Marc Johnston of the Johnston Law Firm has been an asset to my business, my family and myself. I first contacted Marc in 2011 because my health insurance company was refusing to pay thousands of dollars in medical bills I had incurred. At the end of hope and looking at having a debt that would cause incredible strain on my finical situation, I desperately searched for an attorney that I could trust and that would fight for me. Marc worked with me, fought hard, and within two months my insurance company paid my medical bills in full.
Two years later my company was having an issue with an insurance company regarding some of our equipment. I contacted Marc Johnston again just to ask if I had any recourse. Within a month the insurance company paid and saved my business over 20k in equipment repair cost, another win for the Johnston Law Firm.
While attending college at U of O my daughter was in a major accident when she was rear-ended by another car and was pushed into other vehicles. Before my daughter could even see a Dr. the auto insurance company started calling her trying to get her to say she wasn’t injured and was fine. Her car was totaled from both the front, back, and side to side, she was not fine. I called Marc and asked for his guidance once again. Although his office is based out of Portland, he instantly took control of the situation, stopped the harassing calls to my daughter Maggie and worked with her for a year though her physical recovery; Marc made sure Maggie received full compensation. This was an indescribable relief for a Father that lives thousands of miles away in Alaska.
In 2015 my company was having issues with a new piece of equipment we had purchased for over $150k and the manufacture was ignoring the severity of the situation. After months of trying to work with said manufacturer, I once again called the Johnston Law Firm and asked Marc what I should do. This situation was beyond difficult, but Marc never gave up, in fact, he never even suggested I give up. After a year Marc was able to get the manufacture to take the equipment back and return our company’s payment. This was no simple case, and I had been told by many that there was no way we could come out on top. However, Marc doesn’t give up, he pushes and pushes until his clients receive exactly what they are owed.
I have been an entrepreneur since I was 19, and I have had my share of obstacles, and the ones mentioned above were big enough to destroy my life’s work. I found Marc via a Google search, and still to this day, it’s the best thing the Internet has done for me and my family. I do not say this lightly, Marc is not only a dedicated attorney, and he has become a friend to myself and my family. I highly recommend Marc and the Johnston Law...

I’m writing this review with a heavy heart and deep disappointment in the Johnston Law Firm — especially Rob Kline and Marc Johnston, the attorneys who handled my personal injury case.
What happened to me wasn’t just negligence; it was professional failure at every level. Despite trusting Rob Kline and his firm to handle my serious injury and potential malpractice claim, they failed to file a required tort claim notice within 60 days — something that every competent personal injury or malpractice attorney should know is absolutely critical. This wasn’t a minor oversight — it destroyed my ability to pursue justice.
After two years of minimal communication, Rob Kline abruptly told me they were “too busy” and referred me to another attorney. That new attorney — and four others I later consulted — were appalled that a tort claim wasn’t filed on time. One attorney was so moved by the sheer negligence of this mistake that, as I sat there crying, she cried with me.
What makes this worse is the complete lack of genuine care. Over the entire three years, I never once met the lead attorneys, Rob or Marc, handling my case. Meanwhile, their glowing online reviews describe clients being visited in hospitals and receiving compassionate, hands-on attention. That was not my experience. I felt ignored, minimized, and eventually discarded.
Even a quick online search reveals how vital it is to file a tort claim notice within 60 days for public entity-related malpractice — I figured it out in 10 minutes. Yet somehow, the Johnston Law Firm, a firm that advertises itself as specializing in personal injury and malpractice, failed to do something so basic and essential.
I am now facing financial devastation. The mishandling of my case has contributed directly to me having to sell my home. I trusted Rob Kline, Marc Johnston, and his firm with something that mattered deeply — and they let me down in a way that will affect my life until the day I die. Hopefully, sooner than later. I live in severe pain from the malpractice that occurred. Sometimes, I wake up in a cold sweat, screaming and crying from the pain.
Do not trust Rob Kline, Marc Johnston, or any of the lead attorneys at Johnston Law Firm. Their negligence cost me everything. Don't let that happen to you. My cat did more for me than Rob Kline or Marc Johnston did.
Gotta love Jason! He did the best he could with what he had. He's a great person, and I feel horrible that he's attached to this firm. In no way should this be a bad mark against him. So, the review is not towards him in any way. In fact, writing this review is probably two or three times the amount of work Rob Kline put in over...

In 2009, I was rear-ended by another driver while stopped at an intersection. As a result of the collision, I had to endure a multitude of treatments including months of physical therapy, injections, a shoulder surgery and two neck surgeries . Knowing I would need help in recovering property losses as well as long-term care costs, I sought out a general attorney for legal help. After a couple of years, this attorney was eager to settle my case through mediation (he was relying very heavily on the medical opinions put forth by the defendant’s doctors). I felt it was a less than favorable amount and wasn't worth all of the agony I had endured. At that time, I began to seek new counsel. After many phone calls, I was referred to Marc Johnston. My initial call to Mr. Johnston's office, I had to leave a voicemail. He personally returned my call later that day. It turned out he had just left Portland for a two week vacation to Hawaii with his family. Nonetheless, he was interested to hear the details of my case. Over the next couple of weeks, we spoke over the phone on several occasions as he was eager to answer all of my questions. At no time, did he make me feel like I was "bothering him" on his vacation. The difference in representation between my first attorney and Marc Johnston, was night and day. Marc reached out to my medical providers and got their unbiased medical opinion for my case. He worked with experts to determine not only the costs of treatments to date, but also calculations for future medical care. This information was presented in the mediation Marc led that resulted in a settlement that was far more reasonable than the settlement offer my original attorney described to me as “fair." Even though the fee was based on a fixed percentage of the gross settlement, the service from The Johnston Law Firm didn’t stop there. Marc and his assistant actively worked with various medical providers to reduce my medical bills to a fraction of their original totals; more consistent with the rates charged to insurance companies. This resulted in over $10,000 of additional net proceeds to me in the settlement. Finally, Marc assisted me with other financial matters that related to the collision. Increasing medical bills and out of pocket co-payments left me overextended on credit card debt. Marc was able to work with the credit card companies to reduce the exorbitant debt, resulting in more proceeds from the settlement. Anyone considering using The Johnston Law Firm for a personal injury case need look no further. The expertise, professionalism, and customer service of Marc and his staff are...
