K.. well you would think for the price they would have a coffee maker at least in the room but nope.. ok no big deal but then you think if you need help with anything then there would be someone around to do so.. nope. Every time we needed something the office was closed and nobody would answer the phone from the number on the door and the mail box was full..super.. Then we notice a wasp nest forming right above our entrance to our room, we ask ( when they did finnaly answer the phone) to please have that taken care of as I am deathly allergic to bee stings..they said ok but then never came and just basicly said forget you.. Then as everything closes very early on the island we were stuck in our room, not a big deal but our T.v wouldnt play a single station unless it was Spanish or church.. Had no clean towels our second night to shower cuz again there was no one around to help..just seems they take your money and then say "good luck bye"..THEN on top of everything else.. our smoke detector went off, off and on all night! Starting at 12am!! Called and called and of course no answer and no way to leave a message!! Couldn't wait to get the hell away from there the next morning.. I think you guys need to understand that basics of customer service.. people pay a lot of money to you guys for a single night! And to ignore someone about a wasp nest that can kill them is just wrong.. and not having someone to reach out to in an emergency is unacceptable.. We had gotten ZERO sleep the last night cuz of our rooms smoke detector going off for no damn reason.. my husband and I do not smoke, and there was no fire! Bottom line nobody to help and we could of taken it down off the wall and took out the battery but in the state of Ohio like most state that is illegal and holds a huge fine!! So not many options... Just not right to treat people like they don't matter.. so thanks for that.. UPDATE: OK so you say there are coffee pots in the cottages? Wells ours there's was not one.. ok so you say you have coffee in the lobby? That's super!! Except that your "lobby" was closed 90% of our stay and you don't even open said lobby till 10am.. well after breakfast.. for the price you charge that's unacceptable. Lastly no, there will be no chance to make things better on our next stay as we will NEVER be staying at your cottages agian..and one more thing.. if you did in fact spray like you said then perhaps use another spray because as we got back, there were still bees coming and going to and from that particular nest.. thanks for the generic response but I honestly didn't need it. Good luck on treating your guests better going further, cuz at this point in time it's not good. (And thank you for down playing the bees by saying they were just carpenter bees, that just means they chew a chunk out of you when they attack..super...
Read moreI'm very sorry to be writing this negative review. about the Birds Nest. All of you can see that I had submitted a Very positive review in 2018 (below).||Since that time, my fiancĂŠ and I have stayed at the birds nest on three other occasions, the first 2 of which were great! However, we went again on the weekend of August 2, 2024, and - well, Immediately upon entering unit #9, we smelled an strong odor of urine in the bathroom - especially when we opened the sink cabinet. Apparently, someone thought it would be funny to take a leak in there and let it soak into the wood. And there was no getting away from it! Besides that, we soon realized that the shower wasn't working right. The water was ice cold, but then if you turned it just a little, it would become far too hot! We played around with it for a while but could not get it to a decent medium temperature.||By this time, the office was closed so I sent an email to the manager, Angela, and let her know that I will come to the office in the morning and hope to either switch units or have these issues dealt with somehow. ||When I arrived in the morning, Angela was not there but I was greeted by a nice guy who was communicating with her. I was told that housekeeping will address the urine odor, and a maintenance person will check out the shower. I also received a nice email from Angela herself, so it felt as though things will be handled OK. ||With that, my fiancĂŠ & I left the unit for atleast 4 hours and enjoyed the island. When we came back that afternoon, we walked into the same experience: the urine odor and same issue with the shower. By then, the office was closed, so we just had to live with these issues for the remainder of the weekend. I sent another email to Angela, but there has been no response to this day, and not even a partial refund. ||||The true disappointment is, this resort used to be awesome when Angela was in the office more, and cared to handle things herself. It has obviously gone downhill since she has chosen to take the backseat. And apparently, when guests have issues like these, she sends one nice âLet me see what I can doâ e-mail but then just lets the chips fall where they may & goes silent, instead of ensuring that guests will return in the future. ||||Bottom line: You may want to look elsewhere to stay on the island. But if you do stay at this place, be prepared for zero help if the shower doesnât work and/or you have to smell piss all weekend, or something else...
Read moreI was grateful to find Birdâs Nest Resort as I was planning a 25th wedding anniversary trip last minute. My husband had actually proposed in Put in Bay 26 years ago. Birdâs Nest had availability and were more affordable than other options on the island. Ed answers the phone and is at the front desk most of the time. He was knowledgeable and provided the information to check in late and about good local places to go. This resort is a group of multiple manufactured home type rooms. Our room was small but appeared to be updated. There were a few small things that might bother some such |as unfilled holes in the wall in the bathroom from a towel rack that fell down, the bathroom door having to be pulled hard to shut fully or only one lamp on the bedside table so only one of us had enough light to read at bedtime. WiFi was not stable enough to use. Cell service for us was also not functional. Cable tv also spotty. But we were happy to rely on reading and werenât there to stay in our room. Birdâs Nest is farther from town but we rented a golf cart that worked well to get us around except on the 2nd morning when it was raining. We took a taxi into town as we would have gotten soaked in the golf cart. We were happy being farther from town as it was peaceful and there are strict rules keeping loud parties from occurring. My husband did enjoy the pool on a hot afternoon and had it to himself most of the time. The vending machine was covered in spider/bug webs and the $2 pop that came out was warm. The resort allow pets which was wonderful and every pet owner that we saw had quiet dogs. There were several families that appeared to be enjoying the pool and outside areas. Bed was comfortable. Window unit air conditioner was fast in cooling the room and keeping it comfortable for sleeping. Water was hot and plentiful. Grounds were maintained. I would say this isnât high end living but is clean, affordable and a functional living arrangement for those...
