Rio Plaza — Local services in San Antonio

My experience with Rio Plaza was amazing! The entire staff was very attentive to my and my fiance's (now husband) needs and requests. Every meeting and encounter was so professional and thorough that on the day of our wedding we knew we had nothing to worry about. Melanie Planas, Catie Cottigham and Traci Burton will never know how much it meant to me! People are still talking about how amazing the food was, how beautiful the venue was and what a memorable wedding it was. The signature drink is also the talk of the town and it's been a month already!!! The wait staff also felt like family! Jefferey asked me over and over, lol, if I needed or wanted anything. He and the rest of the staff made sure my husband and I (as well as our guests) were taken care of. I have several friends that want this same experience and I tell them all Rio Plaza is where you will get it! Honestly, I cannot imagine getting married anywhere else. The rooftop in October made a perfect location for ceremony and the new Grande Vista room made downtown San Antonio sparkle as we had a great view through the panoramic windows. The decor was well above what I thought it was going to be. From the penthouse room that me and the bridal party got dressed in...all the way to the horse and carriage send off (which I also recommend) was breathtaking. Thank you all so much for making the biggest day of my life a night...

This was the worst experience I've ever had with a coordinator named, Melanie.I tried to get some information for two weddings coming up this year, When I told Melanie that I used to work there many years ago and I have an idea of what the floor plan may look like she got really obnoxious and rude more like defensive. Not only that, she actually hang up on me, I waited for her to maybe try and call back thinking it might have got disconnected by accident , she never did call back until I had to call her, at this point when I ask to speak to her manager she refused to give me a name , when she finally did give me a name because I told her I would go to the restaurant for myself she said, here you go!!!!!!!, I'm sure she would love to talk to you since you have a along history here, what she means by that I don't understand I have not worked there for almost 20 years lol . I will make sure I will never recommend this place ever again to any upcoming brides, God only knows what would have happen once a contract is signed. With that kind of attitude I can imagine how they would have treated us through the whole event. I'm very disappointed considering I have seen pictures on there website and it looked really inviting, too bad their staff is not as inviting as there website. Melanie really needs to find another job, one that has no corresponding with...

I was so happy I chose to get married and have my reception here. I was originally going to get married at South Padre Island but it was getting too expensive not only for us but for our guests too. I called the event coordinator, Melanie, a few months away from my wedding date and was frantic that I had to start my planning completely over. Melanie held my hand and walked me through all the details and gave great suggestions that really made a difference with the decorations. I wanted a romantic, classy yet simple intimate wedding and reception. Melanie helped me find venues and worked with me every step of the way (especially since I was already stressed and had no idea what I was doing). The ceremony and reception went without a hitch (that I was aware of, which is what counts) and all of my guests had a blast. Getting married here, I felt like I got a great deal because I had my very own wedding planner that went above and beyond to make sure I was happy on my special day. My wedding was exactly what I wanted and envisioned thanks to the all the staff that made sure everything ran smoothly. I would recommend the Rio Plaza to anyone who plans to get get married downtown...
