We ordered online and our total was $18.84 when putting in our credit card and hitting the final confirm/pay. Even screen shot confirmation. Bank statement listed charge was $24.25. We decided to call to inform them that their website did not list $24.25 when we paid for the total and the woman who answered informed us there will be a $5.00 dollar delivery fee that will show on our receipt. We were not trying to cancel our order or fight the situation, just letting the location know that its illegal to not list fee information online, especially when the total in the confirmation page did not include it in the final confirmation. It showed no where on their site for the delivery fee prior or during the final total. We didn't mind a delivery fee but would be nice to see what all is being charged. Woman we spoke to became immediately aggressive and rude over the phone. She asked if we still wanted our food and my boyfriend informed her that yes we still wanted our order because we paid for it, but we were just trying to inform her that their online site needs to be updated and include such charges so people can honestly know what they are paying for when it comes the total on their site. She still continued to argue aggressively no matter how much my boyfriend was just trying to inform the woman that they need to update their charging process online in a calm manner. Wish I had recorded the whole thing, I could hear her yelling at him out of his phone. He finally asked to speak to a manager and she said "I am manager". I always screen shot our online order confirmations and out of all the locations we have ordered from, we have never had a hidden charge that did not show during official payment page. If you order online for delivery I highly suggest checking your bank/credit charges. This is the first place to ever do this that we have seen. Will not be ordering from them again, if they can not be honest with their customers. We were just trying to inform them to update their information, and we got aggression. Rating is for customer service alone.
Update we received our order. We tried to tip the delivery person the cash tip that we had selected during our check out option online and they said it was already tipped and they refused to take the money. So guessing delivery charge includes tip in there whether you add tip or not. Again super fishy. Hoping the guy honestly gets paid for delivery from that hidden delivery charge.
Rating on the food: I ordered the lunch special Szechuan Chicken with fried rice and Hot and sour soup. The soup was good. The chicken was really good. The fried rice had no veggies or anything other than rice and flavoring but it was perfect in texture. It was moist and not hard/dried out. I would give my plate a rating of 4 stars for the soup and Szechuan chicken alone. Style of fried Rice wasnt usual fried rice you get from most places but it wasnt unpleasant
Boyfriend had the General Tso's Chicken. He rated his more close to 2. His steamed rice seems the be almost on the dry side but not hard. The Chicken was the size of meatballs. Just a huge round call of chicken breast that had been fry battered with sauce. No heat with the chicken and sauce alone like most places. It included large slices of some type of green pepper. Wanted to guess jalapeno but neither of us were use. He didnt eat those and I didnt try it so not so what it was but he ate about...
Read moreI have visited this establishment on multiple occasions and it's been fine however this last time when I visited it was quite an experience. I had gone with my husband and 2 kids I sat in a booth with my little one I ordered a child's chicken lo mein I eat that one it's a good portion along with other menu items .We began to eat and about halfway through my lo mein with my next bite there was a black hair mind you it was underneath the piece of chicken and the lo mein under that. I lost my appetite I felt so grossed out I told waitress but quite honestly I don't think she understood. When I went to go pay I told the manager or owner whoever he is and he just laughed and said that was your daughter's hair which is not possible because my dish was never near my daughter my daughter's hair is brown, the hair found underneath that piece of chicken was black. He was upset and instead of his response being I'm sorry that happened it was quite the opposite, he said "WHATEVER" I could not believe that I did not ask for a discount on my bill I was simply telling him what I encountered I told him is this how you treat your customers? That is horrible not only about the hair but the fact that he was practically calling me a liar which I will not receive. I didn't say anything further because it was like talking to a wall according to him they check every plate ok so you're checking every plate and you have a magnifying glass looking through every noodle to make sure there's not a hair I think not ! Things do happen, his workers do have thin black hair and of course they're not wearing hair nets but of course it wasn't them, must have been an old squirrel that put his hair in there. In conclusion, I was very disappointed with the treatment that I received, oh and by the way he removed the $5.95 dish I ate. but it didn't come with niceness as mentioned he was upset and he threw my receipt and my card on the checkout area where I was. Wow, don't do me any favors. I don't know how they do things where he's from but I was always taught to have respect and treat people kindly. I will not be going back to this establishment. Customers beware any complaints will not be...
Read moreTo start, I woke up after this terrible experience with food poisoning that caused me to miss two days of work. I would hope that a restaurant would not intentionally POISON a patron, a disabled one at that, but my husband and I ate the same food that day except for my entree and he did not become sick.
I received the final decision back from the DOJ regarding my case, and because they are not going to do anything about what I experienced then I’ve decided to leave the review I left in a private restaurant group here, publicly.
I’m very disappointed with the experience I had at Tjin China Diner in regards to my treatment as a service dog handler.
May 18th was my birthday, and we decided to do something small because we had reservations that weekend. We decided to go to Tjins. I have a fully trained medical alert service dog. I was immediately met with “we don’t allow dogs in here.” I stated that she is a service dog, and was still told I couldn’t bring her in. I told the manager that under the Americans with Disability Act she is legally required to allow her in the restaurant.
Instead of coming up to us, she yelled at us from across the restaurant. After a bit more back and forth, she then said I could be sat in the very back corner. This is still illegal, as I should not be discriminated against for having medical equipment. Because Tjins has open seating, I asked if she would seat a regular patron in the back corner and stated that is still discrimination.
Eventually I was able to sit where I wanted, but she told us “I’m not happy”.
We felt very little hospitality from our waitress, but the food was decent and the service was quick. (Well, I thought the food was decent until I woke up very sick the next morning with food poisoning!) Regardless of it being my birthday or not, this is not what I wanted to experience. Unfortunately, as a service dog handler, I have to worry about either being denied access or being distracted by a fake service dog every where I go.
My dog is my medical equipment and isn’t in a store or restaurant for the public’s enjoyment, it’s there to keep me from ending up...
