I rated 4 out 10. The Element hotel in Santa Clara is quite nice and the room we stayed in was spacious with a full kitchen. Having said that, the customer service and experience my family had with the front desk representative was horrible, to say the very least. Her name is Katelyn. She definitely ruined the experience for myself and my friend (who was also a guest at the hotel in another room), by her clear lack of professionalism and rudeness. During breakfast, my friend and I decided to see if it was possible for a late check out. Our request for an hour late check out, wasn't anything out of the ordinary as I've requested late check outs before, no big deal. I have never been treated with such rudeness by any Marriott employee before as I'm a frequent traveler, just the opposite. As my friend and I were waiting in line to speak to the front desk person "Katelyn" we could tell she was a little short with someone on the phone probably another guest already. When it was our turn, my friend politely asked, if we can do a late check out. She immediately went on a rude rant and litany about how it was not possible because they were fully booked, how many # of guests booked, being short staffed, not enough employees, etc etc... Katelyn's tone was filled with attitude as if, we dared to waste her time by asking for a late check. My friend and I were completely thrown off guard by her lack of professionalism. She made us feel like we were bothering her and when we expressed that she didn't need to be rude and that all she had to politely say was "my apologies, due to us being under staff and fully booked we can't accommodate a late check out.", all she did was shrug her shoulders and rolled her eyes. Wow! Obviously she didn't care. My friend and I have been BonVoy members for years and years and she is the worst Front Desk person you have representing your brand. She is the 1st impression guests experience and she is horrible and should be coached for her conduct. I will not be recommending my friends, colleagues and family members to this property. I will say that the house keeping staff was very pleasant and...
Read moreThe Element feels like a brand new hotel when you walk in with very friendly and professional Front Desk Agents. The glass doors are opened up to the pool area which you can see the outdoor sofa seating area right away as you check in. There is an outdoor grilling option, as well.
Mondays thru Thursdays is their Relaxed Reception at the bar from 5 pm to 6:30 pm which provides guests with 2 complimentary drinks that includes wine and beer!
I appreciated the frittattas with cholupa sauce (which I added) on the first morning for breakfast and the french toast with fresh blueberries and strawberries on Friday, my second day. My one bedroom suite was very spacious with a large size sofa and a kitchenette that included a full size refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, dishes, and utensils. I was told that all of the studio rooms and suites have the same amenities as noted above.
Outside of the hotel is the Mission Park Marketplace with a variety of food options such as: Mendocino Farms which serves a delicious creative variety of sandwiches with unexpected flavor combos, soups and salads! They have craft beer and local wine, also. Habit Burgers, Starbuck's and Teriyaki Madness are other options to visit during your stay and right outside of the hotel.
The hotel has a Fitness Center, although, there is another option which is Orange Theory Fitness and directly outside of the hotel in the courtyard area.
The hotel location is 8 minutes from the San Jose Airport which was quick and easy to get in and out of. My Uber driver picked me up within 15 minutes directly outside of the baggage area. I didn't have to go to another location for pick up. The hotel is walking distance to Levi Stadium, so there are no worries about parking and getting in and out quickly. I'd definitely recommend this hotel if you are traveling to the Silicon Valley area for an extended business stay and/or traveling with family to go to Great America, San Francisco, San Jose, etc. The Element hotel provides a safe, friendly and...
Read moreI've been wanting to stay at this hotel for sometime but always been too expensive considering the brand. It is brand new and just across the street from Intel corporation. I think its Christmas week so no business travel into the area so it's cheap. Last time during 4th of July it was cheap at Santa Clara Marriott too. Plenty of parking, but you have to pay $15 per night and you need to remember to put the tag up. Lobby is very nice, but no lounge. They do about relax time from 5-630pm Mondy through Thursday. Haven't tried their breakfast yet. Starbucks just walking distance, and also brand new. I am Titanium Elite, so not sure they gave me an upgrade or not. But the room was very spacious and nice. During the Christmas week, it about $100 per night before tax and parking. I say this is a great spot as you are super close to San Jose (lots of food) and you can hop onto 880 for the east bay or 101 for the peninsula / San Francisco without paying toll. To the heart of San Francisco could take some time, an hour to hour and half depending on traffic. But I am used to driving in the bay area. For us, we planned ok visiting all those cities during our stay, so this location is perfect. For this price, I would definitely come back.
EDIT: dropping the rating down to 3 for ONE reason. Breakfast was horrible... too many people and not enough food. Doesn't matter that time you get there. I rather pay extra to stay at Santa Clara Marriott as I am Titanium Elite so I have lounge access.
I like that this place is pet friendly, but I am not that excited as I don't own pets and I would like to know for a fact that the carpet and or mattress never had the 'exposure'. Now kudos to the staff as I could not tell by sight or smell if a pet had ever been in the room. Only found out when I saw a lot of dogs in the hallway and lobby. Again, did not impact rating due to this. Just my...
