Man how I wish I could put - 5 stars for this "hotel".
We booked our room on June 7th for October 11th. On October 8th (3days before we were to arrive!!), we got a confirmation email from the hotel. When we got to the area, we found that the street in front of the hotel was blocked off. After driving around for 40 minutes trying to find a parking spot, I called the hotel. The only depatment I could get ahold of was the reservations department. I asked for her to try to call the hotel so that, we can find out where to park. After some time, we were told that the hotel had been closed for a Month and that our reservation was transferred to another hotel (Park Central Hotel). After another 30 minutes of trying to find a parking spot, I called the hotel to explain what has happened. They were very accommodating and they let us use their valet service. After getting checked in, getting rested and having some drinks, we decided to walk to the Hotel Union Square to find out what was going on. We saw that although most of the front windows were boarded up, the door into the lobby was still open. I walked in and was met with a fairly aggressive female "security guard" who tried to intimidate us and shoo us out the door. After I asked to speak with a manager, another fairly aggressive female approached to also shoo us out the door. After we explained why we were there (that we had reservations to stay there), we were informed that the hotel has been made into a "shelter in place" for the homeless... For the last month!!!!! I guess management didn't think it was important to inform its guests that they were going to be screwed out of their hotel stay and neglected to update their website. Funny thing is that the damn reservations department was the only people we could get ahold of AND they were Still taking reservations!!! Unfreakingbelievable!
Park Central Hotel made up for this enormous screw up by Hotel Union Square and the shift manager, Mike, at Park Central Hotel was courteous, understanding and got us a very nice room. Room and valet there cost us less than it would have at the Hotel Union Square.
I hope that the management team at this "hotel" get fired for this incredible mess up and obvious disregard for its...

Hotels in SF are expensive, what you get for £100 a night in SF you’d get for £75 in most other places. I paid approximately £140 per night for my stay at HUS and if I was staying at another major global city I’d be paying £100 per night. It’s not HUS’ fault it’s just SF and this industry.
I stayed 5 nights and my views on the hotel and the area are mixes.
Location – it’s in a prime location for access to SF’s ancient transport system. Shopping centres are literally a couple of mins away. Huge variety of shops available. Homelessness – It is very close to Tenderloin and whilst there are fewer homeless people outside the hotel than other nearby roads it’s still a huge shock to someone not used to this kind of thing. I felt very uncomfortable walking the 2 blocks which are west of the hotel. Room – Small room and very few amenities with it. It was pretty clean with a traditional décor. USB sockets are built in to the front table. Bathroom is tiny especially the sink. You can hear neighbours and they can hear you. The door was clearly recycled and there was a huge gap at the bottom. Requires a lot of improvement. Difficult to know how efficient the AC unit was because it ran for ages to get to the desired temperature. No microwave and for a family with young kids this was an inconvenience because we had to use the staff microwave downstairs. Housekeep – Very eager to clean and done daily. Towels replaced and room vacuumed. Very good housekeep. Staff – Very polite and helpful – always willing to provide help and with a smile on their face. Good team of people. Upkeep – The hotel is very dated, there is a weird smell that you pick up and never want to get used to once you go to room floors. The hotel does need some modernisation and some of the things like sewage/drainage pipework really need to be hidden.
I wouldn’t say I enjoyed or hated my stay at this hotel, but because of the lack of choice and the cost of hotels in SF it’s the best I could do. I just wish SF was more affordable and then hotels like this one could invest into making the place...
Read moreJuly 23 2019 Well the STAFF WAS AMAZING ( André I believe checked me in 👍👍) I didn’t like how u are charged a facility charge of $30 a night which is normally for a resort and I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just put it in the price of the hotel for the night .... i did get a bottle of wine that I will probably not drink. Walking in the room had a weird smell! Bathrooms r one of my pet peeves and when I first went to use the bathroom I couldn’t help but notice that I had the looks of lower body hair and the looks of someone’s sweaty bootie on the toilet seat😬😬 also as I was inspecting the bathroom I found black mold at the top of the walls, And the looks of something on the wall dripping down that dried up and was NEVER CLEANED! Pretty much the bathroom was disgusting for a expensive downtown hotel (1-5 i rate the bathroom a 1.7) the room to the other hand seemed to be clean😁 if ur looking for sunlight or a view..... YOUR NOT GONNA SEE ONE! All you see is a gray brick wall with neighboring windows! Long story short not worth 275 a night. Iv been at Econo lodges better then this place despite the beds. If I could take pics I would post them. OH PARKING IS A PAIN IN THE BUTT AND VERY EXPENSIVE! $55 a day and 65 for valet, you also have to walk a block with ur luggage to the hotel. There is NO FRONT ACCESS FOR...
