One Love CafƩ - A Gem in San Bruno
I first visited One Love because it's local and within walking distance, but I keep coming back because of the incredible atmosphere, great food, and welcoming community. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the good vibes--the tables are full, the music is always on point, and there's a real sense of connection. Someone once told me, if you leave a wedding remembering the food and the music, it was a great wedding--well, that applies to One Love too!
Owned by Rebecca and Adolfo, One Love is more than just a cafƩ; it's a gathering place. Their coffee menu is fantastic, and it's refreshing to have a great local option instead of always defaulting to Starbucks. But what truly sets them apart is their involvement in the community. In a town where the downtown scene is pretty quiet, One Love brings life to San Bruno by hosting events and creating a space for people to come together.
Something I love most is how One Love supports local vendors and artists, displaying their work and giving them a platform. It's amazing to see a small business not only thriving but also lifting up others in the community.
I've met some of the nicest people just by sitting and enjoying a meal here. The patrons are down-to-earth, open to conversation, and happy to share their stories about how they discovered One Love. The staff--Gaby, Cyrus, and Adrian--are warm, personable, and always remember the little things, like asking about my dogs and kids.
If you're looking for a homey, cozy, and feel-good spot to hang out- with great food, One Love is the place. Say hi to everyone, make new friends, bring your kids, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm a guy who said hello to the waitress and touched a barrel of lemonade. I've visited places in many restaurants and in many countries. But for the first time, the reason to call me a drug addict and imitate my accent was that I said hello to the girl who worked there. The funniest thing was that the reason for her guy ( as she told me ) began to make us a remark for moving the table, it was that the owner of the establishment did not like my accent and my face.
This is also my first review, but the fact that when we came up and tried to leave feedback and discuss an unpleasant situation, she started calling me a drug addict and Imitate crooking as I said "Hello."(after this words I went up to the waitress and asked if she really felt uncomfortable with the way I said hello to her, after which I apologized to her if I offended her with something. But I still don't see a problem in my behavior. After that, I had already continued the dialogue with the owner, who mimited and insulted me as a 5-year-old child a minute earlier. And yes, I did it raising the tone, how should I react differently to this complete nonsense), and then she took the coffee and kicked me out of the cafe left me no choice. I perfectly understand how negative feedback affects small businesses, which is why we tried to discuss everything on the spot. But unfortunately, you got up from the wrong foot today Iām still recommend this place bcs of good food. Just ask the owner before you start communicating with working stuff how you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWith a name like āOne Loveā Cafe, I could be forgiven for presuming the owners meant one love for all guests.
I was mistaken.
We were in town from the East Coast for my sonās college graduation and we love supporting local cafes. We ordered food, coffee, and drinks; paid the tab in advance; and picked a table. As I took a sip of my coffee, I looked up and saw three paintings of a well armed militant woman dressed in Hamas garb. In the primary middle painting, the militant figure is painting a Jew-free Jerusalem, surrounded in Arabic that roughly translates to something gaslight-y about truth. The paintings were so unambiguous and shocking, that I almost gagged. I said something to the very nice staff, who could only promise to say something to the owner.
It may have been that I had just flown west and was a bit sleep deprived, but I found myself triggered in a way I never had been before. The paintingsā unambiguous antisemitism was such an assault, we explained to the staff that we couldnāt stay. They just kind of started at us. We left. They didnāt offer to refund us and I didnāt demand it.
So if you are into Hamas, and a breakfast spot promoting genocide of the Jews with your avocado toast sounds like heaven, then I guess One Love is your kinda place.
However, if you, like me, think of the phrase āone loveā as promoting living together and feeling alright, it may be better to get coffee and pancakes across the street...
