I'm leaving this review as someone who did not actually get to go on one of the boats, so be advised. I never do anything for my birthday but this past year I was trying to be proactive and plan something ahead of time to make sure my friends would be available. Everyone was so excited, my birthday is in the winter so a hot tub boat on the river on the night of my birthday sounded like an absolute blast. The day before my birthday, the company emailed me and said that the current was moving too fast and offered me a dock party for 20% off. Essentially a dock party is sitting in a stationary hot tub with a nice view. For $320. My thoughts were that if a boat cannot function as a boat, then it should be considered just a hot tub. They wouldn't be paying for fuel for 2 hours so I'm not sure if the $320 would really be less than their profit after fuel anyway. I would think that a last minute switch to a dock party would be more like maybe $250 at most. I would have paid that just to have something to do since it was last minute in the middle of winter with no other options for activities to do. I explained this to them but the next morning (day of my bday), they then said that they have decided that the current was moving too fast to even do a dock party. It wasn't hardly even raining, wasn't icy or anything but I know nothing about river flow/speed. Anyway, my whole birthday was ruined, my friends who took work off and paid babysitters, it was a waste unfortunately. I spent about 6 hours of my birthday looking online for any other cool activity that we could all do and I couldn't find anything available, short of just going to a bar. So I told everyone I was sorry and did nothing the rest of the night. I found from reading other reviews that this is a common problem with this business model, that it relies so heavily on the weather obviously. I think that in situations like this, they should offer a heavy discount to reschedule. They did not offer me any discount to reschedule so I didn't. If you are booking this yacht tub for just a fun night out with your family or friends and wouldn't care that much if it got canceled due to weather, then I say it looks like a fun and interesting activity to do in Portland. But if you are thinking about booking for a birthday or bachelor/Bachelorette party, anything important, then be very aware of the risk of cancelation on the...
Read moreMy husband, friend, teenage son, and I booked a Yacht Tub on the last night of our 2 week Oregon vacation and the experience was a clear highlight of the vacation! Our booking was for 6-8pm on a Wednesday night in August. We arrived about 20mins early, as requested. There was ample parking nearby, reasonably priced. The Yacht Tub Club was easy to find - it was clean, well-equipped, and comfy. Allie greeted us and gave us a run-down of what to expect, and then gave us time to change and lock up our belongings. We brought a small cooler of drinks and a paper bag full of snacks - Allie gave us a soft cooler for the snacks since the paper bags tend to get wet and break (yep - we weren't thinking!). At the dock, Sean greeted us, helped us onto the boat, helped us connect our phone to the Bluetooth speaker, and gave my husband clear and easy instructions on how to control the boat. Allie and Sean gathered our coverups in an IKEA bag and our shoes in a bucket and loaded them into the dry storage area of the boat, along with our beverages and snacks. There was also a small dry box on the boat for phone storage with easy access (for taking photos and changing the music). Then we were off! We cruised down to Broadway Bridge, enjoying the unique view of Portland. Unfortunately, the steering went out when we got to Broadway Bridge and we were unable to navigate back. We called Allie at the number that was clearly provided on a laminated piece of paper. The first thing Allie asked was "Do we feel safe/are we in a safe location?" She shared that Sean would be down to help us ASAP and tow us if needed. Sean arrived and towed us back to the dock area - he was very professional and friendly, we enjoyed talking with him. When we arrived to the dock area, he gave us the option to drop anchor or tie to the dock to enjoy the rest of our 2hr time. Despite the minor hiccup, we still enjoyed our full 2hrs thanks to Allie and Sean being extremely professional, accommodating, and friendly. We highly recommend this experience and hope to do it again the next time we are...
Read moreTake my review with a grain of salt. My experience hasn’t been good but I also haven’t made it onto a boat. I’ve scheduled twice and both times the company canceled. The first time is was because of the surprise storm, that I do understand. I was disappointed but I can understand that. So I scheduled for the following week. Today is the day we were scheduled to go. My husbands second day he’s taken off of work for our reservations, the second time I got a babysitter for my children, the second time I’ve scheduled dinner reservations for a restaurant right by yacht tubs. I get a call this morning saying that they need to cancel my reservations because the storm we had last week brought too much debris into the river… I understand that too but it’s still inconvenient and the part that throws me off is that I have a friend that went on her reservation two days ago. So I’m confused about the situation with the river and why it’s canceled again. I’m not going to schedule a third time and make all of my date night reservations around it. So I won’t be experiencing this. They did say if I wanted we could do a “dock party for 20% off” so still over $300. I don’t want half the experience at 80% cost. I just feel that the whole situation of canceling my reservations twice and all the inconvenience that comes a long with that as far as taking work off and getting a sitter.. all of it. Very...
