My Review may contain pertinent information pertaining to my experience (during the previous owner/operator) located at this address known as the 851 Residence Club, or, “San Francisco Residents Club”: Fond memories of my experience at San Francisco’s “San Francisco Residence Club” at 851 California Street San Francisco, CA. 🇺🇸. Closed now. Property is under new ownership as Nob Hill Guesthouse by FOUND Hotels. My Review: I am a former resident at San Francisco Residence Club in the year 2000. It was a temporary location for me as I had a home elsewhere. I remember then searching on short notice a place that would suit my taste, and I felt the dramatic excitement and grandeur of this place atop Nob Hill. I wish that I could remember the name of the women who managed the property, and more details because it is a fond memory. I remember having signed a month-to-month lease agreement with this women after calling and making my inquiry and having been shown one available room option. The ambiance of this property was warm, and intriguing. I had not stayed or experienced a single room occupancy (some multi-shared), and private and shared bath situations before. I was given the impression that most people who stayed here were foreigners, and that added to its appeal. Each room was unique in layout, and accommodations previously described varied on room availability. Some rooms were small and some were large, and the rent varied accordingly. There were shared community spaces for the residents ie foyer, dinning room. My monthly rent was $1400 in the year 2000 for a furnished room with adjacent shared bath, and included housekeeping most days, breakfast and dinner daily. I chose an available room on an upper floor corner overlooking California Street. Though my bathroom was shared with one other person in the room next to mine, I don’t think that it was used by anyone other than myself. The other residents were quiet and sophisticated with pleasant uniqueness. It fit my personality. I rarely saw them except for dinner as I was mostly out all day. I conveniently parked my car (S600 Mercedes Benz) a block away at the 24/7 public parking garage on the hill at $20 per day. I mention the car model because I remember the women property manager at Residence Club having made a comment to me about my having parked my car on the sidewalk illegally in front of the building so that I could unload my heavy new TV that I had just bought at Circuit City on Van Ness Ave, and that apparently gave me a few minutes of my grandiose car parked there. I will always remember the sound of the cable car traveling the rail up and down California St. I learned that each cable car’s operator rings their bell in their own distinct jingle. I am sorry to hear that Residence Club is closed, and I’ve read some unfavorable reviews; I know that the women manager was a tough person, but, I have no complaints. I will always remember fond memories of the Residence Club even though my stay there was a short one. One regret of mine is that I no longer have my rental payment receipt copies for the book I’ve wanted to write about my...
Read moreRooms and the building are old. The ceiling in my room 516 was peeling off. You can hear your neighbors through the walls. It’s super cold and hot because the windows are a century old. The front door is old and they had break ins. 1 star review for the management of this building, Adam and Jay Lopez. Before I moved in they said they will clean my room, when I moved in they didn’t clean the room but they sent me a picture of a cleaner in the room. After I moved out I left a place clean, but they charged me a 50$ fee. They didn’t wanted to return my deposit back at all and were all ignoring my messages and calls. They returned my deposit back more than 2 months later because I said I’ll report them. Jay a guy who is at least 15 years older than me sat in the garden one day next to me while I was minding my own business and drinking tea and started talking about his sexual experiences with men. I...
Read moreOn Airbnb it appears as Nob Hill - Queen room with shared bathroom. It is a Guesthouse, the rooms are on the fourth floor, with a shared bathroom, there are 5 bathrooms per floor, and a kitchen on the second. Regarding the location, it is excellent near the most touristy and well connected to public transport. Being located on a hill it has a very good view and the rooms are spacious. As points against the main one is the cleanliness of the bathrooms since they are not cleaned regularly and when they are cleaned they do not do it well. The facilities are old but that gives a particular atmosphere...
