekeeping staff is the primary reason this establishment remains...

Don't let the room rates fool you. The Royal Inn Port Lavaca is a pretty nice place. Our room was clean and appeared to be fairly recently updated. The air conditioner works very well (it has been hot out since we arrived), and the beds are comfortable. They even have smoking rooms!

Check in was quick and easy, and the front desk clerk was friendly. Snack foods, coffee, and homemade soups are available in the office all day at no charge.

Housekeeping cleans the rooms daily, and they do a good and thorough job. The only "con" is that the toilet doesn't flush everything in one flush. There may be plans to update the toilets, but if there aren't, there should be.

Overall, I recommend Royal Inn Port Lavaca, especially if you're on a budget. We'll definitely stay here again the next time...
