Hotels in the San Francisco Bay Area are very expensive so I usually opt to stay a little bit farther away and save money. Point Richmond is not the same as Richmond and is a much safer area so this is a good option. I like Best Western’s rewards program and their properties are generally decent. They aren’t great, but they aren’t awful either. this hotel definitely needs some work. Many of the TVs are very temperamental and some of the heaters don’t work well which is necessary in the Bay Area. I would stay away from the rooms that face the highway as that seems to be where some of the sketchier people stay. and then the other thing is that despite the fact, this is a no smoking hotel, many of the room smell like they have been smoked in, either tobacco or pot. I’ve changed rooms a few times because of it. The front desk staff is great and are very helpful. They do serve free breakfast until 9 o’clock, and have eggs, sausage, potatoes, and waffles.

This place is an ancient motel located in an industrial wasteland. The location was hard to find because it has no sign and is hidden behind an old gas station. Check-in was completed by passing my credit card through a slot in a bullet proof glass window. The lone employee explained that the lobby is closed at night "for safety". Since I was the one left standing outside during the ridiculously long check-in procedure, we know it's not the safety of customers they are concerned with. The rooms have had one of those peculiar makeovers unique to these types of motels. Lots of new fake marble in the bathroom but the original 60's bathtub is still there and the fan is literally louder than a motorcycle. I never heard of this "SureStay by Best Western" brand but I'm officially adding it to the "dead to me" list. I would never stay here again for any price.

Recently stayed here for a race in Sonoma. As hotels are pretty booked up during this weekend we opted to stay here as the price and location worked for us for just one night. The room itself was decently clean and bed comfy but smelled strongly of cigarettes. Minimal amenities provided not even hand soap bar. Only 1 bath towel in room. Room was pretty loud as guests checked in late into the night and road noise. They do provide ear plugs so that should be the first clue its gonna be noisy. My main issue was the garbage and crappy breakfast. Which seems to be a common complaint yet the owner denies in all his review responses. Instead just work on the problem. The garbage outside was overflowing when I arrived and left. The pool area was a disaster.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER The hotel management totally disappointed us with the quality of the room as well as the complimentary meal. We booked a room here for 3 days and our first day was horrible with the kind of room we were given. We were given a room where flush did not work and what added to it was that our room was filled with the water from restroom commode. It was stinking profusely. Upon requesting the front desk for a different room, we were refused saying all the rooms were booked out and we had to wait for a technician to come fix it even after saying it was not stay able any more. So we had to pressure them to move us to a different room which they all of a sudden accepted, wherein they initially said all the rooms were sold out but made one for us. Later, on the second day at the complimentary meal, we were constantly being monitored on the amount of food that we eat and they created a very uncomfortable situation for us. We were constantly told we cannot take food outside the dine-in area, which we were okay thinking its a rule for all and we need to abide by it. But to our surprise many people were taking food outside the dine area and upon enquiring about it with the person in the dine area, she turned a deaf ear to us in spite of seeing others taking boxes of food outside the dine area. Upon taking the issue to the notice of the manager, she was taking the side of her employee to our surprise and threatened to have us vacate the room after which we left the area and went back to our room. To our shock, we were then asked to leave the hotel room abruptly even when we had one more day of our reservation left. Never ever happened to us where we were racially discriminated to this level. We felt humiliated in front of all the other hotel residents and their staff and were...

Do Not stay at this property if you value your privacy. On the first night staying there me and my wife called the front desk to let them know the cable and wifi where having issues and we were told it will fix it's self (it did not). A few nights later we received a call from the hotel requesting permission to enter the room to fix the neighbors cable we told them that we were not comfortable with them entering the room and that we would be back in 1-2hrs. They entered the room anyways and tried to simply say nothing hoping we wouldn't notice but it was very noticeable. When I went to the front desk with no prodding at all they told me they went in and that the manager told them to. I asked to speak with the manager and was told they would be in the next morning at 9, so I delayed the start of my work day to speak with them. When I went to the front desk I was told the manager was in surgery but might be back later. I made a complaint to best western who assured me I would have a response in 2-5 day. 1 week later I called them back as there had been no response, they said there was a response on the system not one that had been relayed to me. It seems that magically the cable for the room next to me had turned into the power for 4 rooms making it justifiable. When I informed the agent that they called us and specifically stated it was a cable issue multiple times they said is there any thing else I can help you with. TLDR: I was evidently far less important than the guy next door Manager was nonexistent/nonresponsive They will enter your room any time they like and...

My family of four recently stayed in a two double bedroom at SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Point Richmond, and our experience was okay.

On the positive side, the room was equipped with essential amenities including a microwave and mini fridge, which made our stay convenient. The shower pressure was satisfying, and the ample supply of towels was appreciated.

However, the cleanliness of the beds left much to be desired, with noticeable stains that were concerning. While we managed, it did detract from our overall comfort.

We encountered connectivity issues with the smart TV, as it was unable to connect to the WiFi network. The front desk staff explained that the hotel is undergoing renovations, and the new TVs have not been fully integrated into the WiFi system yet. Additionally, the closure of the pool due to renovations limited our access to amenities during our stay.

One highlight was the complimentary breakfast, where we enjoyed the option to make our own waffles. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by other guests who left the dining room in disarray, including leaving the waffle maker unattended. In the absence of a dining room attendant, I had to intervene to prevent a potential hazard.

In summary, our stay at SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Point Richmond was decent, but there is definite room for improvement. We hope that once the renovations are complete, the hotel will address these issues to provide a more enjoyable...
