Free People — Local services in Sarasota

Not the best shopping experience to say the least. There were 2 girls at the cash register talking and neither said hello as I entered & was browsing. Then finally another girl came up to me with a judgmental demeanor and said “can I start a fitting room for you” , while already going to grab the items out of my hand as if I’m going to run out of the store with them?! (This wasn’t your genuine kind assistance - they made me feel incredibly uncomfortable) When I exited the fitting room the one girl almost ran to check behind me bc I only had one item in my hand that I was checking out with 🙄 ; like girl I have enough money to buy this whole store — bye! I’ve shopped at Free People in LA when I lived there and this seems to be a common theme — racism/treating latina/tattooed women poorly. They’ve treated white customers different than me EVERY TIME. There’s plenty of other high end brands I can buy from that appreciate my business and don’t judge me based on my color & appearance. Won’t be shopping here ever again...

The girls who work at this location are absolutely amazing! The manager goes above and beyond to make any issue no matter how big or how small right with a quickness. It's clear she takes pride in the store and who she hires. I needed to handle an exchange and it was so incredibly quick and easy and then the girls helped me with some ideas for my upcoming trip. Of course my size was out of stock in store and before I could ask the girl who was helping me, she was already heading to the cash register to look up the item and offered to overnight it to me so it would arrive before I headed out. Who does that these days? These girls at this store do! Thank you for all your help...
