This Soquel Avenue location is the original, and it still has better tasting taqueria grub than any of their several other local spots. Pretty darn consistent over the years.
Unfortunately for Vallarta, their competition has not remained consistent. They have improved over the years, and every other taqueria in a one mile radius serves up tastier fare.
Out of nostalgic favor, Vallarta is worth four stars. But they raised their prices so high when coronavirus hit that is impossible now to have lunch for two with two beers for under forty bucks.
That's just crazy. I understand the price hike, but their competition are all still easily 25 to 30% less. And they taste better.
Sorry Vallarta, I do support local businesses in this messed up cornhole economy, but the other guys in the neighborhood...

I only get my Burrito at El Farolito in the City Cause it’s the Best. But I got the cravings out here in Santa Cruz and I could compare it to El Farolito the way the you smell all the flavors when you bite into it and your mouth is just happy cause it’s so good.
