I walked in and immediately felt unwelcome. My partner, who I surprised on her lunch break with one of her favorite meals from another restaurant, sat down in the outside seating while I went in looking for a menu. Who I believe was the owner came over and asked if we were sitting outside, staring at my partner the whole time, didn't look me in the eye or welcome me in the slightest. When I said yes, he handed me the menu and I went outside to where my girl was seated. I was looking over the menu trying to decide what I was getting and the previously mentioned worker came over and straight lied to our faces. He said that we can't be eating another person's food on his tables because it is against health code. The way he said it as well was incredibly rude; like we were attacking his business by being there. We were outside where these tables are exposed to the elements 24/7. Rats and squirrels can run all over it, but my girls egg and cheese sandwich was absolutely not allowed. I was abhorred by the treatment we were getting. You could've treated us with human decency and let us know that it's just against your restaurant's policy, but instead you chose to lie. I hate liars and will not support a business run by one. I gave him back his menu's and said that we were good then and we left. I read some other reviews as well and it looks like this treatment we were subjected to was not a stand alone event either. My partner who works at a busy hotel nearby will make sure that no employees there will ever recommend this place to anyone visiting. She won't speak poorly of it, but she'll suggest a different spot; she carries herself with more professionalism than what we saw here today.
Reply: Nobody is trying to "cancel" you or your business. Leaving a bad review and suggesting different places to eat is not "canceling." Get ahold of yourself. People like you love playing the victim card instead of reflecting on your service and being better. Jon did offer us an option for to-go but like mentioned previously I will not support liars. Also your definition of polite must be very different than the vast majority, because the two interactions I had with him were rude. Also Multnomah county has nothing that outside food on outdoor seating is potentially hazardous. Indoor, yes and I completely understand and agree wholeheartedly with, but like I said we were outside. I understand the worry of liability if one of us got sick, so you could have communicated that in an actual polite manner. I respect rules of private establishments and that is not the issue here. The way we were...
Read moreCame here for the first time on Thursday 2021-12-16 on a first date. It was 3:30pm in the afternoon, so there were only a few patrons at the time taking advantage of Happy Hour. Parking also was relatively easy to find at this time.
My first impression was that this was a typical pub/bar with nothing special to look at as far as ambience. It is relatively small, and it felt a little cramped. I even had to move a stack of high-chairs a little bit just to increase space around my table.
Customer service was great, as the servers checked on me/us frequently.
What impressed me the most was the food. Initially, I just had the Baja Fish Tacos, and my date had the Guac and Chips. The fish tacos were average and a little skimpy on the fish. The guacamole in the Guac and Chips was delicious. Once my date left, I ordered the Buffalo Wings as well as the Asiago Cheese Garlic Fries. Both of these were fantastic! I did not even dip the wings once in the provided sauce.
There was a beer selection of about 3, along with 2 rotating taps. Fortunately, I enjoyed one of the rotating taps. My date had ordered a cocktail, and it was delicious.
There is a single bathroom, and it was clean and well stocked of supplies.
The only reason that I did not give 5 stars is because of the view, or lack of it. The pub is situated with a potentially nice view of the Willamette. But, the windows are blocked by shelves full of ingredients and other restaurant supplies. In between jars I can see boats passing by, which would have been nicer to look at than the jars. I can almost hear Robert Irvine screaming about this!
Fortunately, my date went well, and we likely will come back to this same place some...
Read moreParty of 3 we went a couple weekends ago. Waited to be sat about 25 minutes, because they had open tables but no chairs. But there were empty chairs they could have pulled from other tables that clearly weren’t being occupied. Random single people were being sat in tables that only had one chair ahead of us, even though they had not waited. And then a party that came after us, we saw the waiters make accommodations and pull empty chairs to sit that party. I believed the server and the party could have been friends. The servers here are completely clueless, our server didn’t write down our order so she came 3 times to clarify what we had ordered. I also saw this other waiter going back to other tables stating they had forgotten their order. The food is okay, but the service is horrible.
*After seeing the owners response I’d like to add. The chairs were not reserved because had you thoroughly read my review they were then given to a new group that had no reservation but were friends with the waiter. Their words not mine. Secondly, the reason why you’re busy isn’t because of the quality of your food or service. It is because of your location and semi cheap menu. The only other options by the water are much more expensive so of course people go to your restaurant for the...
