Great place. Will come back.
Only drawbacks are no trays for food offered for the meals they offer. Was told by staff the person that runs the meals daily threw them away. Other guests stated that other Drury hotels do have trays. You need these again. Bring them back. It's impossible trying to bring food to your room to eat in peace and trying not to spill it.
Also, the toilet in my bathroom was a pain to flush.
Another drawback was the cost of the valet parking. From time I booked my visit back in Spring 2025 to the time of my stay, they increased the valet parking each night from $39-$46. Ridiculous. There are cheaper overnight parking garages within a block of the hotel. Unfortunately, in summer, these were full when I drove by. đ
Positives - the staff was great. Nice clean room. Quiet except for construction by the Aztec Theater and River walk noise. But we were on the 17th floor. Ideal for reduction for noise.
The valets are fast. Or at least for us, and using the texts request was easy. But valet parking is a separate cost from your hotel costs. Keep that in mind.
But we did not have any issues with valet or our car. But I didn't keep track of mileage and our rental already had some scrapes on it. So just watch those things with any valet service. But the staff we dealt with was nice, courteous and fast.
Hot showers and great AC. No Bugs.
Great having options for both breakfast / dinner complementary is a nice touch if you want to save money from eating out.
The staff is very good about keeping food available and fresh and very good about not letting guests touch the food when serving. So very clean and well managed.
We didn't eat dinner, but breakfast was good options, and they made fresh pancakes daily. Just wish they had it last longer for available times. Only drawback.
We didn't get to use the pool at all but will next time.
Location is just a few blocks away from Alamo. Lots of shopping, museums, and Riverwalk is just a short distance away. We could see a few shots of Riverwalk from our hotel room and just a block from famous Rita's restaurant on the Riverwalk.
Overall we had a good experience. Glad I chose this hotel. Others were too expensive and/or had issues we didnt want to mess with. This one was a good choice for us.
It's an interesting and historical hotel and supposedly haunted. But I didn't experience anything while I was there.
Will return next time I have to...
Read moreI'm not the easiest person to please. When I book a two star hotel, I don't expect that much. Drury Plaza Hotel is considered a 2.5 star hotel by the Hotel rating scale, but I would place this a solid 3.5 out of 5. The building was created in the 1920s it's beautiful inside. You're getting a nice breakfast where food is a notch above the typical Holiday Inn Express fare, but they also give a dinner option. Is the dinner option great? Truthfully, not bad. Better than fast food choices and three free drinks per adult per night! Yes, all of this included with your room at no extra charge. Who else is doing this? But how is the hotel? Well, excellent! Here is the long list of positives: The rooms are a nice size, the bed comfortable. The AC worked well very. The WiFi not blocking so you can bring your Roku stick, your game consoles whatever and easily hook them up for the kiddos or yourself. The elevators moved reasonably fast. The ice machines working properly. Plenty of carts for luggage transport during check-in and checkout. I heard no noise during the night, in spite of being the nearest room to the elevator shaft on my floor! Good views from the high up rooms. Roof top terrace and pool well kept, two hot tubs to pick from on the roof. How about service? I had to ice my foot nightly so I had to ask for additional ice bucket bags. No problem. We spilt water all over our bed at 7pm and had to ask for an entirely new sheet set. That was brought up within 10 minutes. It is VERY hard for a business to check every box and get all of this stuff right and Drury Plaza Hotel did an incredible job during our stay. I didn't even mention the location. This is on the Riverwalk. You just go the basement and it exit right on the riverwalk. Is it the closest hotel to mall / river center? No, but it's a 10 minute walk down the beautiful River Walk to get there. If you want closer, you can go spend 50% more and probably get much less for your money... Also about location, and this is important to me. The hotel is between E. Commerce and E.Market. Both of these are straight shots to I-37 where you tap into the major highways. You're a 5-minute drive to get on/off I-10... To the staff and management of Drury Plaza hotel, thank you for the wonderful stay. I wish every review I write could be like this one. I won't stay anywhere else in...
Read moreLocation is great, I don't really have an issue with the Hotel, but the valet service was horrible. Staff is very rude and unprofessional, I was discriminated against because of my race. I informed them that my car was full of bird droppings the first night we stayed at the hotel, and I asked if they could move it. Later, I had to pay for 2 days of parking when we were checking out which isn't bad if you are receiving a service. The problem is that the treatment I received from the staff was too harsh; they raised their voice and told me I had to go to the front lobby to talk to them, which I told them I had already done. I tried to explain to them and show them the receipt that the 2 days of parking had been paid out and we were ready to leave the facility, I wasnât feeling good, I have a medical condition so I was ready to get in the car but the staff member refused to listen to me and said that he didn't care, that they were a third party, and literally everyone around heard how terrible and discriminatory he was, ignoring me and expressing their inequality towards me, literally just walking with my keys in his hands and I told him to wait but didnât care, my husband was completely in shock, he couldnât even respond to him or anything and we werenât there to create an argument or anything, at that moment all I wanted was to cried but I looked around and everyone was looking at me like surprised and horrified and so I went to the front lobby again, a nice lady at the front lobby went and explain the whole situation and she was so empathetic and reasonable, she took the receipt and showed to him but still I had to go look for the key and after she showed that we had already paid for the service it seems incredible and totally unfair to me. She mentioned that they would refund the parking fee but so far I have not seen any notification or anyone trying to contact me. To be honest, the hotel offers excellent service and a great location and different amenities like a pool, spa, etc . Unfortunately the valet service ruins your stay.
Once again my horrible experience was with the Valet service. I even tipped them the day before because like I said I was paying for a service but I didnât expect to be treated like nothing just because of my race, he didnât treat no one else like that because they were black and...
