I just have to warn new upcoming clients. This law firm is all about getting your money upfront but they deliver poorly. The only reason I rated them a 1 star was because one of the main lawyers tried to make it right by not charging me more than 8K Let me tell you that at mediation the inadequate and inept little lawyer that represented me, Morgan, was a big time rude woman that literally told me that I couldn’t afford the main big lawyers of this firm as I didn’t have enough funds to afford that type of lawyer. The paralegal, Vanessa was also extremely rude and always talked over me and a few times also belittled me and made rude comments. I reported this to one of the main lawyers there and she tried to make it right by reducing my lawyers fees, well according to her cause they still kept a good 8K from me but said would stop charging me because of her team’s unprofessional behavior. I told her Morgan may have been discriminating against me because of my ethnicity and she assured me that was not the case. I mean at mediation, Morgan did nothing for me.. as a matter of fact, she tried to threaten stopping the mediation halfway just because she said she could do that.. but I didn’t allow her. So Morgan was a big time insensitive bully, didn’t do much for me at mediation, she looked more focused on getting the mediation over with. I do not recommend this law...

I hired Jean Brown Law firm back in January as I wanted results with a knowledgeable and experienced firm. It was an easy process to get started with Amy Owens, she quickly helped me with filing for divorce and temporary custody orders. The paralegal at the time was sweet and informative which gave me a little confidence and reassurance with my situation as I’m unfamiliar with the process and potential options based on my situation. She ended up resigning and I was assigned a different paralegal. They have a handful of long tenured staff that’s been with the firm, so I wasn’t too concerned. A bit of shift happened with my experience, but that’s expected with any transition.

I had my first mediation about a month ago and have my second one around the corner. I felt underprepared going into the first one and am hoping on more guidance and support this next round.

My suggestion is once you do your research and get clear on what you want, consult several attorneys who are experienced in their field and can help you with your exact needs and what you value. Amy has experience with my specific needs and I’m sure I will be satisfied with the final results.

Be prepared. It’s been extremely costly as you will be paying a premium hourly rate, at least compared to the other firms I consulted with.
