I'm not sure if it was just my personal experience or if this place has changed a lot recently, but we has a horrible stay for so many reasons.
When we checked in, we were told the pet "deposit" we had called and gotten confirmation about was actually a fee we would not get back. I was unhappy but still checked in without being too upset about it. We also found out that their "available" parking was actually 49+ dollar a day valet or street parking we had to move every 3 hours until 7pm. How disappointing that their parking costs 50% of the cost of their rooms per day. Regardless of all this, I was still super friendly to the staff because it was not their fault things were as bad as they were....but they hadn't showed their true colors yet.
When we got to the room, it was a much lower quality and quite a lot smaller one than we had originally booked. And it stunk! The full size fridge and kitchen area was actually a mini fridge and half stove top. Inside the mini fridge, we found the reason for the stink. Rotten food and dirty dishes in the fridge. We looked around, it appeared housekeeping had only made the bed.
We found the following within 5 min of getting to our room: A poop in the toilet Dog urine up the walls in the living room area Rotten food and dirty dishes Toilet paper and short curly hairs all over the bathroom floor and counter Toothpaste spit in the sink Some disgusting white smears all over the couch and ottomans The stove top didn't work When we tried to call and ask about if our room , we found out the phone didn't work.
I went downstairs and the girl working said she had to text her manager about it because he was not onsight. Normally, she said they would move me to another room, but they were booked full.
I waited for 20 min in the lobby to be told there was nothing they could do. Another of the staff came out from the back room and said they would normally offer a partial refund but that it was done through expedia and so they could not. They recommended I reach out to expedia, and in then they offered to at least refund my pet fee and I said I felt that was fair to refund since I thought it was a deposit anyway.
As instructed, I reached out to expedia as soon as I got back to my room. They called to hotel to confirm, and expedia was told they were talking to the property manager, "Angelo". Expedia said this hotel manager refused a refund because we had already checked in and settled. This caused the staff to treat us like garbage for the rest of the time we were there. We couldnt get extra towels, they held our delivery food at the front desk without notifying us and they gave us crappy looks the whole time we were there.
My husband even lost his temper with "Angelo" and called him a name after being pushed to the last degree with his passive aggressive attitude and literal mocking. Know it takes repetitive, horrid behavior for my husband to even get upset, let alone lose his temper. He was sick of seeing and hearing me be nice to someone who continually treated me horribly.
Thank god Expedia's customer service support team got me my money back and will be reviewing their own posting for this hotel for inaccuracies.
This is the first time we have used hotels since the pandemic and even though I hate what Air B&Bs are doing to the housing market, Ill be going back to using them again. The 4.4 Google rating is not to be trusted here. This whole place is out of repair, dirty and full of hidden charges and...

This is a fantastic hotel. The staff was warm and friendly at check-in. The room was very nice, and to top it off we had a kitchenette overlooking the water. The kitchenette offers a microwave, fridge, dishwasher, sink, range, cups and other items you’ll need to prepare and enjoy a meal. There is also a kitchen table with chairs. Although we didn’t use the kitchen on this stay, it would’ve been nice to have if we had a longer stay. The room was clean; however, the toilet seat was clearly not cleaned. Luckily, I had some disinfectant wipes in my suitcase to wipe it down. The hotel is very quiet which was just what I needed on this trip. There are signs when you get off of the elevator on your floor reminding guests to keep the noise to a minimum beginning at 10am. This was great because we literally could not hear any noise in our room.
The hotel does not offer onsite self-parking, your only option is to pay for daily valet service, which I found to be a little expensive. On my stay, valet service was $45 daily, and it did allow in/out privileges. My trip was only for one night and we were departing at 8am, so we opted to park on the street around the corner. You are able to park on street parking for Free between 7pm-8am and on all major holiday’s, otherwise, there is a 3-hour parking time limit ($9).
After hours, the front door to the hotel is locked and you need your room key to get in. You also need your room key to activate the elevator in order to get to your room. I felt this was very nice and gave me some security as I knew only guests would be able to have access to the floors with the rooms.
I shared the King bed with my 9yo son, and my daughter slept on the sleeper sofa. The king bed was very comfortable with plush pillows. I slept like a baby.
At 7am we went down to the breakfast area to grab a quick bite. It was clean and smelled good, they had lots of cute Halloween decorations around, skeletons sitting in chairs and such, it was very cute. The woman at the breakfast window said good morning to us, she smiled and asked what we wanted, then she came back with our meals in to-go boxes. They offered, French toast, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt, apple juice, orange juice, and coffee. The French toast was hot and tasty. My son said his eggs were very good, and my daughter said the bacon was crispy and perfectly cooked.
After eating, we went to check out, the desk clerk was friendly and asked about our stay. He gave me my bill and thanked me for staying. This was a nice way to close out a great visit. If you every find yourself in downtown Portland, I highly recommend this Hyatt House. It’s a little more expensive than the other Hyatt’s in the area, but it’s well worth it for the great service, and...
Read moreNot worth the money. The staff were unprofessional, slow, and provided very mediocre customer service. Here are the highlights: While I was checking in to the hotel, a guest called the front desk phone to ask if they could send someone to show him how to use the exercise machines. The girl checking me in laughed and made fun of the guy and said no one was available to help him. There is no street parking available nearby and no hotel garage. The only option if you have a car is to use valet, which I found to be incredibly inefficient and expensive. There seemed to be only one valet working at all times, so when the valet was grabbing a car even if your car was ready you had to wait for him to come back to get your keys. It took at least 10-15 minutes to get my car back every time. My second night at the hotel, THE POWER WENT OUT. The backup generator left some of the entryway lights on and a few lamps in my room on, but the bathroom and kitchen lights didn't turn on and I could not use the TV or microwave. By the end of the night all of the lights had shut off throughout the hotel, the elevators were broken, and everyone had to take the stairs. None of the hotel employees were apologetic and they did the bare minimum to make people comfortable (ie someone showed us where the stairs were). The bathroom and kitchen lights never came back on, not even by the time I checked out the next morning. I ate dinner at the hotel on the night the power went out. My group was the only one seated but it still took over 45 minutes to get our food. I got a burger which was incredibly dry. I asked for ketchup and the waitress never brought it. Then we spent the last 10 minutes of our meal in the complete darkness after the generator went out. We still paid full price for our meal. When I asked the front desk woman the next morning while checking out if they were providing any discounts for all the issues people went through, she replied that the power going out wasn't their fault and that they did everything in their power to get it back on. Just to note, the Marriott across the street had all their power and I saw no other businesses with issues with their power. Lastly, I slept on the pull-out couch where the only pillows I could find to sleep on were the couch pillows. I woke up the next morning with a rash on my neck.
So I spent over $400 on the overpriced hotel, dinner, and valet. I felt like I was camping in my hotel room because I had to bring a flashlight into the bathroom. And I felt like I was brushed to the side for being frustrated because it "wasn't their fault" that the...
