This property is only 8 months old and looks as though it opened yesterday. Super clean, excellent staff, and wonderful suites from the layout to the convenient features. Large TVs in both the living area and the bedroom. Super-comfy bed, large bathroom living areas. The location is quiet yet convenient. The "social" on Mon-Wed evenings is a typical social at these types of properties where guests who are staying as a group stick together and everyone else just comes for the free adult beverages. Not a lot of strangers socializing/getting to know one another. The intent is always great but, as has always been my experience - not many folks take advantage of the opportunity to meet new people and get to know them. A++ for the effort from the hotel. The food at this property's social is simple (i.e. pigs in a blanket and steamed spinach) but of good quality and flavor.
I had one minor issue with my room and one major issue (for me.) The minor issue is none of the outlets or lights on the long wall next to the entry door worked (where the sofa, etc. are located) and there was a breaker that was not properly seated in the breaker panel that was labeled "Lights." I attempted to seat it properly myself but to correct the issue, the panel cover must be removed, as it is blocking the breaker from being seated correctly. This appears to be just growing pains for a new property. I reported the issue and explained what was needed to fix it but it was not addressed while I was there. I figure this was to respect my privacy (DND hung on the door) and ensured the desk knew about it on check-out. The desk staff here are extremely nice and attentive.
My one major issue for me is probably unavoidable for the hotel but that doesn't make it any less an issue for me and others like me. I'm an insomniac by nature and need quiet and DARK to sleep. The blackout curtains in the room are indeed most effective. My issue is the smoke/CO2 detector on the ceiling just above the bed that flashes two green LEDs extremely brightly every few seconds. These LEDs literally light up the bedroom for a fraction of a second, every few seconds. They are so bright I could actually see the flash with my eyes closed/thru my eyelids. I've encountered this/similar issues before in other properties and usually put something over the LEDs (electrical tape/heavy paper, etc.) but I didn't have any of that on this trip. Plus the ceilings here are so high, I wouldn't have been able to reach it anyway.
Folks who sleep easier than me likely won't be bothered by this but it did affect my sleep. I don't do well wearing masks (and didn't have one accessible this trip) when sleeping. One night while here, my phone's health app said I got a total of 67 minutes sleep that night. I felt it the next day. Next time I'm in the area, I WILL stay at this property but I will come prepared with some sort of solution for this.
Breakfast was the typical fare (although why no bacon, IHG? I've been on the road for weeks staying in IHG properties the whole way and literally not one strip of bacon has been served ANYWHERE, ANYTIME!) while being relatively fresh. and the two types of yogurt were greatly appreciated. I also like that they have the mini-waffle makers, so you don't have to make a big waffle if all you want is just a little one with your meal.
This property is spotless everywhere, from the lobby, to the room, to the exercise facility. I can easily recommend this property based on my experience, and can't imagine not staying here next time I'm...
Read moreThis is a relatively new Staybridge Suites in an area surrounded by many other hotels. I stayed there 10 days, and mostly we had a good experience, although there were a few minor issues.||The good: The rooms are spacious and clean. We had a king studio suite, and while the bed was not separate from the seating area, there was plenty of room to relax. There was a full size sofa that pulled out into a bed, if you needed that. There was also a full kitchen with everything except an oven - even a full-sized dishwasher! There was also quite a bit of storage for an extended stay. The beds are comfortable, too!||They are pet friendly (with a fee), and they even offered my dog treats, telling me they take care of all of their guests, which I thought was sweet.||The location is convenient to multiple highways, and there are a lot of stores and restaurants very close by. There is also a full free breakfast every morning, plus the ability to cook in your room.||They have free laundry for guests! You do have to pay if you need to buy detergent, but if you bring your own, they have several free washers and dryers on site, which is very convenient. I have never seen entirely complimentary laundry in a hotel. Major kudos!||The fitness center, pool, and outdoor seating areas looked very nice, although we did not use them.||The less good: Safety is a concern here. I was harassed and followed by a non-guest who was taking some of the free coffee early one morning while walking my dog. No one was the front desk, so it seems this man was able to just wander in and out at will. He made me very uncomfortable. On a different occasion, I heard a guest talking about how their car window was smashed, and then on yet a different occasion, there were several police vehicles, including one marked "crime scene unit" outside the hotel for several hours. I would be very careful to ensure no valuables are visible and that you try to park as close to the lobby as possible. Unfortunately, there is an absurd amount of spots (close to 10!) that are marked as "reserved for Diamond Elite," but I am skeptical they police that policy, as those spots typically were filled overnight. Still, three separate incidents involving safety during a 10-day stay makes me feel like this is not a particularly safe location.||For being a relatively new hotel, the elevators consistently had problems. Of the 10 days I was there, only during one of them did both elevators work. For the last 8 days, there was only one elevator, and since the hotel was relatively busy, it was a long wait to be able to get around during the mornings. ||Service generally a little hit or miss. People were very nice (especially the lead housekeeper), but when we reported some issues with our TV, the front desk seemed unconcerned and said they would put a service ticket in, but they had no idea when maintenance would be around again. The TV issue was never fixed during the entire stay.||It was a little confusing how to get housekeeping. I was told at check in that it will be daily, but I later found out that if you don't remove the Do Not Disturb early, by 8am, they will not service the room. Also, if you need anything more (towels, etc.), you have to go down and get them. Every other hotel in which I've stayed will send someone to your door if you need anything. ||Mostly, I liked this hotel, and I would stay again. I hope that they hire some security for the evenings, as that would be my...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel during a family vacation with small children, and I specifically chose it because it was close to SeaWorld. When I first arrived, things started off strong â the customer service was actually amazing. The front desk staff greeted me with a warm, friendly welcome, and I thought, âOkay, this might be a nice stay.â But then⌠I got to my room.
Letâs start with the shower. It looked nasty â clearly unclean. Iâm talking grime that made me question whether I could even take a shower safely. So, back to the front desk I went. I was told, âOh, thatâs just how the showers look,â and that when the hotel was built, they didnât come back to do a proper cleaning. Um⌠what?
I explained I wasnât comfortable with that, and to her credit, Stephanie at the front desk was very kind and helpful. She walked me to three different rooms until I finally found one that was acceptable. It was only after all of that that my member status was acknowledged, which felt a little late â thatâs usually something mentioned during check-in.
Then came the other issues:
The ice machine was out of order.
There were no turkey options at breakfast â nothing for non-pork eaters.
The phone by the bed didnât work.
I tried to connect the Wi-Fi to the TV so I could stream something, but it wouldnât connect. I called the front desk for help, and while the woman who answered was pleasant and tried to assist me, she said it depends on the kind of TV in the room, since each one is different. So in the end, I was still stuck without streaming, unable to switch inputs or use my own device â just basic cable.
After returning from SeaWorld, my key card stopped working. I was parked in the back of the hotel with a lot of bags and my kids â and it was already dark outside. I ended up having to call my daughter and have her walk around to the front to let us in through the back entrance. That was frustrating and felt unsafe, especially as a parent traveling with children.
On checkout day, Genevieve at the front desk was incredibly kind and professional. She made sure the manager had contacted me regarding my concerns, and her follow-up really stood out. I also noticed that only one staff member was handling the entire breakfast area that morning â from replenishing food to managing the prep and keeping the area clean â and the garbage bins were all overflowing. She explained she was working alone, which made it clear that the hotel was either understaffed or not properly supported during high-traffic times. She was doing her best, but it was too much for one person.
To their credit, the manager did reach out to me before I left. She was understanding, apologized, gave me some reward points, and took money off my stay. That helped ease the frustration and showed they do value guest feedback and take concerns seriously.
I sincerely appreciate Stephanieâs patience, Genevieveâs kindness, and the staff members who did their best under pressure â but overall, the experience left a lot of room for improvement, especially for families traveling with...
