Let me start by saying we are very disappointed with this place. My family went here for Father's Day and it was terrible from the beginning. There was no one at the front desk to greet us and we waited several minutes before even being acknowledged. When the server came we told him our reservations and he proceeded to take us downstairs to what I call a dungeon. The space was a dealth trap. It was one way in and one way out with no windows. The ceiling was very low, the lighting terrible and dark, it smelled horrible and musty and we were right next to a storage/ supply room with the door open. This was totally unacceptable and I immediately told the guy seating us to move our party of 15+. He had an attitude like we did something wrong. I asked to be moved upstairs to an area where were are familiarized because my family has been coming here for years and he said those tables were reserved for people who requested them. My reservations were made 2 months in advance so I wasn't happy with his statement. The whole time he had an attitude. When we finally got seated the female server was awesome hence the 1 star is for her otherwise it would be a zero. The food was bland. Very disappointed that on Father's Day you didn't offer Prime Rib, yet we see picture all on the website. If you plan to be there on a long term I suggest you get it together and do better. We're not...
Read moreI chose to go here for my birthday dinner back in August because I was charmed with the Point Richmond area. This historic hotel looks so charming, and the restaurant inside looked so authentic and well-kept that I was eager to try it out for a special occasion!
Perhaps we visited on a bad night, but my boyfriend and I were seated in a large enclosed room full of huge parties with a loud crying children and other tables of loud adults getting drunk. We were dressed nicely and looking for a lovely romantic dinner at a historic hotel/restaurant. Instead, it felt like we were at Chili’s during Friday night Happy Hour.
More disappointing than the ambiance was the menu. The flavor combinations were all a mix of greasy and/or spicy, and didn’t seem to have any sort of traditional or historic relevance to the restaurant at all. I chose the least offensive looking seafood dish, about which I can only remember that it wasn’t too bad, but wasn’t very good.
Had we been seated in the charming downstairs bar lounge area, or even in a different part of the dining room upstairs, perhaps the experience would’ve been less un-enjoyable. But we both agreed our first trip to the restaurant left a bad taste in our mouth, and will likely be our last trip. We left feeling underwhelmed by the food and overwhelmed by the...
Read moreAfter after going for a hike at Point San Pablo, my friend and I decided we wanted a bite to eat. I drove us to Point Richmond to the Biancoverde Restaurant that had recently opened in the historic Hotel Mac that was built in 1911.
We walked into the Hotel Mac at around 2:30, and my friend and I agreed that we had arrived at the right place. The bar had bar stools with velvety cushions in rich, warm colors that were very inviting. There were different areas to sit in. We ended up choosing their room with stained glass windows. It felt like we were in Italy.
We both had a Mojito that was refreshing. Then we decided to split an Insalata di Barbabietole--it was delicious!!! The roasted beets went especially well with the mango and basil dressing on greens. We also had Ravioli Formaggio with their in-house meatballs and mariana sauce. We were able to choose which pasta with whatever meat/fish and sauce we wanted. It was yummy!
Food. * Service * Ambiance *
There was free parking on the street. Also, Point Richmond is a cute little town to...
