It's always tricky going over the bridge. This is NOT a place to visit. It is traffic only. Walk or ride a bicycle on the pedestrian part of the bridge. More than 100 years old, this bridge is antiquated and will lift for tall ships/ boats without much notice. Red flashing lights warn you in time to stop. But traffic is snarled going over several times per day, locals avoid it at the peak hours of any city.

If you want to go from Portland to Vancouver there's only two choices. On TV news one is called the Interstate, and the other they call it the Glenn Jackson Bridge. Together the spans handle hundreds of thousands of vehicles daily, and are frequently blamed for road vehicle and river traffic congestion. Despite its practical shortcomings, the bridge is still an aging marvel and a sight to behold. A walking trail parallels the river on either side of the bridge and travels underneath the massive roadway, affording some truly...

It's only two lanes, which sometimes curtails my ability to reach my destination promptly. However, when I need to get to the state of Washington from the state of Oregon, this bridge does the trick! There have also been occasions when I've had to go from Washington to Oregon, and this bridge is able to help me accomplish that task as well. It also seems a good, sturdy bridge that will remain standing for future generations to drive their cars, motorcycles, vans and other vehicles on. Yes sir — nothing like a good, hearty bridge after a long, hard day...
