NOT A HIGHLIGHT! Kid Friendly! Not a good thing for couples trying to get away!
Let’s begin with the positives: Brian, Polo, Ivan, Jimmy, & Rick. There was also a porter whose name I can’t remember. Each of these employees went above and beyond. Four Brothers and room service are exceptional. The staff that we interacted with are trained well. They not only met but exceeded expectations.
The live music at four brothers was fantastic. The filtered in country music is torture! In a tourist area, neutral music is highly recommended.
The balcony view was entertaining. Listening to the St. Mary’s school, Jennifer Lopez, bridge talk over & over again was actually cool. The horse and buggies across the way were nice to watch. Location central to most activities.
I’m a bit jaded as I truly dislike the cattle/human herding on the riverwalk. Misting fans, loud tree trimming in the morning, and gross river water also leave a bad impression.
We only went this weekend because we had friends coming into town from North Carolina, and they really wanted to go. They did tell us that they really disliked the boat tour due to the discomfort of the heat.
We haven’t done the boat tour since moving to the area over 13 years ago, but understood the heat related dislike.
The hotel negative(s): elevators have zero air, hallways have minimal air, the rooms have locks on the thermostat to limit air flow.
It’s VERY KID FRIENDLY-(not a good thing for couples trying to get away)! which brings loud crying, a pool limited to children/people who may urinate, etc. in water, and shrill sounds during dinner.
I wouldn’t go in the pool on a dare. It was cloudy, which is by no means the fault of the staff, but rather the fact that limits aren’t placed on occupancy in the pool. Too many people make body oil, urine, hair products and other contaminants possible.
Our room was filthy, had toilet paper on the wall, debris in the toilet, and urine on the floor.
Additionally, the shower was caked in mildew, the vents filled with dust, and the place smelled like an aquarium. The bedding had black fuzzies in it???
The strawberries and champagne scam is terrible! $95.00 for 3 strawberries/sparkling wine for 2 people?????? Las Vegas hospitality would never consider the slight or ignorance!
I honestly didn’t want to deal with having to wait for hospitality to come up and clean. The 4pm check in should have provided enough time. So we went to the CVS for products, and cleaned it ourselves. Lint roller, sanitation, and antibacterial wipes for the remote, and various other things.
The room only provided ONE coffee cup! Cotton balls and q-tips, no shower cap, razor, toothpaste, comb. Marriott provides those.
Valet is understaffed! Not their fault! They made us late for a private event. We called down 30 min early to come down and wait another 15 for the car. They comped the daily rate, and we were grateful, however staffing is a problem.
The front desk is understaffed. One person for a line. No account of our stay was placed under the door, so I had to wait in line for over ten minutes to simply check out. I wouldn’t stay here again. I would visit the Four Brother, but the rooms aren’t nice enough to pay for that stay. I actually felt like we were in a dorm room.
Some of the reviews complain about view (they were too cheap to purchase the correct room), and others about dead nymphs in the room, yep roaches suck in any form, but mostly impossible to avoid in Texas. At least they were dead.
Roaches can live in the cleanest homes, but poor cleaning service is avoidable with appropriate staffing & training. If the Omni staffed accordingly, housekeeping would have time to look behind the...
Read moreI regret leaving this review and being negative about it. I like the Omni hotels and this wasn't my first time staying in one in San Antonio. However, my wife and I FINALLY got one whole night to ourselves without the kids so we went to a show and stayed at the Omni. Check-in was great, valet helped a lot, front desk very friendly. When we got to the room, I always give everything a once over. It's usually not needed at Omni properties but hey, I'm a creature of habit. First thing I noticed was there was still stuff in the fridge left by the previous customer. Ok, no biggie, I can throw it away just as easy as housekeeping. Then I saw a package of an over the counter medicine left behind. Ok, well, that's odd but again, I'm not going to fret over it. Then I saw one of the towels had a brown smudge on it in the bathroom. Again, I'm willing to overlook it, I won't use it, but this is starting to be a concern for an Omni property. This happens at a Best Western, well you get what you pay for. I expect better at Omni! However, we overlooked it, enjoyed the show and the Four Brothers restaurant, had a great night, comfy bed. We woke up and thought we'd splurge and do room service. Phone wasn't working! Such a small thing to be upset over, but I'm paying a lot of money to stat at the Omni, and the room is trashed and dirty and now the phone isn't working. I was hoping to treat my wife to breakfast in bed while I packed to go home but now we had to get something on the road. I couldn't even call to confirm check out time. I went to the front desk and asked for a manager but the gentleman at the front said he was a supervisor and could assist. I told him about everything and he offered an apology. He was really going to let it go at that which I get, but come on man, you know you messed up and I'm taking time to come and tell you about it, an upset customer! So I ask if there was anything they were going to do to compensate me for having an experience not up to the standards of the Omni and he pretty much said no since I booked on another site. I wasn't going to take that for an answer so he goes to get his manager, like I originally asked. They pretty much told me there is absolutely nothing they can do since I booked on another site and since I paid for my meal the other day on my card instead of booking to the room. No offer for another stay at a comped or discounted rate in the future, nothing, zero, zilch, nada. I'm not the type of person to bring problems up and demand something, but again, this is the Omni. I pressed them reiterating that they weren't going to do anything and they did offer to buy us breakfast at the restaurant but we had to get on the road so that didn't work. They then said they'd put a note on my account for a free breakfast for two next time. I didn't really have the time to debate any longer, I'm not too confident about that, but we'll see. I do customer service for a living, there was more they could do, it just felt like they didn't care...
Read moreWhile traveling through San Antonio on the way to Corpus with my mother, given my good previous experience with Omni I felt that booking the Omni in San Antonio was an easy and good choice. A day before arrival the hotel sent a text message and asking when we thought we were going to arrive and if we had any requests for the room, we let them know and requested a higher floor and extra soap as I like having some extra, and I also asked for the smaller bottles if they had went to bulk toiletries which I myself strongly dislike; more on that later. Upon arriving the property was beautiful and although it was a little annoying having to self park in a different garage, we got into the hotel in the end and given we were going to stay in downtown through this stay it all worked out in the end. Check in went smoothly and well and we were quickly sent up to our room. Generally I don’t stay in older hotels or buildings, mainly due to the common lack of outlets or sometimes finding overly old decor, but that was not the case here! The rooms were beautifully reimagined very recently, the decor was very nice and modern, and the room was by far cleaner and better than any room I’ve been given in San Antonio. The furniture was stylish and I love the beams in the room too, and this has definitely proven to me that Omni knows how to run a hotel! Once I got into the bathroom, unfortunately I noticed they went to bulk toiletries, I personally dislike these bulk dispensers as I find them to be gross and associate them with cheap public restrooms, not exactly what you would want to think of in a nice hotel. Upon walking all the way in though, right as I was about to go back down and request them, in the soap dish I noticed they left me a set of the tiny travel sized shampoo and conditioner and a bath bar so I didn’t have to use the gross dispensers, and I was so happy and impressed by such high levels of care for every guest and their unique needs. The AC did a good job keeping out the Texas heat, which was nice given our room opened right into the outside and the Keurig and smart TV were greatly appreciated too. Another thing I was surprised by how good the soundproofing was, despite being in the city in a relatively low rise hotel there was little to no noise at all in our room which was very much appreciated. As of my stay the restaurant on the river was closed, but not to worry, we were able to get breakfast at the El Collegio in the lobby, and it was very good, though the portions are more than enough to feed two people per dish. Overall, having stayed at many hotels in San Antonio, I think I’ve finally found the one I will be continuing to stay at, and I highly recommend this place, you cannot beat the service and cleanliness, and the location was great. I’ll definitely be back for...
