I was really REALLY looking forward to the opening of this little cafe. As a chef and foodie, Greek food is one of my favorites. The casual yet fresh and trendy look is great, and the menu just varied enough with the most popular American style Greek choices. The Lamb was cooked to perfection and the hand-cut fries were beyond good. The staff was friendly and most accommodating. However, the one real disappointment was, not once, but twice the Geek Salad. Greek Salad, internationally is known for freshness and great flavors; Tomato, cucumber, red onion, Kalamata olives and Feta Cheese..dressed with a Lemon, EVOO dressing. Only in America is lettuce used as a base, and that's OK. THIS small size salad was almost all lettuce, ONE wedge of tomato ONE slice of cucumber and ONE single olive, with thin sliced onion and green pepper added. The fine crumble of feta was hardly tasted as it is such a tiny crumble. The addition of the green pepper, one beet slice, and a small spoon of potato salad(?) was interesting and OK, but this is certainly not what is expected by any Greek Salad lover. This was real disappointment to what otherwise is a very nice offering of Greek foods. I would strongly suggest cutting the Feta and red onion in larger pieces so you actually can taste it, and surly more of the actual Greek Salad ingredients and not all lettuce. It's a challenge opening a new venue, and the first few months are important in establishing new customers, I wish this little place great success: but PLEASE, make an actual Greek Salad. I highly recomment this venue, and look forward to enjoying many...
Read moreThere is truth in advertising with their name. They are indeed little. The location is tiny. They are seemingly understaffed especially during a lunch rush. Our table had three orders. The first came out within minutes. We were assured the rest was on the way. After nearly 20min. We inquired again only to have the runner go back an immediately produce both plates. Lord knows how long they were sitting there ready. We were given the excuse that were caught in the middle of the lunch rush but... We were the first in that rush. So either they are understaffed, slow at food prep, or just don't care. The chaos resulting from to go orders and people waiting in the dining room doesn't seem to help either.
As for our food. I wish I could say it was better. But everything was just decent or sub par. Which makes it seem a bit over priced in my opinion. The gyro meat in my platter tasted dry and barely hot. Again probably due to how long it sat out. The rice was nothing to right home about and the salad was just a salad. And the pita they give you is four small wedges... Which is tantamount to a crime in my opinion. All in all not impressed.
I honestly would have rated them higher than one star... But I have a need to be treated with honesty. If you know you screwed up... Say you screwed up and apologize. Don't apologize and then try to explain why you're not at fault and it's just the situation. It's your restaurant... The buck stops with you. So you get one star... And congratulations... Cause in the words of Chris Jericho... you just...
Read moreLittle Greek Fresh Grill is a small restaurant located in the Publix plaza just off University Parkway and I-75 in Lakewood Ranch. I've been stopping by ever since they opened for fantastic tasting, fresh Greek dishes and have never been disappointed.
The venue features a counter ordering system similar to a fast food chain with tableside delivery (carry out is available). That said, they are not fast food. The dishes here are excellent in every respect. I'm a big fan of their Greek Salad - crisp lettuce, beets, and a wonderful dressing that is delicious without being excessively heavy.
The pitas are equally amazing. I like the chicken one, but friends have gotten other versions, all reporting it flavor-packed and perfectly executed.
Aside from the food, the staff here has always proven friendly, the restaurant itself very clean and comfortable - nicely casual. I will no doubt be returning here and plan to get some gift cards for friends. In sum, I strongly recommend a visit to the Little Greek Fresh Grill.
I75 travellers - this is a great place to stop for a lunch or dinner! It's very close to the highway, so if you want something other than the usual...
