It is a nice hotel, but our room wasn't nearly as clean as it has been in the past. We have stayed at this same hotel for 6 out of the last 8 years during the Thanksgiving holiday. This year we checked in on Sunday and out on Friday. Every morning except for Friday, my husband would good down for breakfast and was lucky to get a few slices of bacon...at 8a.m. Their breakfast hours are 6-9 a.m. We never really had what I would call "hot" water and it was set up backwards on the faucet. We knew that they allowed pets and were 100% ok with it, until Thurs night. Every night we were there there were while families that had dogs and we never heard them at all. The last night they put a couple weeks the dog that barked all night right next to us. Mind you.....the hotel may have been maybe 1/2 full. That combined with someone directly above us stomping and what sounded like kids playing until after 2:40 in the morning resulted in basically a couple of hours of sleep. I don't expect total silence when I stay in a hotel, but I do expect some common decency....especially when I had to report it to the front desk. For a motel that had plenty of available rooms, they should have spread the guests out some. The front desk clerk that worked from Sun thru Tues was excellent at her job. CYNTHIA was very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and overall a joy to deal with. In the evenings after we had been out exploring or visiting family, my teenage daughter would go to the lobby and visit website her. On Tuesday, Cynthiana was reprimanded for fratinizing with the guests.....SERIOUSLY? ????? SERIOUSLY???
I have family that live in Port Lavaca and lots of family that visits....up until this year I would have recommended this hotel and stayed there anytime I visit. Not now...
Read moreWe love staying here for multiple reasons. #1- The King Suite is very spacious with 600 square feet majority hotels do not have that size rooms. The bedroom is separate from the living room and kitchenette area. The large bathroom opens to the entry hallway of the living room area and then it has a second door that opens to the bedroom. The bedroom has a king size bed and a large dresser and 2 night stands on each side of the bed with a 65 inch TV mounted to the wall above the dresser. The closet is a decent size in the bedroom. The living room has a queen sleeper L- Sectional with a chaise chair and 2 end tables and a large work desk in the corner. A 65 inch TV mounted on the wall and an oak wood cabinet with drawers. The room also has a TV tray table and coffee table. The kitchenette has a sink and microwave refrigerator and a bar with a cabinet for storage on top and under sink. The shared kitchenette and living room also have a closet for storage or clothes. The room is always clean and stocked with essentials if not all you have to do is let the front desk know and they will make sure that you get everything you need asap. Staff is always nice and helpful and welcoming. The breakfast buffet is fabulous and the staff is always friendly and always asking if anyone wants anything else before they shut down. The maid service is great too and super nice. This hotel is pet friendly and it is very clean even with pets allowed!!! The price is great and you won’t regret...
Read moreNice and clean rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and lobby. The main lady serving breakfast was super sweet and offered extra breakfast items to everyone in the eating area before just tossing them out. The kids could have fresh fruit from the basket at any time. Upon check-in (9:45ish pm), they offered to make a fresh batch of coffee if we wanted any. My daughter happened to have a surprise visit from "Aunt Flo" right after check-in and the sweet (mid-teen/young adult) girl at the counter DISCREETLY gave her enough supplies to make it well into the following evening (which was appreciated since the lobby was quite full). The only things that sucked horribly were the feather pillows, the elevator was soooooo slow, and the hallways were freezing. They didn't have anything but feather pillows and no extra ones. You get 3 pillows on each queen bed, and that's that. The housekeeping crew were also all super friendly and helpful and gave us plenty of towels and trash bags upon request. The location was very convenient; Walmart, Heb, Walgreens, Gas Stations, Liqour stores, Sonic, McDonald's, and a couple of other fast food restaurants were within a 2 mile radius. A local also let us know to avoid fishing that area because the factory across the big bridge dumps chemicals into the bay. The entire staff was super friendly and helpful at all times. Would definitely stay again, but I would definitely take my own pillows and maybe an...
