I’m a Choice Privileges Diamond member who booked this property for a multi‑week work stay because it’s close to my job site and part of the Choice network where I earn rewards. I’m now into my fifth week, and while the rooms were clean on arrival and some amenities are fine, the way this hotel is run has made my stay far more frustrating than it should be. From the start, things were a hassle. At check‑in, two bookings were mistakenly created under my name, which led to three lockouts in the first week and repeated calls treating me as if I caused the problem. In my second week, I was locked out again at lunch and had to wait so long that I ended up eating my lunch at the front desk. In five full weeks, no one has entered or cleaned my room a single time. I was never told that I had to request service, and as a Diamond member, I shouldn’t need to track someone down just for towels, trash removal, or glassware. The 6–8 rooms of crew I referred here (most don’t speak English) likely haven’t received cleaning either, because no one was informed this was required. The billing process only added to the frustration. My Sunday–Friday booking was $392.93 (with the 10% discount for 3+ nights), but because I casually said I might leave early (though I didn’t), I was switched to nightly billing at $94.08 per night (regular rate). Now my account shows both the $392.93 authorization and nightly charges, unnecessarily tying up funds and making the stay more complicated than it needed to be. What really stands out is how this place operates. Every staff interaction — check‑in, billing, keys — is filed under “J. Patel,” making it impossible to know who is responsible for anything. The owners live on‑site across multiple generations, take the prime parking spots, and the whole atmosphere feels less like a guest‑focused hotel and more like a private fiefdom where guests are tolerated rather than prioritized. To be fair, the pool (when open) is clean and well‑kept, the bathroom heat lamps are unique, the laundry is affordable, and the property itself is tidy. But the repeated lockouts, complete lack of housekeeping (without ever being told we had to request it), unnecessary billing complications, locked amenities despite posted hours, and the way this property is run make it very hard to recommend — even with the convenient location and Choice rewards.

The room was nice and well kept. The room had an odd layout in that the shower was exposed to both the bathroom and the main room. We are thinking it may have been a kind of honeymoon suite at some point. Either way it wasn't a big deal for us as a married couple but if you're staying with someone you're not intimate with, it would pose a problem, as there is no barrier to bathroom sights, sounds, and smells.

Hotel overall appearance was nice. At check in (early afternoon) there was no staff on the front desk, I rang the desk bell several times and after several minutes someone came. When we arrived in the room, I first noticed a piece of a wrapper (?) lying in front of the A/C unit, making me question if the room had been vacuumed. When I used the shower, I noticed several (12-15?) long black hairs on the side of the shower and in the tub. When I stepped out of the tub, I saw several more on the back of toilet and in the floor. My travelling companion joked the bathroom needed a shave. This room HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED! At bed time, when the sheets were pulled back, we saw something black smeared on the sheets in a couple of places. It had the appearance of mascara and the smears were 2-3 inches wide and 4-7 inches long. At this point we complained to the front desk and a man delivered more sheets promptly. He handed them to me and bid me a nice evening before quickly disappearing down the hall. No apology and certainly no offer to change the sheets. I mistakenly believed someone would replace the filthy sheets. After replacing the sheets, we realized there was no clean pillow cases brought. Again we called the front desk and about 10 minutes later the same man handed me the replacement pillow cases. I felt we were staying in a dirty room the rest of the visit. When checking out, again no one was at the front desk. After ringing the bell once a minute for about 12 minutes, a man came from the back. I handed him my keys and he printed me a receipt. I don't remember him ever addressing me, he certainly did not ask about the stay or express any desire I return. This is a nice property, it seems to need new management that will make some effort to clean the property and act as if they want a customer to enjoy their...

We were incredibly disappointed and disgusted with our recent stay. We will never stay in the Quality Inn and Suites in Loves Park again. The bathroom in our room had a distinct, foul odor to it that and we could not pinpoint the cause. While swimming, when we were near the pool's filter/drain area, there was such a unpleasant smell coming from it that we got out of the pool and never returned. Further, upon opening the dresser drawer, my son found a take out tray of old food from a previous guest! I complained to the front desk and requested that our room be thoroughly cleaned while we were gone for the day. We left around 9:30am and returned after 9pm. Upon walking into our room, we found a pink lighter that did not belong to us and saw that the bathroom had not been cleaned as requested. None of the used towels had been removed and the carpets were not vacuumed - obviously something that is not done daily. While I was informed that the towels could not be removed per regulations, I thought this was purely an excuse since I had personally requested for the bathroom to be cleaned. The lighter was found by housekeeping, which they assumed belonged to me, so they placed it on the vanity. It's disturbing that previous guest's belongings and food were found in our room. It makes you wonder just how often the rooms are really cleaned! What is more disgusting is that after I asked the General Manager if he was aware of our situation, he simply shook his head yes and looked away. Customer Service and cleanliness are obviously not priorities in this establishment. I will contact the city's health department to take a closer look into this hotel...
