Horrific Stay - Bedbugs and Health Issues!
I had the most horrific experience at Extended Stay America during my recent stay. My roommate and I had booked a week-long stay for what we hoped would be a relaxing getaway, but it turned into an absolute nightmare.
Upon entering our room, everything seemed relatively normal. However, on the second night, I started to feel itchy. Initially, I brushed it off, thinking it was just a mosquito bite or two. But by the third night, the itching had intensified, and I noticed small, red, itchy welts all over my arms and legs. My roommate experienced the same symptoms.
We decided to strip the bedsheets and thoroughly inspect the room. To our horror, we found tiny, crawling insects and bloodstains on the mattress seams—clear signs of bedbugs. Disgusted and panicked, we immediately reported the issue to the front desk. The staff seemed unconcerned and offered to move us to another room. Reluctantly, we accepted, hoping it was an isolated incident.
Unfortunately, the new room was no better. The following night, we continued to find more bites, and our rashes worsened. We were both losing sleep and becoming increasingly distressed. We realized we needed medical attention as the rashes were now severe, covering large portions of our bodies.
We visited a local doctor, who confirmed that the bites were indeed from bedbugs. We were prescribed medication to alleviate the itching and inflammation, but the mental toll was just as severe. We spent the rest of our trip dealing with the discomfort and anxiety of potential bedbug infestations.
Upon returning to the hotel and demanding a refund, the management was dismissive and unhelpful. They refused to acknowledge the severity of the situation or offer any compensation for our medical expenses or the inconvenience we endured.
This experience was not only physically painful but also incredibly stressful. We had to take extra precautions upon returning home to ensure we didn't bring any bedbugs with us, adding further frustration and worry.
I strongly advise against staying at this Extended Stay America North. The management's lack of concern for guest health and safety, combined with the evident bedbug infestation, makes this place a health hazard. Save yourself the trouble and choose a different hotel. This was by far the worst hotel...
Read moreWe stayed there one night this week and... where do I start? The room was $205/ night and while I did not expect the height of luxury, I was still expecting something a lot better for this price.
There was no hair drier, no coffee maker, no cups (not even plastic ones) unless you count the 2 used, with lipstick on, cups that we found in the bathroom.
Someone's mail was in the trash can (had their name on it and everything). There was an iron, but no ironing board so I had to iron my shirt on the bed which was difficult because there was no plug by the bed.
The area of the "suite" where the sofa was did not have a single source of light, not a lamp, not a bulb... nothing. The bathroom counter had beard shavings on it and the little table in the room had eye shadow all over it.
We usually stay at suites places when traveling and typically the suites have basic kitchen items like plates, cups, etc. This place had nothing (it did have a dish rag). The place looked old and dirty, a snack bag that was on the eelevator's floor when we arrived was still there when we left. The TV image was horrible, all pixelated. The decor was very dated and shabby, the bed was very hard and lumpy so we woke up with back pain. The free "breakfast" was on a "cart" by the front desk and it included cereal bars... not much else.
The only positive to this place is that the bed sheets and towels were clean and the staff very nice but we would not stay here again and would not recommend it. This is more like a cheap motel, not a $200/...
Read moreI haven't had a stay in a hotel this bad in a while. We booked 2 rooms, one with a single bed and one with two beds, as I was staying in the same room with my Dad, who is disabled. There was only one person working at the hotel apart from the cleaning crew. She was overwhelmed, to say the least. She informed us when we showed up that our rooms were ready, and got us set up with keys and everything. When we got to our room, there was only one bed. I went back down to correct the error and told her we had booked a room with two beds as I have to help my dad at night. She said, oh, ok, let me take care of that and set us up with another room. The second room was exactly the same as the first room, one bed, just on a different floor. I explained to her again the situation, and she said there were no rooms with 2 beds available and asked if I wanted three rooms. I felt like I was talking to a wall. Well, I was forced to "sleep" on a roll-away bed, and half way through the night switched to the lounge chair in the room with my feet propped on the bed. In the meantime, air conditioner in our room didn't work, and had an error code on the thermostat. Who was I supposed to call? The wall downstairs? I don't think so. The only thing I can say was that the place was relatively clean. Overall, the stay was the worst I can...
