My experience at this place has been a terrifying nightmare ! I have been a member since June of 2024 then I left in October and I came back bcuz I was uneasy with the fact that this gym allows male custodians to go in to the women’s dressing room bathroom areas using the excuse that they are custodians and are there to clean . Last month my first nightmare was that a custodian followed me to women’s dressing area in to the pool area where I was doing laps he kept looking at me swim it made me unneasy I left I went to the women’s dressing area bathroom stall to get dressed / he could have gone the route of the men’s access but he went through the women’s access. Following me back in to the women’s area breaking their own policy of supposedly they are supposed to inform people they are coming in well he came in via the pool area passing thru the showers and sauna and made his way to the stall where I was at and he knew I was at the corner one he violently shook it attempting to get in and stood by door looking at me I was naked I had taken off my bathing suit I was terrified I quickly put my clothes on he stood back towards sink area with a view of the slithery door from a distance I came out and yelled at him and he smiled an evil grin stating he yelled out and informed people he was coming in when I had seen him stalking me in the pool I ran to the front and reported him because there was another female in her bras in the other side of room scared the front desk did nothing I hit in my car rushed to my home and called the police immediately the police investigated calling the manager and this company tried to say that upon reviewing the footage they believe custodian might have elbowed the stall by mistake and it caused the door to shake violently . 3 problems the cop saw with this story 1. There are no cameras in bathroom or dressing room that you claim you reviewed .2 the trash can was more than 10 feet away from the stall on another wall and the stall was a corner stall which made it a wall next to it a walk way in which no trash can would be in the way 3 does not change the fact he was standing literally atheist of door looking at me . They took it as my word against his so incident number 2 this week just 2 days ago I walked in to gym after work I go straight to dressing room to dress out and guess who follows me in there I go in stall change out guess who is in women’s bathroom again this time there was other women that were there and he was just pretending to throw trash standing at a distance from the stall still in a perfect place to still watch thru the stall and other women were in the dressing room bathroom stall and shower areas . This time I took pictures and made a second police report . This is so scary for women this place has no respect for your privacy as a woman and a custodian man has the right to watch us pee in the toilet get dressed take a shower get undressed all because he has a sign that says he is working they have the right to take away your rights. If you have women in your life sisters girlfriends wives aunts neighbors stand up for us cancel these folks like I did why are we paying memberships so that they can allow custodians to live of fantasies of voyerism in our...
Read moreJust got back into going to the gym last week on a USAA gym membership plan that allows me to go to any local gym. Today's nearest gym was this particular LA Fitness.
I've never been to any other LA Fitness establishment, so I can't tell you if what I am going to describe is normal.
First, one of the best things this particular location has going for it (particularly for me) is that during peak time, it's not too busy. I didn't find myself waiting (much) to use a piece of equipment.
They have plenty of benches, dumbells, squat racks, etc. Free weights and benches are in the back on the first floor, and specialty machines are closer to the entrance. Everything on the first floor was serviceable, and I could find most of the items needed for my routine without help.
The second floor is where things start to fall apart. Half of the treadmills and ellipticals are broken, and the machines that are there seem dated. Also, there aren't many stationary bikes upstairs, or row machines.... and I only mention this because other gyms that I have frequented keep these items close together.
The customer service is kind of trash. Outside of signing up new members, the staff rarely ventures from the front of the establishment, and on my tour of the place last week was rushed and didn't explain much.
Equipment sanitation is kind of difficult because there is often no cleaner nearby, or paper towel dispensers. You will find yourself walking halfway across the gym to find something to clean a piece of equipment with, which makes things ackward when you return to find someone else using the machine you were just going to wipe down (gross).
I'm giving this place 3 stars mainly because it has everything I need, and is not busy at times when other gyms are flooded with "Bros" and aspiring Instagram models.
I will say though, that if it wasn't for that USAA deal, I would not go here because currently a regular membership at LA Fitness is more expensive than a membership at the Gold's Gym near my house. If I had to pay that price, I'd rather go act like I'm not staring at the aspiring...
Read moreI just joined the gym. During there "fitness assessment" I felt like I was being interviewed for a job. I don't normally feel uncomfortable being put on the spot, but being laughed at when describing my old routine made me feel uncomfortable and not as confident in attending their gym. I felt REALLY uncomfortable when the sales lady I had was giving me a sales pitch about buying personal training for a year. Why would I need personal training for a year? Most gyms offer sessions you can buy at any time. I was only given the choice of 2 types of personal training, the 7 month training once a week which would cost $283 a month PLUS $149 one time"initiation fee" which would be $2,130 a year PLUS the cost of your membership which is between $300-600. I didn't even let the girl give me numbers for the one year personal training, because the 7 month plan was way out of budget for me to even consider. I was still pushed to buy the personal training that day because it was their " in person special." Even after explaining my whole life story on how I couldn't afford the personal training , I was asked how can I afford to eat out as much as I did (they ask you about your eating habits during your assessment) ,because surely if I cut out eating food, that could pay for my personal training.... Another note to consider, lets say you do sign up for 7 months to one year personal training, LA Fitness does not guarantee you will have the same personal trainer throughout that time. You can have a new personal trainer every session! This place has a bunch of young people working, young people= high turnover employment rate. Last note, The gym lady didn't give a full tour of the facility :( I will probably give myself the VIP tour of the entire gym on my next visit. (yay..) I am a little annoyed from my first impression. I hope the gym equipment is nice. Looking forward to updating this review if there are any changes in...
