I am sixty one years old and this was my first time visit. I have medical issues, especially my legs and weight, but to me this was worth the difficulty of getting through it and back up the forty two steps to get out of it. It’s beautiful, magical and fascinating. What a truly precious find that is now a National Treasure. I’m proud it’s in Ohio too. Please make a point of going to see it. It’s a once in a lifetime experience.
They ask you not to touch the crystals, as the oil from our hands turn the crystals black; but while exiting the cave there is a very low section that you have to bend for. Also, the cave drips water, which then creates shallow puddles. Exiting was difficult without touching the sides and trying to avoid water in your shoes. Also, I feel the group size they take down is too large. They should make the groups smaller. That would make the viewing and the exiting easier. Even with the little difficulty, I’m so...
Read moreFun place. Tour includes "cave" (hole you walk down 42 steps move 10 feet to the right and the walk back up 42 steps) and the winery tour which was neat. Comes with drink chips. We had kids with us and they got juice from the vineyard grapes. Not fancy but clean and interesting . I would suggest waiting until after the tour so you can hear about which one would be best for you. They discuss this here but the bartender may be too busy to get into it..so wait. Our winery guide (long hair glasses beard tie dye) was very good. Informative and patient with the drunks. Clear and polite. Our tour guide for "cave" (it's not a cave it's a hole in the ground but you can't touch anything) was not very personable and pretty snippy (think Clark from the office...little Dwight near the end of the series. Not entirely unlikable but...could do without) would recommend. We brought kids and they...
Read moreAll I can say is, dont blink. The website mentioned $8 adult/$4 kids tickets to see the "crystal cave," but the only available option upon arrival was $14 adult/$8 kids for the "cave and wine tour." For this, you got a dixie cup of wine/juice, 5 min max in the crystal "cave," and a 15 min overview of wine-making. The "cave" portion consists of a walk down a flight of stairs into a geode "room." It honestly looks very cool inside. The guide spoke for 2 min and then asked us to go around the corner... Which led us back to the staircase we'd just gone down. No cave. No tour. You're just standing in a geode for 3 minutes. Everyone else we were down there with was looking around, utterly confused by what our money had bought us. Half of our group didn't bother with the wine tour... those that went said is was ok, but nothing special. I would not do this again and would...
