We stayed in the Executive Vintage Hotel for 4 days earlier this month. It is reminiscent of quaint European hotels with a marble entry and a warm inviting fire burning in lobby fireplace. A friendly bellhop is ready to lend a helping hand, which we needed because we brought way too much with us. They have a lively wine reception each evening enjoyed by the guests who take time to unwind and chat with the staff and each other. Carleton and Arturo served up the wine with a smile and were both friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We like that the hotel always has large glass dispensers of lemon water in the lobby for guests. We had our dog with us and were happy to find 2 parks close by to walk to. St Mary’s Square in Chinatown and Huntington Park on Nob Hill. Each were just about two blocks away. Huntington Park had many friendly dogs (and dog walkers.) The updated hotel room was a little small but consistent with other urban or European style hotel rooms. It had all the necessary conveniences we needed including a mini fridge and great working free WiFi! The pillows were so comfortable! They felt like “My pillow” pillows. The temperature in the room was perfect and we didn’t need the air conditioner or heat while we were there but appreciated the wall thermostat if we did want to use it. We were surprised that the room never seemed stuffy. Although there was an elevator, we enjoyed using the vintage style stairs which were open and accessible rather than in the back of the hotel. Brian, who worked the front desk was very helpful in recommending restaurants and bus routes. He was spot on with all of his recommendations. The maid staff were all lovely. We are already planning our trip for next year and hope to stay here again. It was our favorite hotel during our two weeks in California. The location could not be better! Chinatown’s Dragon Gate, Union Square, Market Street shopping, Nob Hill, and Powell Street Streetcars were all within a couple of blocks in any direction. If you are in town for business, the Financial District is just a few blocks away as well. There is no shortage of great restaurants, cafes, coffee houses and upscale shopping with walking distance. There is no need to get a rental car because you will probably leave it parked for most of your stay here. If you want a rental car to go to exploring outside the city, just talk to Brian or whoever is working the front desk and they can help you with nearby rental car services. There is a two story Walgreen’s with a cafe, a Target and a Trader Joe’s all within walking distance. We were able to pick up toiletries, Tylenol and snacks. We didn’t find the prices anywhere any higher than what we pay in the Virginia resort area where we live or...
Read moreMen The staff at the front desk ranges from moderately friendly to very pleasant, depending on who you encounter. However, they seem to have very limited authority and can’t assist with much unless the manager is present, which is frustrating.
The hotel itself is extremely rundown—don’t be fooled by the photos. The lack of cleanliness is evident, with dirt and grime deeply ingrained throughout the premises. The bed is absolutely dreadful; the mattress topper is so thin you can feel the springs digging into your back.
On top of that, the windows are paper-thin. Even though they are double-glazed, you can hear every sound from the street below. If you’re a light sleeper, make sure to request a room facing the courtyard or on a higher floor to minimize the noise.
There are no extra amenities or perks. The most they offer is some tap water with oranges in the lobby—no coffee or anything similar. Breakfast is served in what appears to be a defunct bar and is always overcrowded. If you arrive after 8:00 AM, don’t expect much, as they don’t bother replenishing items. Honestly, the breakfast quality is worse than what I’ve had at a Motel 6.
Additionally, do not expect any flexibility with early check-in or late check-out. Prior to asking, I confirmed that the hotel was not fully booked, yet when I inquired at the front desk, I was told it was. Even after showing proof that I could book multiple rooms online, they admitted to lying but still refused to accommodate my request. This level of dishonesty is unacceptable and leaves a bad impression.
The hotel also has makeshift fixes, such as questionable cable installations, which make me doubt the building’s adherence to fire safety standards. While there is an elevator, it’s best avoided unless absolutely necessary, as wait times can stretch up to 7 minutes.
Overall, this place feels more like a low-budget motel with underpaid staff. The only redeeming factor is the relatively central location, though even that isn’t enough to give it full marks.
For the price, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. I’ve stayed at other hotels in San Francisco that are far better and more affordable. Save your money and...
Read moreExcellent location, service and value. The front desk personnel especially Jamie, Arturo and Monsoor were so accommodating and friendly. They made sure that we were happy and comfortable during our stay. Jamie offered us to park our rental car in the parking garage at 750 Bush Street as hotel guests, with discounted rate with in and out priveleges and a lot safer than the other garages in the area. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Housekeeping cleaned our room daily. The hotel has a cute ambiance without the intimidating price of the other 4-stars chained hotels in Union Square. This hotel is 3 blocks away and definitely within walking distance to the main shopping area of the Union Square. The cable car stop is one block from the hotel and the public bus stop is about two blocks from the hotel. However, the cable car ride is so popular in SF that we walked down at Union Square to increase chances of boarding the cable car. We also walked for 30 minutes from this hotel into Fisherman's Wharf at day time. We parked our car in their designated parking garage and we never moved it. We were able to ride public transport or walk from this hotel into the tourist attractions of San Francisco. We used MUNI App and purchased a 3-day visitor pass to get around with unlimited access to public transports including cable cars. The hotel's delicious complimentary continental breakfast came really handy to start out our busy day. They have boiled eggs, waffle, croissant, breads, sausages, fresh fruits, yogurt, fresh orange juice, fresh milk and coffee. The buffet breakfast area is clean and well attended. The hotel is well maintained and clean. We felt safe and comfortable staying in this hotel. There are closed by restaurants to eat in or take out food from. We will definitely stay again at Executive Hotel Vintage Court whenever we go back to San Francisco. If you are looking for a clean and an affordable hotel that is closed to the Union Square and public transport accessible, this hotel is for you. The hotel also provided a complimentary map of downtown San Francisco and city ...
