I will tell you the entire story of our terrible stay at your hotel in Portland, Tx starting on July 25. After a great stay in College Station, Tx the week before WE WERE SO LOOKING FORWARD TO A GREAT WEEKEND! Checking in was easy Thursday around 8 pm & upon looking around our room the floors were disgusting with popcorn kernels against 2 walls, an empty water bottle behind the dresser cob webs on a/c unit area - so I went downstairs & told the young man at the desk; he apologized asked me to email the photos I took to the hotel and he changed our room… ONLY TO GO FIND A PLASTERED HOLE IN THE WALL WITH MILDEW & bugs crawling out of it ( I have a video) & again popcorn kernels found on dirty floor, dusty floors & trash under the bed. I CALLED TO ASK AARP TO HELP ME FIND ANOTHER HOTEL! The lady was sooo nice and got Michael at front desk to change our room for the 3rd time. Mind you it’s 10:45 & my granddaughter had softball games the next morning! AARP ADVISED IF I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH 3rd room to use my insurance I purchased and ask your hotel for complete refund. Michael could only apologize so many times & I am sure he deals with that all the time. I could not find another reasonable priced hotel on a Friday to Sunday and we managed. Checking out we finally ran into a family with a young child in a diaper cleaning rooms & NO VACUUM! What a shame we have to report our terrible experience after a great one the week before. Since we travel across the country with my granddaughter softball I’m going to tell you this was the 1st complaint I have had to write about! I am sure your hotel has the photos I emailed that night. I took some in the room we landed up staying in of ridiculous items left on the floor and under bed. Your company can refund my money if you truly want to keep me as a customer for this...

Stains on sheets that were told would be replaced on Tuesday but never where when service was allowed (it’s going into Friday and they had two chances). They forgot to refill toilet paper one day and that is something that I shouldn’t have to call for on my cell. Because the room phone didn’t work. Also, the room’s door needed replacing. The handle was ingraining into the wood door, lock mechanism was missing its plate (at least it locked). Door wouldn’t consistently open based on door handle problems. One afternoon, I lacked any hot water in my room. Just for the afternoon. Didn’t have change for quarters. Not even for $2.00. Thankfully no bug issues, which can be a problem at any South Texas hotel at his time of year.
I don’t usually write reviews as most chain hotels are pretty standard. But this one was a pretty underwhelming and unsatisfying experience considering my weekly nationwide work travels. I wouldn’t stay here again despite my corporate rate that was negotiated. I would go to the other hotels on this stretch of highway. New Hampton. New Home2. A Holiday Inn Express. New Towne Place Suites.
The only saving graces were that (some) of the front desk employees were nice and accommodating. Was granted a late check-out. Also were very helpful, but sometimes in the back room. I shouldn’t have to ring a desk bell a majority of the times I step up to the desk. Also, the AC worked like a charm. A huge need when heat gets to you and you are in South...
Read moreUpon entering the young lady at the reception desk was using her cell phone along with her earbuds. While wearing her GAP (?) hoodie she only pulled one earbud out while I was talking and left the video or conversation she was having to continue. Please feel free to check your video to verify my statement. The rooms on the second floor are out of date and definitely not cleaned. Please have someone remove the mold in the shower caulking, it is not appealing. The elevator button to go down from the second floor doesn't work nor does the ice machine. I did have a bowl of Raisin Bran one morning and it was so old there was no flavor to it. On the morning (0430) of my checkout, the lady couldn't give me a receipt, but she did call someone to assist her, twice. When she printed my receipt, it said my balance owed was "0" and she handed it to me. I asked for a receipt for work purposes, not how much I owed for my stay. Needless to say, I walked away without a receipt. I did appreciate the bookstore at the hotel, as I did find a Louis L'Amour book and will return it to a different location when I am done with it. In summary, I would never stay at that hotel again, and I do mean never. Someone in the management division or corporate office can call me concerning my stay at your hotel. You should have my contact information, but i will give you my phone number of...
