The campsite was ok! Definately not 5 stars and the manager Daniella wasnt willing to give me a partial credit due to the fact I paid for a paved concrete pad/ walk way but everytime I stepped out im stepping in dirt tracking dirt in my camper. I asked him to come take a look and he didnt even want to do that. I ended up just buying a cheap mat to put outside my door. The owner did reach out to me about the issue and I appreciated that! The pool is small but clean and the water was warm. The place is not what I expected nothing compared to Camp Margaritaville but it grew on me. No kids pool area / water slides. The lake is nothing special across the street from a store went there about 10 times winn dixie is down the road toward the right. The grill/swing was dirty. Downtown is about 10 to15 minutes away. The beach down the road you can drive on during certain areas i just parked in the public parking and walked. The store at this campsite is resonably priced and the majority of the staff were polite and friendly. There is a dollar general across the street near the front office. Staff at dollar general were helpful and nice. If your looking for luxury and ammenties this is not it. Some sites have trees some are in the shade. Some very tight spaces. Saw a gentlemen hit is rv and damage it trying to turn. My space 83 was aight. I reserved a week here. Smaller camp ground. Theres a italian restaurant across the street. Buffalo wild wings and chickfila were good! The pool is clean and the laundry room was clean. $3.00 to wash little extra for hot water etc. The bugs outside were minimal. Trash pickup was good. Really wasnt that many kids around my childs age of 3. Harrys seafood was really good! Definately check out Saint George Street! The popcorn factory on George street was good and they give you free popcorn samples and the Italian restaurant directly across the street from popcorn factory is good. The parking downtown is 2.50 per hour. We went at 9:00am on the free fort ferry tour. Its best to go early like at 840AM to stand in line. I went the day prior for the 3:30 and it was canceled due to weather. This camp ground is quiet overall! I met some other fellow friendly campers! The beach is about 3 minutes down the road if you drive I parked at the pier it was free. The beach itself was clean the water is on the...
Read moreFor the most part I enjoy staying at KOA Campgrounds. On a 6-week road trip 4 years ago I stayed in a lot of KOA across the country. And this one on a scale of 1 to 10 this is a 10.5. It was quiet clean, very well-kept and the staff was always available to answer questions or lend a helping hand. The dog friendly Campground has a clean pet area for your four-legged family members. And the rest rooms that were closest to my campsite we're unbelievably clean and private. There was individual toilet rooms an individual shower rooms. And for us girls that is so important. I have never seen a KOA offer as much as this one did per campsite. At my camp site I had an outdoor patio set of table and 4 chairs, a gas grill, a chimney, and a two-person rocking chair and an additional fire ring and that was common at a lot of campsites. There was also complete hookups. Everything you needed water electricity cable. All of the spots were clean and well-kept. All of the cabins also we're very well kept on the outside, I didn't go in any of them but I'm sure they're just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. And the playground for the kids had everything they would need to wear out their little body so they would sleep really good that night. Of course if it's too hot to play outside then it's time to either get in the pool or go to the beach. And what a pleasure it was to have a pet friendly Beach so close just a bicycle ride away. And there's a pier in the event you want to do a little fishing. This Campground has everything to offer any camper from the pop up tent to the more luxurious motorhomes and fifth wheels. It was also nice that I was no more than 10 or 15 minutes from Old Town St Augustine. And I took advantage and did a little bit of souvenir shopping. I would highly recommend this campground to anyone who wants to take sometime and just get away and enjoy the peace and quiet and it's good to know you don't have to have a tent or camper to do it they have everything you need there can be happy and experience the wonderful great outdoors....
Read moreWe stayed in one of the cabins on the little canal area. We're not typically cabin campers because we have a dog and normally the cabins don't allow dogs. We were super surprised to find that this one did so we booked it for a random weekend. Now we'll be repeat campers here for sure!
The cabins are roomy and well maintained. They had heat and air conditioning which was very useful for us because the weekend we were there the temperature did swing wildly between the daytime and nighttime hours.
The campsite was a little smaller than we're used to with tent camping so if we had needed to put up all of our pop-ups we would not have had enough room but because we had the cabin that really was unnecessary anyways so I don't see that being a problem here. There is definitely space for a couple of popups if needed. I appreciate that a fire ring and a table was provided.
The staff were all so kind. We would go in each morning to get coffee and have a chit-chat with whoever was working that day and everybody was always so fun to talk to. We also bought a couple of things from the store, we got a bottle of wine which was good (comes from the local winery), and we purchased a picture, never would have expected to be buying art from the KOA but here we are. We were told that the proceeds were to benefit the children's charity that the KOA does and I know I've read in the past that they do a lot for children with cancer, I'm a cancer survivor, so I knew I had to buy a picture but I really wanted to buy them all because they were so great.
The location is also ideal, we were easily able to ride our bikes to the beach and all around St. Augustine even to the Bridge of Lions. There's an Italian restaurant right across the street (if you get tired of cooking your own food) that's excellent.
We had such a nice time we even extended our stay an extra night. We will definitely be back to stay in the...
