I booked and called through their reservation line and it took a 30 minute phone call but I was told I would have premium king room with a jacuzzi tub and courtyard view and that there was no security deposit I had asked why and they let me know that this hotel did not require a incidental fee. and that they would put in a note for early check in + preferred tub.
When I arrived it was around 12-1pm. I was greeted by the front desk admins. I told them I was arriving early and they asked me if I had any room preferences I said just one with a tub. They were super quick sweet and helpful but as I got into my room I saw that it was a two queen and not the type of room I wanted I immediately ran back and asked let them know I had requested a premium king with a tub in it. The front desk admin Singh asked me to show her what I was told I booked and she was very confused as that tub only came with suites however she asked me to wait 10 minutes and resolved the problem. She was so helpful to give me a free upgrade and said she just wanted her guests to be happy and enjoy their stay, she was an angel!
I truly enjoyed my stay here it was quiet and had great views however I can’t give it 5 stars because of some cons not many but a few
1: the confusion with the original booking, while I’m so happy it got resolved I hate that I had to bother anyone with that
2: this is the only holiday in Ive ever been to that doesn’t have complimentary breakfast, they have a restaurant and you can pay a small fee to have it included however I book with holiday inn because of the breakfast, that was a bit disappointing
3: the restaurant staff was very rude, there was not much vegetarian options for breakfast either.
4: I brought my clothes up for laundry service, and they have a ticket where you write what you have and if you want laundry or dry cleaning, first of all those prices are insane second they overcharged me. I selected laundry and they dry cleaned my stuff ??? and it cost the entire $50 deposit for a swim suit, (1) pants (1) shirt and (1) head wrap . $50 ?? and they did not even bring it into my room.
5: and this isn’t really a con depending on who you are but this hotel is not in as convenient location not close to the train or often running buses and it takes a while to get into downtown Portland by car.
All and all though this hotel has my heart, this was a very last minute trip and it did exactly what it needed to do. Singh, Eli and LisaMay I appreciate all of your guys...
Read moreThe hotel was not what I'd expect for Holiday Inn. We travel with 2 kids so Holiday Inn has been our hotel chain of choice & this just seemed like a step down. The hotel feels dated & in need of a renovation. The room & bathroom were spacious & clean, though during booking we had to pay extra to secure a river view. The view off balcony was beautiful & we did spend much time out there reading & watching. AC was disturbingly loud & the toilet had a hard time flushing. TV had 2 noticeable scratches on the screen. The pool area is spacious with lots of towels but no bathroom nearby. Instead you have to walk a ways back inside past the lobby to the grand ballroom for a bathroom break. The fitness center was satisactory & helped me burn off some of the calories I was planning on eating later in the day! This is one of the few hotels I've seen that actually had self-service laundry available for a fee that I assume is less than using the full-on laundry service. The restaurant food was tasty but only honors the Kids Eat Free promo if you ask for it. The website also said they have complimentary coffee in the lobby but when I inquired they told me I had to order it in the restaurant. The staff were a mixed bag. The hotel campus is large so a small map upon check-in would have been helpful. Instead we wandered around & found where things were ourselves. It wasn't until I returned to the front desk later for some bandaids that I saw someone else checking in was provided a map. I will say the gentleman who provided me some bandaids was also considerate enough to give me some antiseptic wipes as well (thank you!). It rained the first night & by morning we noticed rusty water leaking from the ceiling AC unit which we hadn't used since we checked-in. I called the front desk & they said they'd have their engineer check it while we were out exploring. We returned early afternoon with no note or notice of them coming by, other than the water having been cleaned up. Our breakfast waitress Wanda was fantastic though. If they hired 10 more Wandas I'd be more inclined...
Read moreLocated on Hayden Island right across from the Washington-Oregon bridge in Oregon, this property is located on the Columbia River and is great value property. It’s probably the largest Holiday Inn I’ve stayed at complete with large ballrooms perfect graduation ceremonies and large wedding receptions. ||Plenty of free parking is available within the property gates, and when you enter, there is a large lobby inside beside a large open restaurant and bar. The front desk is friendly and professional while they helped with our 4pm check-in.||We stayed in a room that had an outdoor pool, river and bridge view. The room was large and consisted of 2 Queen beds, microwave, fridge, HDTV (w. HBO), coffee maker, and an extra sink. The bathroom was also large and had a single sink, and bathtub/shower combo. The beds were comfortable and the pillows fluffy. We also noted that the property was ‘pet friendly’, which would be good for those traveling with pets.||The property is located near several stores like Target, Ulta, Best Buy, Home Depot, Duluth Trading as well as Burger King, Taco Bell, Jersey Mike’s and Starbucks (10 min walk). Tip: Lattes at the hotel lounge were good. We didn’t try the hotel restaurant, but you can order room service pizza from there. We ended up eating in Vancouver, WA where there were a large selection of good restaurants near the waterfront.||There is a paved river walk heading East of the property where you can walk for 20 mins past condos built right on the river. It’s a great walk in the early evenings so don’t miss it. The walk ends at a neighborhood gate with Private Property signs where you need to turn around a go back.||There were outdoor tennis courts but we didn’t anyone playing at the time. We also were not able to see if there was a gym in the property.||The only issue about this property was the freeway noise since it was very close to the I5 freeway. Other than that, it’s a good value hotel literally right across the border from Washington State if you wanted convenient ‘no sales...
