Since their opening, a year or so ago, I have had the good fortune to sit down in this wonderful eatery at least five times. I usually stop in after a walk in sunshine along the Pacific ocean but on occasion I've made it my destination for an evening dinner. I can't say enough about the lovely way each visitor is greeted, the door is held open, and smiles accompany a warm welcome. Seating is available both inside and outside in the enclosed patio area that allows for al fresco dining with the comfort of heat lamps on chilly evenings - lights strung around the patio make for a festive ambience. I am not a drinker of alcohol, but there is a bar that attracts those who do. A trio of delicious salsas are delivered to each table with fresh chips - I usually order the fresh guacamole as well, yum! - and then there is the menu with many a good item - but a highlight for me is the deliciously prepared, tender ribeye steak, perfectly seasoned, a complete meal with a medley of grilled veggies and rice - I cannot pass up the outstanding refried beans, so I usually order those instead of rice; this entrée is an absolute treat for the taste buds, consistently excellent, and generous enough to share or take home a portion - I highly recommend you stop in and try this entrée - of course there are many other items on the menu, but I come back for the fabulous flavor of the ribeye steak entrée, so I rely on my fellow diners to order the other yumminess and let me...
Read moreGreat hospitality, great food, great service! I had the mescal and pineapple juice cocktail {sorry, can't remember the name they gave it but I call it a Santa Pina.) and it was outstanding, a nice change from a margarita. The pescado a la Veracruz is white fish with peppers, onions, tomatoes, and green olives. Mine was perfectly cooked. The fish was moist, the veggies with a hint of crunch and excellent quality olives. The rice and black beans were perfectly cooked and flavorful. My wife had the carne asada plate. The skirt steak was great quality and a perfectly cooked medium as ordered. The host greeted us like we were long time customers even though it was our first visit and let us choose our table. The wait staff was friendly but not obsequious. Definitely coming back and definitely recommending Maderos Cocina Mexicana to everyone who likes...
Read moreExpensive with no clue how to treat locals. I ain’t some bloke visiting the Pier. I live on Garnet and Broadway and have for almost 5 years. When you tell them that you live down the street, and they still side-eye and overcharge you every time you walk through the door, doesn’t take much to avoid the place at all costs. Don’t know where all the rave reviews are coming from. Mediocre food at best. Blackened chicken is hit or miss. Still haven’t made tacos out of them after being told over and over again it’s the best thing on their menu. Place really needs to relocate. Get an affordable taco spot that caters to locals, these Chronic Tacos and wannabe Taquerias are really not doing it for South Redondo. When the best Mexican spots in town are El Torito and Chipotle you know you...
